We had a GREAT experience with this company. We needed a new boiler on Shelter Island. Within a week, we received a written estimate and a date for installation. The manager, Steve Cummings, took time to explain the size of boiler needed for five zones, plumbing work and new water heater. He answered many questions and did not rush us off phone. They removed and installed everything within a week from the estimate. They completed the job as promised, within two days. The were very neat and protected floors. Just a great job. read more

So I called Hardy Plumbing and made an appointment. Jonathan arrived a bit early and serviced my very temperamental Navien boiler. He descaled both parts of the boiler and replaced the in-line filter and the igniter. He checked all was well and I was extremely pleased. Just got off the phone with Steve the owner of Hardy Plumbing. What a terrible business man he is. He did nothing to resolve the issue of his technicians not connecting the wires correctly for my pool heater. I had to pay a service call for the pool guy to come and do it for the second year ! Steve refused to reimburse me for the service call and said it was the pool guys job. But His Guys didn't do it correctly so why is there any argument ? If they couldn't do it they should have said so. Steve had a bad attitude, was arrogant and didn't even try to keep me as a customer. I'll find a better customer friendly company to use with a smart owner who appreciates the business he is given. read more

This Hardy Plumbing company doesn't resemble the original company at all. For many years we have used them to winterize our summer house. Neither my husband nor I are able to drive after dusk. We make our appointment months in advance, reminding them that we have to have a morning appointment because of this and they say they will make a note of this. We call the day before to remind them again and they said they would make a note of it. We drove the 2 1/2 hours to get to our house the night before, to insure that we would be there if they came at 8am. We called yesterday morning and were told the appointment was scheduled for between 1-4pm! They added that we would be the last call of the day because of being on the east end. We were shocked and explained again that we had to have someone there by noon and they didn't budge an inch. We are both elderly and ended up spending 5 hours trying to accomplish what would have taken a plumber 1 1/2 hours to do and aren't sure if we did it adequately. read more

It was a good company when Joe Hardy ran it... now it is aweful. Called them in to fix pinhole leaks in my copper pipe that was leaking in the basement. They replaced a whole section with pex. But the fitting they used werebso cheap that three years later i had to replace all the work they did (see the photos) I did it myself with new pex and brass sharkbite fittings. It has lasted 4 years now with zero signs of wear. Saved myself a small fortune by not calling Hardy again. I just found part of their work when cleaning out my basement... have a look... pathetic job! read more

I don't really write reviews, but this felt like a necessary one. I have used Hardy for years for plumbing issues, boiler problems and AC needs. They did great work and come quickly when I have emergencies. What I appreciate most about the people that work there, is that when I call them about questions about what to do to protect my house, they alway are happy top help with nothing in it for them. They were a good company. Not any more. Had a toilet flush problem. They came in replaced the entire mechanism and charged me accordingly. When I looked at the quality of the parts I was horrified. The flush handle alone looks like a cheap aluminum mold from the 1950's. Of course, it is still constantly leaking. Then they had the gall to upsell me ! Had a problem last week on a Saturday mid afternoon. The heat and hot water were not working. We had not been at the house for a few weeks and this had to get things fixed. I called Hardy Plumbing after going into the boiler room and seeing 3 inches of water on the ground from a leak in the boiler. I called hardy and they were there in less than an hour. Their service man was a total professional and told me what the issue was and put me right at ease. He fixed the problem in under 2 hours. Everything he said about the repair was accurate and right on. These guys are not cheap but they are good and reliable . They get my vote every time. read more

We got quotes from four companies for a replacement standard tank water heater, as well as a gas tankless. Hardie's pricing was half as much as two of them, and 10% less than the third one. We chose the gas tankless and have been very pleased with the results. Hardie's communications were prompt and friendly every step of the way. All work was quickly and professionally done. We made an appointment on a Thursday to have our AC repaired. Hardy confirmed on Friday they would be there between 9 am -Noon. I woke up Monday morning to a text that said we are going to have to cancel your appointment. I called and the secretary said because 6 years earlier we had cancelled a call we were flagged and they would not be coming. Why were we not told Thursday or Friday? Why take the appointment? When we pleaded with them, told them there was two young kids in the house who were sweating profusely at night and even said we would sign up for full time service they said maybe if we signed up for service earlier. We made an appointment with another company who showed up two hours later and laughed at the awfulness of Hardy. I know the family and they are terrible people. DO NOT CALL THIS COMPANY! read more

The plumbing teams were fine, and knew what they were doing, but the office appallingly incompetent. Having selected taps at one price, the company substituted others that were more expensive with no explanation: wrong parts were ordered necessitating three trips instead of one: each trip paid for: they told me there was a reduction because of the inconvenience, but no evidence of it in the bill. If you want to get ripped off call Hardy Plumbing. They charged for 2 plumbers to clear a sink drain and took about 4 hours of billed time to do the job. Charged over $1,000 for a job that should be about $150 to $175. Pay 2 plumbers 4 hours to clear a sink drain? Really? Seems like a money grab to me! They billed me extra for a "special snake" that they claim had to be brought in to do the job, knocked out my Air conditioning in the process, and after I called they sent someone back to the house to fix it. I've had this drain cleared a few times in the past by other honest plumbers so I know what it should cost. read more

Hardy Plumbing is managed by professionals who take the time to provide advisory and repairs services for the homes and businesses we value so much. They also do so at an adequate price. CLUMSY, INCOMPETENT, INEXPERIENCED, IRRESPONSIBLE, DISHONEST Stay away from Hardy. There are so many cool plumbers on the East End. I used Hardy on the South Fork BEFORE they sold to Petro. I recently used them in my home and it was a nightmare. They sent "plumbers" who had no idea what they were doing. They drilled holes in my new floor. They destroyed my basement floor installing a boiler which onto which they put a cheap incorrect duct . The boiler leaked for a year. Baseboards were done poorly and some don't even work at half capacity. Every time I called for help they charged me a fortune . I finally got my oil company service people to repair my boiler and a new plumber to replace their incompetent work. They charged me to put in an ice maker which their "plumber" didn't know how to install. (The parts are still in my basement) . I even showed one of their guys the parts yet they continue to send me bills for the installation. It has cost me THOUSANDS of dollars to repair their horrible work . They refuse to take responsibility. Next step is Court. read more

This was a "pinhole" repair on a pipe performed 05/31. I called Hardy for emergency service. I was not home at the time so could not discuss. I was agreeable to pay the almost 550 dollar emergency repair fee. To be precise: 235 for call, 235 for travel and 35 for material (torch). After tax total 548.55. I appreciated the emergency call. Looking at this repair, I'm not a plumber, but I do feel that if you're going to open up a wall , and fix a leak you might as well replace the piece of pipe that to me looks corroded. I did discuss with Hardy the following day and as I understand they informed that the manager did not feel it needed to be replaced as it was simply flux discoloration and not corrosion. Secondly it was an emergency service call and all they did was fix the leak. They said they could come back and replace but would be additional charge. I let them know I would need to get another opinion because i was concerned about closing the wall and having a leak later on. I was then told that "he would probably tell you it needs to be fixed". So my dilemma is now a fixed pinhole leak on a possibly corroded pipe and a need for another plumber opinion to ensure that it is/is not corroded and does/ does not need to be replaced before i seal the wall. This is not how to win a new customer over. If it cost me extra I would have paid but the fact that they're telling me it doesn't need to be fixed but another plumber would probably tell me it DOES need to be fixed makes me question their credibility. read more

A terrible money only priority firm with poor service, poor parts that break, novice plumbers with little experience, a lousy attitude lying about past billing issues, and the worst business practices. The firm changed hands some years ago from a fine, privately held business. The earlier business with the name did not have the lowest prices by any means. But it was a business that provided reasonably good service for the two decades we've used them. They were bought out by a larger concern and developed into something wholly unconnected to its earlier reputation. Run, don't walk from this miserable firm. There are plenty of good ones in the Hamptons. If there were something lower than one star, or even lower than zero, I would award a dozen of these to Hardy Plumbing. read more

My CH system died on Xmas eve, being a Federal Holiday this year. The emergency mechanic tried his best for three hours but ' dead is dead'. Hardy's counseled me as to what system to replace the failing system with. On Monday we sealed the deal, repairs started Tuesday and were completed on Thursday. Although the eve of another federal holiday, New Years Eve, the crew stayed late to complete the job and clean up. That's what I call service. read more

We'd been using Hardy for our plumbing/heating needs for a number of years. Their work was not stellar but it was usually adequate. This year we called them in when we developed a severe flooding problem in our crawlspace. The Hardy rep peeked into the crawlspace, told us everything looked fine & we were lucky that in an historic old home, the problem wasn't worse. When we called in another plumber (Okey), we learned that there was an uncapped pipe spewing wastewater directly into the crawlspace. There was also an open pipe emitting sewage smells. Okey's men did an excellent job fixing the problem that Hardy was too lazy to even identify. There was another incident when Hardy was called to fix a heating duct and it soon stopped working again. It turned out they had just put some temporary tape on the broken pipe & left it at that. When called to correct the problem they hadn't fixed the first visit, they charged us for a second visit. In short, this is a relatively established company that sees no need to provide good service or do good work. We will not use them again. read more

We had an emergency late in the evening, a clog somewhere and we couldn't use toilets, faucets, etc. Called Hardy they came right away the technician, Oliver went above and beyond to help me. He had to go back to Southampton for a bigger pump and returned to finish the job which called for tenacity and bravery!! Thanks to Oliver who wouldn't relent in finding where the problem was in spite of the darkness, rain, nasty cesspool, and mosquitoes we had water again and a cleared drain!! read more

Hardy diagnosed problem-we need a new kitchen faucet- in 2 minutes. Charged $160 plus tax. They refused to apply even a small portion of this cost to the faucet replacement. Needless to say, Hardy did not install our new faucet. read more

I had a bathtub leak and Hardy came to determine the problem. Rick first figured out that there was a problem with the faucet stems that needed to be replaced. The original builder did not leave enough space for him to remove the stems so he had to return to drill a larger hole. The parts are over 25 years old but they found them and were able to complete the repair.. Mike from Hardy came to my home and stopped the leak and also installed a new bathtub spout since the original one was corroded. The plumbers during the three visits were professional and came on time. I would recommend their service to anyone on the east end. read more

I called Hardys because we had a water problem. The man showed up , looked around, and preceded to tell us that he would have to come back the next day with a second person and pull the toilet out and snake a clog. We asked if he had a snake on him, he told us that the snake he uses is too heavy and requires 2 people. He stayed about 15 minutes. He charged us $225.00 plus tax and did nothing. Another man did show up , we thought it was to help with the clog but then we were told that all the equipment is locked up and they cannot get it. The story just kept changing. Why show up to a job with no equipment!! I called another company, because we could not use any water and could not wait until whatever time the next day. The new company showed up and had the clog fixed in 5 minutes without having to take about the toilet apart which would have been a big job.. He drives a FULLY equipped truck. I called the Hardys manager 7 days ago to ask about there procedures, he apparently doesn't like to return calls. I would never call them again. read more
