This place is fabulous! It has a beautiful rustic look with a comfortably new and clean feel. The staff are friendly and accommodating. The brisket is kick-@##. The potato salad and coleslaw are some of the best I've had. It's different, it has a vinegary (I think that's a word lol) taste that is just delicious . All of these flavors blends so well that you actually crave more so you keep coming back! So I come back. It was the best kept secret until I decided to take a look . It sits right off Harlem Road--not exactly hidden, but definitely gives off that "shack" vibe. Seeing how long it's been around, I figured it had to be serving up some good ole homestyle BBQ. I finally went with a few friends and decided to sample a little bit of everything: 1/2 lb of pork ribs, 1/2 lb of brisket, a sausage link, and a side of potato salad. I was pleasantly surprised by the price--BBQ can get pricey fast, but my whole plate was between $20-$30, which felt super reasonable for the amount of food. The pork ribs were juicy with just the right amount of fat--exactly how I like them. The brisket was flavorful, but I did find it a bit on the dry side. The sausage link, though, was the real winner for me: peppery, juicy, and full of that smoky flavor I love. First time trying this spot and must say that it was very good first let me start off by saying everything was good. My wife had the sausage sandwich and I had the chopped brisket sandwich, we also had the potatoe salad and the burnt ends Mac n cheese. I recommend the burnt end Mac n cheese everything here is alacart style so come hungry I think the only bad thing I have to say is the potato salad had to much onions for me ( but I don't like onions) . Texas is famous for BBQ, and we ventured out of the city to find this little gem. From the road the building looks like a worn out shack. But the rustic building is quite deceiving. Inside it is clean and nicely decorated. Simple, but Texas though and through. The wooden tables are sturdy and comfortable. Real country music playing in the background. We came in right as it opened on Saturday morning. There were a handful of other customers placing orders. The staff told us they were just opening so orders might take a few minutes longer than usual. We appreciate being informed and the wait was not very long. We ordered brisket, pork ribs, and sausage. All were excellent, and the ribs were my favorite. The meat was so tender and flavorful. We also ordered beans, potato salad and mac and cheese. I liked the potato salad the most. I've tried a lot of BBQ places, some good and some bad. This by far has to be the worst BBQ restaurants I have ever been to. The brisket was not smoked but instead it looked like it was cooked in the oven. There was no bark or smoke ring. The meat was also dry. I only took one bite of the brisket and I didn't touch the rest. That's actually very sad. The chicken was half decent even though it also wasn't smoked. The pork ribs were also dry and tasteless. The baked beans were also decent but it could have been better. The Mac n cheese was flavorless with chunks of brisket in it. They provided BBQ sauce on the side but it tasted sour. Overall the experience was very disappointing where I will never step foot in this restaurant again. I go to a BBQ place not for the sides but the meat. The potato salad and coleslaw neither added to nor detracted from my dine-in experience. The pork ribs and the beef ribs were delicious. The sauce that came on the side was too sweet but good barbecue, fortunately, does not need any sauce. If you are a sauce person, skip this place. The beef rib is only sold by the pound and I had to take a 1.6 lb rib, bone included, for $48.00 (enough meet for several meals with my take-out box. Only tea available is sweet; no unsweet teas. Plenty of other non-alcoholic beverages. I like the inside ambience: country and/or western. Just driving by, you would probably never stop. It does not seem like a restaurant. Harlem Road BBQ is a true hole in the wall place, a dive if you will. That said the beef rib is the best piece of bbq I have ever had and I have eaten in hundreds of places across the country. It is tinder, moist, delicious and expensive, $30#. The brisket is also wonderful. The place is neat and clean and there are free refills on your drinks. The beans are okay but taste like canned with onion and brown sugar added. The potato salad is tasteless and a waste of time and money. The plastic silverware is the cheapest you can buy and I broke a fork cutting up the beef rib. Also the wait seemed a long time as most places hand you your food when you pay or bring it right away. Ours took ten plus minutes and the rib was already cut and weighted before we paid so I have no idea what caused the wait. We will return for sure but might bring our own knife and fork. read more

Harlen Road BBQ has a great design for their restaurant. It's a bit dark inside but still looks well designed. The service is good, I went close to closing time so it was just one person there but the service was good. I got 1lb. of Lean Brisket with Mac n Cheese. The mac n cheese was great and had some brisket in it as well. Even the pickled vegetables they give you go great with the BBQ. However, the Brisket it self was a little too dry, I've had lean brisket at other places and it's never this dry. I didn't like the BBQ sauce they have, its very different from the norm so be ready for that. Idk what they put in the bbq sauce to give it that weird taste but they need to have a regular bbq sauce as well. Place look very rustic. Cute little spot. Very vintage looking. We got the hungry cowboy today for the two of us. Cashier was very friendly and helpful. First time having Mac and cheese on a potato. The brisket and sausage was awesome. The pulled pork was a bit salty but worked well with the potatoes cause it didn't have much salt. We didn't notice any chives, butter or cheese. Not sure if we had to ask for it on the side. We did asked for pickles and jalapeños. Pickles seem to be home made from Persian cucumbers. Which my gf loved. Bbq sauce was pretty good too. It's always a pleasure seeing Chef Ara Malekian, one of the few men whom I look up to, not only because he's a consistent professional of his craft and business, but also the way he carries himself, I always walk away learning some life lessons from him. We enjoy a most wonderful BBQ brunch at the patio with Bebe. The Moist Briskets and Pork Ribs are smoked perfectly with balanced flavors. The Coleslaw is refreshing, we are fans of Mac N Cheese, so is Bebe apparently, and the Chocolate Bread Pudding has just the right amount of sweetness. Ok folks its RARE , I give a restaurant 5 stars and its even RARER for me to give a BBQ place 5 stars but here is 1 of them. I am always up for a road trip for BBQ but this place was only 1hr drive from Spring so no big deal. When I arrived I was greated right away, I looked over the menu already knowing what we were going to get. My regular (lets judge the bbq ) 1/2 pound of brisket, 3 ribs , link and potato salad. I didn't see turkey breast or it would have been on the plate. The brisket was moist and tender. Ribs were moist and succulent with a little tension to get off the bone. The link had to been a special blend for them. It had a nice well rounded flavor, not real garlicky or peppery like many other places. Now to the potato salad, it had spicy mustard, horseradish, mayo just to name a few ingredients. Im not a big horseradish fan but for some reason I had to keep on getting some potatoe salad. No need for BBQ sauce but they have some if you want it. It had a very nice hint of Arabic coffee. I just hope when Harlem Road BBQ has line around the building, Im able to get my meal before I see SOLD OUT for the day. read more
