Love love love this place!! The guys over there are always super friendly! It's a bit of a drive for us to go on the regular but we always stop by if we are ever going that direction. Ive been coming here for years and the butchers have always been super nice. One time he even gave me some deer sausage to try. I've never tried their meats yet but i would like to try it one day. You're probably wondering why i go there if i never tried their meats...well, i go strictly to get my dogs food. Now i cant afford to constantly feed my dogs raw diet everyday but everytime i do go, i stock up on the frozen raw diet for dogs. My dogs favorite is the Bamford's chicken diet. Its raw chicken with vegetables all grounded up. Ever since i put them on this diet, their health and skin has improved so much! They also have tamales that they sell. Ive tried the tamales and they were decent. They carry exotic meats such as deer, bison, etc. So if youre looking for more than just chicken, this is the place! read more

I usually need marrow bones cut to a specific size for my smaller dog, and they are always happy to take the time to accommodate my order. Beautiful quality meats, and incredible selection of raw pet food as well. Super friendly service, I have been coming here for years. Whenever I stop by with my dog, the cashier lady will often bring out a dog biscuit to the car to say hello - anyone that friendly to my pup gets a 5 star rating. Hands down, this is the best place to go to if you're looking for meat - both exotic and regular. This place ranges from the regular NY steak to veals to bison. Personally, I come here for the bison because of the quality. It's always fresh and guaranteed quality. Harmony Farms was my husband's mission, I was just along for the ride. His department started a Chili Cook Off last year and not to brag, but he won! This year, he had a target on his back and his co-workers were gunning for the title of Best Chili. He felt the pressure to up his game. The secret ingredient this year was ground wild boar. Started my cats on raw after watching the documentary Pet Fooled, I was shocked to see how much junk was added to most cat foods. Excited to try the sample of Michelle clarks recipe. This is a little store the likes of which we do not have in Bakersfield, at least not to my knowledge. My wife feeds me so much "different" proteins that we just had to stop in here. We were going west down Foothill and saw the signs in the window advertising the game and exotic meats. We bought crocodile, camel, elk, and bison. Also some conventional beef (steaks) that ended up being very good quality. I need to get my son down here, he is a great griller/smoker of protein. This store is recommended for any meat eaters who would like to reach out into new sources, new animals. My wife loves the idea that she can cook some maybe "odd" foods that our friends are not eating. It gives her and her lady friends something to visit about, and some have asked us to pick up something for them. They have great dog bones too. read more

What we didn't appreciate was the lip service from the older gentleman behind the counter this year. When we picked up our Thanksgiving turkey, he talked me into a larger one. Also, the woman who answers the phone needs an attitude adjustment; I've had the misfortune of getting her twice. She sounds bothered and thus cranky to answer simple questions. They also have bones for your dog. I get my dog Jack beef marrow bones cut to 1-1/2" to 2". I give him one a week to have as a treat. He will spend hours chewing on. Just loves them. I buy a package for approx. $8.00. They come frozen so I keep the bag in the freezer and give it to him frozen. They usually carry dried dog treats as well. Last year I had an issue with buying a bone-in prime rib to dry age for 45 days. After cutting it open, it turned out to be choice instead. I swore I would never go back there again, but alas I had no choice as they are the only place I know that sells veal bones for a decent price. Yes, veal bones! It is an absolute must to make demi-glace Since leaving my prior unfavorable review, I have been there several more times for the bones. Although I sensed a bit of coldness in terms of service since it was obvious that saw my review, I was always treated in a civil and professional manner. The time has come to forgive and forget. Mistakes can happen, they apologized and I accept. I have been shopping at Harmony Farms for about one year and can say that this is a local business worthy of local community support. I have two words to describe this place: "Disgusting" & "Disturbing" We went here based on a co-worker's recommendation and I must say that I do not get what Yelpers rave about Harmony Farms. We were expecting a butcher shop and yes there is a large variety of meats including boar, venison, kangaroo and beef to name a few. However, there is not one that we could see that was not sealed, labeled and frozen. Why would I pay good money for frozen meat when I can walk into Costco or Whole Foods and pay the same money if not less for a fresh quality piece of meat that I know has not been sitting around for God knows how long in the frozen section of the store. Anyway, enough said of this disappointment and let me explain the two words I described this place earlier in this review. Why DISTURBING? We walked in and came face to face with a wall of freezers - no where else to go and very little room in which to walk. Rather than a counter of fresh meat for me to browse through, we had to open doors to and pull out packages of meat from cardboard boxes. YUM! The most disturbing thing was the look we got from the "butcher" who looked like he just got caught butchering a human being. Eew. Eerie. The guy gave us the creeps especially when he stared at us, left the room , came back, stared at us, left the room, etc. DISGUSTING - Exactly how old is this place, we wonder. It smelled like it had been around for years and could use a good, looong scrubbing. This place smelled RAW - like a mixture of stale blood from various animals. Just plain disgusting.... Enough to turn a meat-loving person into a strict vegan. I really wish Yelp allowed half stars because IMO - this place does not even deserve a full star. Oh, you know, just my go-to spot for picking up some alligator, frog legs, kangaroo, ostrich and such... Ok, I wasn't brave enough to get anything more exotic than wild boar and some venison sausages, but the other options I mentioned are available! Their Wagyu style beef is ahhhhh-mazing. This item is worth every $10ish/lb and it isn't frozen btw (check next section). Season and sear all sides then finish it off in a cast iron pan in the oven arund 350 degrees for about 20 min and it comes out deelicious. My family had nothing but compliments for my cooking even though I'm sure the ridiculous marbling was a huge flavor factor ;) Yes, most of the meat is frozen, but given that most people don't go to the store every week for these items, please cut them a little slack! I feel I should dock them down one star for two reasons: 1) They do not have price tags on most of their items. When some roasts cost nearly $100, this can be sort of annoying to find this out at the register. While it is good, some things can be very expensive, so because of this, PRICES WOULD BE HELPFUL. 2) Hate to say it, but the lady at the front desk really needs to develop customer service skills. She is has a very cold and unwelcoming personality (to put it as nicely as possible). Every time I am there, she makes me want to leave. I even asked her about a product and she just gave me the lazy shrug saying "I've never had it." What the hell? You are surrounded by this stuff all day, every day, and NEVER had it? I'm glad I discovered this place after deciding that I was going to buy/portion raw meat for my girl myself after months of dropping big $$$ buying pre packaged raw meat from the pet store. I think the prices are very reasonable (or..at least cheaper than the pre packaged raw meat at the pet store) and there is a HUGE selection of meats and meat types you can choose from for your pet..to name a few...llama, lamb, turkey,chicken, beef, venison..and many parts of each animal as well..neck, back, feet, etc. I took off a star though, because they were not very proactive. As a first time customer I wasn't quite sure how to go about purchasing, and nobody offered to help me until I asked. I was shown their huge list of meat selection and was a happy customer. While it does take time to defrost and individually portion the meat, I'm glad I am saving money, and I feel like my girl also enjoys the meat more, as she can crunch on the bones and such. For the pet people who have never been here before, the clipboard on the counter will contain the entire list of meat selections for pets. They don't keep any of their pet selections in the freezers in the front of the store so it is best to ask before you start fruitlessly searching the freezers like I did. Harmony Farms is a serious butcher shop in La Crescenta. They have good fresh grass fed beef and pork and free range turkeys for the holidays. They have a huge selection of frozen meats, including exotic meats like ostrich, bison, elk, pheasant , wild boar and kangaroo. They get Wagyu from Australia which is amazing and they often have it fresh.They also have a wide selection of raw food for your pets at a price which less than half of what you would pay for commercially produced food. They have a freezer case in the front with bags of bones for your dog. During hunting season, they custom butcher game so you may find venison, elk or wild boar bones in there! They also carry a selection of vegan items, like a vegan turkey that looks like a turkey! This place is nothing fancy fancy but if you are looking for exotic meat or a good cut of beef or pork, it's a fabulous butcher shop. And if you want to try raw feeding your animals, there's a wide variety of raw food blends at great prices. If you have pets with health issues, often raw food is the best and this is a way to do it without going broke. The staff are all knowledgeable. The owner Sonny is the best and will give samples of the raw food if you are trying to decide what is best. He even gave me good advice on how to transition my cats from canned food to raw! We really appreciated finding this wonderful place! My family owns a small Organic Cafe in Lancaster, and our source for grass fed beef no longer had grass fed. In fact, they raised their prices and went to grain fed! We were devastated, and immediately went on the hunt for grass fed beef. I found Open Spaces Meats in Modesto. It is a small family run farm that raise grass fed beef. The owner was very nice and put us in touch with his food distributor -- that is how we got in touch with Harmony Farms. We will only get our meat from this place. He has tons of organic, grass fed, natural, hormone and antibiotic free selection. Anything you can want and at a fantastic price! I shop at Harmony Farms primarily for my four legged family members, although I often times bring home a treat for myself, too. Harmony Farms has the most diverse selection of exotic meats that I have ever seen in the greater Los Angeles area. Camel? Elk? Antelope? Ostrich? Yep, they have it! I love that they have a wide variety of meats as it allows me to rotate what I feed and keep my dogs eagerly looking forward to each and every meal. I have a commercial-grade meat grinder so if Harmony Farms doesn't have a particular type of meat available in ground form, I will just grind it myself. For those who don't have a mini-butcher shop in their kitchen like I do, I'm fairly certain that Harmony will grind, cut and prep meat for you however you desire if you ask. The staff here is extremely helpful and friendly and definitely go above and beyond for their customers. This place is cool. A butcher shop in the middle of La Crescenta that offers a wide variety of meat products: wild boar, crocodile, rabbit, duck sausages. They have less exotic meat products as well. I feel like I have to spend a half hour going through every fridge and freezer to take it all in. The prices can get expensive but you're not going to find this stuff anywhere else. We couldn't resist on our last visit. We bought blood sausage. I think we saw it on Bizarre Foods and everything is worth a try. Texturally, bad. Taste, decent. Don't think we'll get anytime soon but at least we can say we've had it. Grass fed tri tip beef is an amazing deal. They come in packages of 2. Total for the both is about 20 bucks. I used to spend 10 for one on sale at Ralphs. And who knows where that steroid mutant cow came from. The taste of the grass fed makes grocery store stuff taste like junk. Prime or not. read more
