I rarely write reviews, but I am persuaded by my outstanding experience to leave one today. Amerikhomes/Leon is incredible--easily the best contractor/home professional that we have dealt with. Leon came to our house with several hours of notice to do a maintenance cleaning and replacement of a thermocouple for a gas boiler after our pilot flame failed to stay ignited (we did our own DIY and told him on a call that we had suspected it was either dust or a faulty thermocouple that was the issue). He quoted us over the phone and came within 1-2 hours (during an agreed upon time window). Leon really took his time to review every step and answered all of our questions. He is an honest business owner and HVAC professional who encourages his customers to learn about their homes and equipment, which I really appreciated. After the cleaning and replacement of a clearly bad thermocouple, Leon stuck around to make sure that our boiler worked and the radiators emitted heat again. He then went upstairs and noticed that one of the radiators was leaking from its vent, and offered to replace that vent free of charge! In total, he spent about 3 hours at our place and charged the previously agreed upon flat rate. Leon arrive on time and ready to take care of a tricky job. I am having all steam radiator in place stripped, restored and powder coated. Leon knew exactly what to expect and came prepared for any of the complications associated with old steam radiators that may not have been touched or maintained in ages. He had to cut away several of the steam valves to safely decouple them from the floor pipes. This is huge, because if you do not remove properly you could risk damage to the floor pipe which turns into a huge job instead of putting in the extra effort to finesse things. 100% would recommend, all of the radiators removed and now ready for pickup by the restoration company. The CSR at this place is brutal. I contacted them yesterday trying to pay an overdue invoice after they left a vm. The payment link on their invoice leads to a 404: Not Found. They tried to resend the invoice while I was on the phone with them both to me and my partner. Neither email arrived. Clearly, clearly, there are technical issues with their A/R system. Instead of saying thanks for the heads up, trying to resolve them, they chewed me out over the phone, accused me of lying, and chewed me out further on a follow up email. The office receptionist doesn't understand technology or how a payment processor might have a different smtp server/domain than their gmail account. What a disaster. Avoid. read more

A home-owners worst nightmare - no heat on a winter's day. I called several HVAC companies, and fortunately Amerikhomes responded first. He arrived 15 minutes before he promised, and was totally professional. He systematically went through the trouble-shooting steps, until he found a defective relay, which he replaced. In 14 years I had never had the boiler serviced, so he cleaned it, and especially cleaned the thermostat, which he explained can fail if the dust piles up. The repair took about 1 1/2 hours, but he charged me only the advertised price of $195. (Other companies initial charge were $295 and $85/hour for additional time.) The relay was $20, and he applied a discount so that my final bill was $193! This is the company to use. read more

I renovated my home and decided I didn't want a steam boiler and individual large air conditioners along with steam radiators for heat but still needed both Heat and Cooling. I contacted Amerikhomes and made an appointment for Leon to swing by to get an opinion on a new system. He came on time and recommended a mini split system as the solution which would be my primary source for both heating and cooling. We agreed on a system and moved forward with the installation. He ran the piping/wiring and drainage for the units in each room but didn't mount the units until the sheetrock was up. Once the sheetrock was up, he mounted the units and brazed the piping. He advised fittings was not the way to go because as time passes, it may produce a leak and because all the piping is inside the wall, it'll be very difficult to get to whereas brazing is more a permanent connection so he sealed each location via brazing. This was not a 1 time visit. The installation required a multitude of visits to complete. Once everything was installed and ready to be powered on, we went ahead and briefly tested it. The A/C was blowing ice cold and the Heat was nice and warm. No issues during the summer with the A/C but when winter came, a serious problem started to occur. In heat mode, the defrost came on which in itself is not unusual but what was is the fact that it would not turn off. The defrost cycle continued to run to the point where the inside units would start building up frost and ice and the only way for the unit to start heating up again was if you turned off all the indoor units and turned them back on. I contacted Leon to inform him and he couldn't find any issues with his work and that it has to be the unit. Justifiably, he will have to charge me to troubleshoot the unit to pinpoint the problem. For months, Leon and the vendor went back and fourth pointing out the possible causes for the issue but the vendor continued blaming Leon's work and Leon kept explaining that the issue was with the unit so they would not pay him to troubleshoot the unit itself. At this point, we were at the "tail end" of winter and ended up putting up with powering down all the units and powering them back on when the defrost issue started. It took months back and fourth with the vendor and manufacturer that winter had already passed and heat was no longer needed. Towards the end of summer I decided to take matters into my own hands and go based on what Leon mentioned to me being possible causes. he told me that it could be one of 3 things. Either a bad thermistor, a bad controller board or not enough Freon. Well, I know the charge was good because Leon had tested the unit countless times in front of me and the PSI was the same each time. I started with the cheapest item which was to purchase 3 thermistors. Tested each new thermistor and swapped them out. Upon testing the old ones, I found them to be functioning correctly but decided to leave the new ones in place anyways. Well... If the Thermistors were good and the PSI was within range, then the only other item according to Leon is the Controller board but would have to pay out of pocket since the manufacturer would not take responsibility and would charge me $678.00 for the controller. Keep in mind that i already spent thousands on the unit and the installation just to spend spend loads more on an expensive part for a brand new unit less than 1 year old. I refuse to further fund the manufacturer and decided to get the part on my own. I found a controller board from china for less than half the cost the manufacturer charged me. The part arrived ~ 3 weeks after I purchased it and went ahead that same day to swap it out. I took pictures of each part to make sure I put everything in the right place once disassembled. Long story short, I completed the swap. Also had to "de-bug" the system for it to recognize the indoor units. The whole process took me a good 3 hours. It was not cold enough to test because the temps outside were in the mid 60's so I had to wait until it got colder to turn the heat on. 3 weeks have passed where the heat needed to be used and finally started using the heater. After crossing my fingers, the unit, after 4 hours of being ran went into defrost (as it should) but came out of it as it supposed to do. It has been 3 months and not a single time did the defrost get stuck. LEON WAS RIGHT! Despite not charging me for the work/advice, he gave me the information to figure out what the problems could be. I have to say Leon was excessively patient during this whole headache and charged me not a penny more than the cost for the installation. Most installers would have said "everything on my end is good. Good luck dealing with the manufacturer" but Leon stuck around through the rough patches. He is fair on price, knowledgeable and patient. I will always use him for future reference anything HVAC related... I advise/recommend you to do the same. read more

I have a split system that was not emitting cool air and was leaking when I turned it on. I called Amerikhomes to fix the issue and they quoted me $185 to diagnose and hopefully fix the problem. I asked them to bring a ladder so they could access the outdoor unit on the roof. The tech showed up and worked for more than one hour on the inside units. He was nice but was receiving and making phone calls while working. He said the tubes were blocked with dirt causing the leaking. He then was preparing to leave and I tested the units and they were still emitting warm air. The tech then decided to take a look at the outdoor unit and asked me for a ladder. It then took a while to get the ladder out and for him to get up on the roof. He looks at the unit and says he thinks the fan is overheating but that someone else will need to come out to diagnose the issue. I said but that's what I hired you for today. He said he needs a specialist to call Fujitsu then will need to get a part from them so it will take at least two more visits. I go back to work extremely disappointed in the process that Amerikhomes chose to pursue. Twenty minutes later the tech knocks on my door and presents me with a $297 bill. At this point he had been there for about 2 hours, 45 minutes, including the last twenty minutes before he knocked on my bedroom door. I call and email Amerikhomes multiple times to discuss next steps so the air conditioning will actually work. They finally call back and the receptionist tells me I am at a cross roads. I can choose to have units that don't work or have Amerikhomes come back out to diagnose the issue by calling Fujitsu. They will not give me guidance on what it will cost to fix the units or credit any of the $297 already billed towards having the units actually work. read more

Honest, competent and professional. Leon has given assistance on a couple of jobs - the first being a troubleshoot involving our boiler pilot going out intermittently. After having two other plumbers come in and unable to diagnose the job, Leon came in and simply cleaned up piping, which lo-and-behold has so far remedied the problem. He only charged nominal fee. And, just recently, we had a flood of a sink that involved shutting off water supply using basement valves, which we're so old, they couldn't be reverse to get water flowing. Again, after speaking and haggling with several plumbers of which outrageous quotes were given, we decided to wait until Leon had an appointment opening and again, he came out and fixed the issue at a very fair cost. Workmanship was outstanding! Accounts receivable on the other hand is horrible. We have been trying to pay for work done prior to pandemic, with only two payments being actually made in 2020. We made numerous attempts via calls and verbal agreements with Leon for us to render payment, unfortunately those attempts were unsuccessful. It wasn't until August 2022 that we received a call from an office manager, at that time payment arrangements were made again. Four payments to be made on the 10th of every month whereas it would be paid in full. Payment in full was mailed and (POST MARKED) September 6, 2022. I emailed Leon through Yelp YESTERDAY and asked when he might have availability to come check out some faulty heating. He told me today between 9-11 AM. I texted back later in the day to inquire about payment options, and made sure to note, see you tomorrow morning! to which he responded, yup see you then. 11:00 AM comes and goes with no communication. I finally called at 11:30 and the woman who was doing scheduling said yeah, he scheduled you during that time but he actually had another appointment on the books, he wasn't free. ??!!? Why would you not check an appointment book or with your assistant before agreeing to a time? And if you DID double book, why in the world would you not reach out to the customer to let them know and reschedule, or even simply just to cancel?? So I sat around all morning waiting for nothing, and no one would have bothered to contact me if I hadn't called. Absolute garbage. Thank God Four Season Piping & Mechanical has excellent customer service -- I called them in a panic, because you don't want broken heating before the weekend of a big storm, and they were at my door in 20 minutes. I recently hired Leon to install a ductless system in a new house. Leon and Anthony arrived after I reached out via Yelp and were nothing but professional, knowledgeable and hard working. We had some difficulties with bad weather and utilizing someone else's driveway, but Leon and Anthony did not complain at all. Mind you I would have discussed my concerns directly with the company, about the a/c repairs i paid for that were poor quality and needed further repair and/or were just blatantly fraudulent, but the secretary patronized me and then hung up the phone on me. Leon is extremely knowledgeable, dependable and probably the most honest person I have ever met. On two different occasions, he could have told me that a much more expensive component would have needed to be replaced (which I know for a fact that others would jump on the opportunity to do), but he did not jump on the opportunity. First Scenario: The induction motor in our hot air furnace seemed to stop working (this is a component that could cost a few hundred dollars). Rather than just opt to replace it, Leon took it apart and was able to dislodge the little piece of debris that was preventing it from running and was abel to get everything back up and running with our furnace Second Scenario: The pilot flame on our hot water heater wouldn't stay lit. All evidence seemed to point to a faulty valve (estimated part cost $300), especially since tests seemed to indicate that the thermocouple (estimated part cost $30) was functional. Leon still tried to replace the thermocouple first since the connector at the top seemed to have been a bit worn out and was able to fix everything for a fraction of the price. I have worked with a number of plumbers, contractors and HVAC folks in the past and Leon is by far the only one I trust. I wish I knew of him back when I had the oil to gas conversion done a few years ago. read more
