My vehicle did not need either of these services, I recently had an oil change and a tire rotation 1500 miles ago, and the oil was not at all dirty. This shop didn't do what I brought it in for and did a completely unnecessary service instead against my knowledge. They charged/robbed me $124.72 for this, not at all a reputable place.

I had a quote for work on my Subaru that came in at over $1400 from the dealer; MJ did the work for 900 and did it well. We have had them maintain my wife's 99 Explorer and my 02 Subaru for many years (Until the Explorer rusted out (at 1778,000 miles) and the Subaru got totaled in an accident (at 169,000 miles). Mike & Jimmy were always honest with us about what the vehicles needed, their prices were fair, and they kept the vehicles running in top shape for a good long time. When the Explorer was rusting out, Jimmy called me and told me that before he started doing the big scheduled maintenance I'd brought it in for, he wanted to let me know what else the truck would need. After hearing the list of what was wrong, I asked him what would need to be done to keep the truck running safely while we looked for a new car - he saved us a BUNCH that way, and he kept my wife safe (All he did was to fix the serpentine belt (that was ready to go) and a nearly rusted out brake line). One time I had to have my Subaru's front axles replaced. When I got it back, there was a vibration in the front end. They took the car back in and replaced them again - no charge. But it still vibrated. They took it in again and tried a different brand of replacement axles - and THAT solved the problem - they had been given bad parts by their vendor. BUT... they fixed the problem - at no charge - because these guys stand by their work. Now that I'm looking for a replacement car, and looking at used cars, I brought the cars I was looking at to them to have them checked out - they've kept me from making one bad mistake, they are helping me get out of another one (I DIDN'T have them check one out until after I'd bought it - and their repair quote is helping me invoke the Lemon Aid Law and return the junker) and the third vehicle they looked at, they found four things I'd missed... and the dealer is fixing them before I buy it. Sure, it cost me a few bucks to have them check it over... but it was worth it, and I wish I'd taken the second car to them first, too. My "new" car will be being maintained here at MJ, too - when you've found a great local shop, you stick with it. These guys are honest, competent mechanics and they do damned good work. If your mechanic doesn't seem to be able to get it right, or you're tired of paying dealer rates - give MJ a try. You will NOT be sorry.

I have an older car (2000) that I use to drive to work to save miles on a new vehicle so I'm trying not to invest too much money in it. After acquiring the vehicle I visited this shop for the first time to have it checked out and mentioned this, expecting an eye roll or some hesitancy if nothing else. The gentleman at the counter didn't hesitate to say "no problem" and that they'd be happy to help. They pointed out a few things that I should keep on my radar but didn't push me to make any major repairs and charged me a fair price for a simple alignment/tire rotation. My second visit was to straighten out the steering after an encounter with a Memorial Drive pot hole and I had the same experience; a good price to get everything straightened out and working safely. It could easily have been an opportunity to get me to sign up for more. A few months later I decided I'd try my hand at some DIY suspension work, which went well but left me in need of another front end alignment, which requires equipment beyond what I have in my garage. Again, they were very pleasant and didn't even blink at my request or push me towards any other repairs/part replacements which I'm sure I'll need in time. That alone is something seemingly rare at most shops, but the rest of the experience couldn't be better either. They've got a good website, you can request appointments online, the staff is friendly, the office is clean and they have a number of surprisingly clean and well-maintained $15/day rental cars to make drop-offs easy and convenient. As someone who knows a bit about cars (enough to be dangerous, at least) I never felt I was being pushed or taken advantage of, which is critical. So repair with confidence! This is a great garage with a trustworthy staff that I wouldn't hesitate to recommend to a friend or family member.
