I come here for my dogs raw food. They have a good selection of pre mixes that are *Almost* perfect. Great prices! It's a small butcher shop with a small staff. They have a few freezers in the front but most of the product is in the back. It's really nice to see how many people come in here for their dogs food. It was such a weird experience at this shop. My husband and I have been wanting to try this place for a while now. First of all, once you step into the store, it was extremely small. There were freezers right up to the door which made it hard to maneuver around. The way the shelves were set up were confusing and nothing was labeled to show you where particular types of meats/food were. There were probably around 7 customers in there and it was already crowded. I went to look for the meat that we wanted but had to wait until other customers were done looking. Once I got what we wanted - 2 packs of lamb, I went to the cashier. The lady and butcher (I think) were attending to a family of 4. They seemed to buying a few items and asking about other meats so I waited and waited and waited. The cashier lady looked up once but didn't even acknowledge me. I was thinking whether of not they wanted my business. During that time, the family who happened to be Hispanic had asked for a particular type of meat or food and the butcher remarked "Oh, we don't have that here - this is a white neighborhood." I guess it was a joke amongst themselves since they were laughing. While she was laughing, the customer lady noticed me and told the cashier lady to go ahead and help me. The butcher also saw me and commented, oh is that all you're buying? Yes, we've all had to deal with those people who have no filter or doesn't have much experience in great customer service but when you're running a business, these are the qualities you look for in employees. As a business owner, I would never tolerate this kind of service (or lack of service) and ignorance. First time and last time spending my time and money at this place. read more

It was Monday when she said she wanted to have pheasant for Wednesday. Being the doting mother that I am, I frantically started looking for a place that would sell it. Harmony Farms had it, as I suspected. It was a bit pricey at $28+. I thawed it overnight. I didn't want to bake it according to the recipe because I was afraid that it would turn out dry. So, I slow cooked it for a few hours in a cup of water, butter and seasoning before placing it inside the oven. It turned out tasty and my daughter was happy. read more

Harmony Farms is the biggest purveyor of exotic and organically fed meats in the country.

Great selection of frozen meats. They even had camel meat (no joke! -- it may have been left over from Ramadan?) while we were looking for game birds for Thanksgiving. However, the store is small, cramped, crowed (at Thanksgiving, anyway), disorderly, and there is no one on the floor to help you find anything in their cram-packed freezer cases. A little more customer service would put this place in the top league. As it is, it's a bit of a frustrating experience. But the pheasants that we wound up buying were absolutely delicious (be sure to brine them). I can't help adding that the morning after we were there, I noticed several fraudulent charges on my bank debit card, which I had used to pay for the pheasants. I have no proof that it was Harmony Farms or anyone employed there who was behind this, but all the charges were made in quick succession the evening after we left there... Just sayin'... read more

Each cut of "Greg Norman Signature Wagyu" must meet the minimum BMS of 5, with BMS ranging from 5-11 for various cuts. Now for for those of you who aren't familiar with BMS (beef marbling score), it ranges from 1-12, with 1 being the most lean to 12 being marbled. And to break it down even more, USDA prime (the kind you get at high end steakhouses) typically has a BMS score of 4-5, so for BMS scores of 5-12 we're talking the BEST OF THE BEST! Now this is where HARMONY FARMS comes into play. because this mom and pop shop has everything your heart desires, including "Greg Normal Signature Wagyu" and other exotic meats like venison and wild boar. I would recommend giving them a call if you're looking for a specific cut of Wagyu, and definitely as what cuts they have and what the BMS score is. Most recently I was able to score some grade 8 New York Strip which was ABSOLUTELY AMAZING, but also $19.99/lb. If you're looking for something cheaper you can't go wrong with the Wagyu Trip-tip, which is priced at $9.99/lb and trumps anything you can buy at the grocery store. All this wonderfully marbled cut of beef needs is a heavy hand of salt and pepper and a hot grill to achieve perfection. APPROVED!!!! read more

A kind gentleman over the phone said they could get one that's been thawed out and was eager to hold one for us since we were still two hours away. I really appreciate that they always have duck fat, and often chicken and goose fat too, and their price cannot be beat (Whole Foods charges the same price for half the amount). My 24 yo dog was saved several times by eating beef heart cubes. She had three episodes of stroke in the last year and was up and moving within hours. The last time she stroked out several times before peacefully passing. Beef heart is a blessing for old dogs. At her incredible age She had NO incontenence. This butcher shop possesses the correct licensing to process wild game. I have brought them pigs in the past, and most recently I brought in a hog for processing. They did a fantastic job. Prior to processing the skinned carcass weighed 105 pounds. I weighed the product that I got from them, and it was 97 pounds of meat! Talk about wasting nothing! Unfortunately the woman upfront has only become more unpleasant over time. That's why there's three missing stars. She provides the worst customer service attitude of any place I do business with. BE CAREFUL - We purchased 8lbs of ground rabbit from them last month; It came from Durham Ranch which claims its rabbit comes from "Small Amish and family farms in Iowa, Missouri, Illinois and Wisconsin". As I was preparing the rabbit, I noticed on the back nutrition label "Product of China"! I had hoped Harmony Farms would be more careful about their sourcing. The reason to buy from Harmony Farms would be the expectation of better quality meat than you might find at say...Walmart, but apparently in this case it's no different from the big chains. Very small shop in Crescenta but they have a ton of meats. They must have a larger storehouse in the back or at another location. The elk medallions we purchased were great. They also have great dog food that is much better and cheaper than what I've experienced purchasing from larger chains.
