Add me to the chorus of negative reviews of Harmony. I really wish that I had read the other reviews before doing business with them. I wanted to buy an electric fireplace insert,something not available in Laramie where I live. After a couple of trips to Cheyenne I had made a selection and gone over the budget in detail with Barbara. One point of confusion was that she insisted that I needed two surrounds, the piece of metal that fills the rest of the fireplace opening. She stated that the second surround was used to hold the first surround in place. Barbara showed me the cost breakdown for each of the surrounds on her computer screen, but did not give me a printout. She also insisted that I sign a "contract" before the fireplace insert could be ordered, and that the unit could not be returned if I was not satisfied. This raised minor alarm bells, but I wanted the unit and we left the business of the two surrounds open while I waited for delivery and installation. Well, it took months to get the unit, and the first surround wasn't correctly sized. I asked the installer about the need for a second surround and he was confused and told me that it wasn't necessary. When another installer the same question when he arrived several weeks later with the correct surround, he also stated that a second surround wasn't wanted or needed. I had not paid the complete installation fee, so figured that the $200 balance would be credited to the unneeded second surround (for which I was to be charged over $200). So, I was really surprised to get a nasty call from a woman at Harmony insisting that I still owed them $200. She would not even let me speak as I tried to explain the situation and asked for a detailed breakdown of the charges. Several weeks later I got a call from Barbara herself, reiterating the demand for additional payment. I pointed out that she had charged me for a second surround that I didn't need, but she insisted that "I had signed a contract" and REFUSED to send be a detail of the charges for my purchase. Further, she threatened to give my information to a collection agency! I have, never, in my long life, dealt with such an unprofessional and unethical business. I'm now spending time contacting the Better Business Bureau, the Consumer Protection arm of the Wyoming attorney general, and the manufacturer of the unit I purchased. To my mind, Harmony should no longer be allowed to do business. read more

Do not use this business if you expect customer service (including return phone calls with specific questions). They seem to be more intent on selling new rather than providing service for other customers. After 4 weeks of trying to get a 'routine annual maintenance call' scheduled, we've been informed that there's nothing available on the calendar until after we leave (we have a seasonal place outside of Laramie) for the season. Evidently, it's more important to install new units rather than work in service appointments for existing customers. What is with customer service in Wyoming???? It's just not happening and this is beyond disappointing. A one-star this year is too good a grade - epic fail, Harmony Hearth and Home!!! This is a LOUSY business. I wish I would have read the reviews before I gave them my money, but I wanted to go with a local company and was willing to pay a little more to do so. In March I selected a gas fireplace, the stone, and a $260 surround (a frame that goes around the unit to give it a clean finish). I paid HH&H over $5,200.00 (75%) then waited for 5 months to have it installed. They told me the installation would take 3 days, but it ended up taking a week. The guy never showed up before noon, then he would leave for an hour or two to go get screws or whatever, and quit around 4pm. The day he laid the stone he didn't show up until 3pm then acted like he was doing me a big favor because he stayed until 7pm to finish it, telling me, "I'm busting my butt here!" I kept asking him about the surround, and he would say, "That comes later." As I watched the stone rise up along the sides of the unit I asked again about the surround and he said it was in his truck and it would go on after the stone was finished, "but I don't think you're going to want it once you see how good this looks," he said. He was supposed to be back the following day to do the grout and install the surround, but HE NEVER SHOWED UP. No call, nothing. When finally he came back 2 days later I asked to see the surround and he fumbled around, pretending like he was looking for it, then told me that he couldn't install it after the stone was laid because I had chosen a natural stone and there would be big gaps (like it was my fault?) He finished the grout and asked me proudly, What do you think?" I seriously thought he was joking. I asked him, "Are you done?" and he said he was. I couldn't believe it. It looked SLOPPY AND RIDICULOUS, like somebody just shoved a gas fireplace into a hole in the wall. I told him I didn't like it and I wanted it redone WITH the surround that I had ordered and paid for 6 months ago. He pouted around like a little kid, but he said they would redo it. Someone from the store called me the next day and said that they would redo, but it wouldn't be until late October because THEY HAD TO ORDER A SURROUND!! Turns out the guy never even had it when he kept telling me, "that comes later" and "it's out in my truck." HE FLAT OUT LIED TO ME, hoping he could convince me that I didn't want what I knew I wanted. They offered me $500 off my remaining balance if I would just let it go and accept their shoddy workmanship, but I said no because I wanted it done right. If you're thinking I should have called the owner to complain about this guy, the joke's on you. HE IS THE OWNER!! On Oct. 28 they sent an independent contractor to redo the stone (WITH the surround this time) and he did a great job, start to finish in 5 hours. It's November now, and I'm still waiting for them to come back and attach the electrical outlets to the wall and repair the damage they did to my plaster when they had to rip the stone off the wall. DON'T BUY THEIR LAME EXCUSES about "miscommunication," "playing phone tag," and how "sorry" they are when their customers aren't "completely satisfied." THEY LIE. Their scheduling has been mediocre at best but their normal maintenance tech has been decent so we've continued to use them until today. My husband made an appointment in September for cleaning and yearly maintenance. The owner came out and didn't know what service we had requested. I called my husband at work to confirm. I told the tech cleaning and yearly maintenance. The tech said he didn't have any cleaning tools with him do he would have the office call and set up an appointment. I received the statement for payment and noticed a charge for $67.50 for the September visit. I called and talked with the owner Barb and explained the tech in September didn't have his cleaning tools and therefore didn't clean the stove. She said it was a misunderstanding and the full amount was due. I told her I will pay the September amount along with the October cleaning amount but we would no longer use their services in the future. I'm can now see why they have extremely low Yelp star reviews. read more

We have an older pellet stove that quit working. We called them to have it repaired, what a mistake! First of all, they attempted to diagnose the problem over the phone and proceeded to tell us it was the igniter and they would order one based on the make and model number we gave them. Then set up an appointment to install it 2 MONTHS later. On the day of the appointment, Marc shows up with... yep... the wrong part. Then he orders the correct one while at my house and I said I am not willing to wait another 2 months so he agrees to come after hours as soon as the part comes in. When he finally installs the new part, he doesn't even attempt to start the stove and check it. He says we need to clean it first. He also leaves the old igniter because after he tests it, it tests out as fine. After he left my husband and I did a thorough cleaning and guess what... it still isn't working, still doing the same thing it was before we called. We did get a bill for over 200, for the part (which we didn't need) and the installation. We are looking for someone else who will actually come out, diagnose the problem, and make sure it is fixed before they bill us, most likely in Fort Collins. Can you imagine a repair person for any kind of home repair making a diagnosis over the phone and not checking to make sure the item is functioning before leaving?? Nope never again. read more

We called them in August of 2019 to help us with the problem of a west facing gas fireplace that was unable to be used as the wind would always blow it out. They came out, gave us an estimate, and we paid. After many excuses, we finally had someone come out to start the work in January 2020. My husband ended up finishing the work himself last week so we could finally use our fireplace.The lady my husband talked to about a county inspection had the gall to tell him that there was no guarantee that they would get out here any time soon as they were not known to be reliable! The young man that came out to do the inspection was here two days later. Funny, she was badmouthing the county when THEY were the ones NOT RELIABLE!! Have been working with them for over 2 years. First purchased a pellet stove, when I bought my house in Cheyenne ( had another existing pellet stove serviced by them). 1 month in and I'm having bridging problems with the new stove. Long story short, it never worked correctly and they are not liable (read the small print). Purchased 2 brand new gas insert fireplaces from them as replacements for the pellet stoves. No need for measurements because "We did both of your pellet stoves". Surprise, they don't fit. Answer from the office, "You gave us the wrong measurements ". 40 degree day when they installed the gas inserts. Installers could not get them to work. They said they'd talk to the boss and come back the next day. I told them again, that these are my primary heat source and that they needed to get Mark on the phone. They called him in my presence and explained what was happening AND that I wanted to talk to him. He told them (this was on speaker phone) that "I don't want to talk to him! 'll deal with it tomorrow". Mark did show up the next day and got them running. When I asked what the issue was he said "It's just tricks of the trade". Long story short. ~$10,000 in. They might sell good products but their customer service sucks to say the least. Will never recommend or use them again. read more

Been at Harmony Hearth and home a couple times now and both times the gentleman were polite and tried to be helpful. On the other hand the gals working up front at the desk were short and almost sarcastic. I would not deal with them. Unfortunately, Harmony Hearth and Home are the only Harmon Stove Dealer in Cheyenne. I will try to stick to the facts, rather than just venting. I have had Harmony Hearth do the annual service for my Harmon pellet stove a number of times. I have always found the service techs (if that's the correct term) to be personable enough. However, I have learned to double check the service after they leave and have had to finish the job more than once. My impression is not that they are lazy or dishonest, but just that they do not really know all the stuff that needs to be done for the annual service. I have also had Harmony out for repair work. They replaced the hopper latch once. That was a simple task and they got it right the first time. The bigger, but not complicated, repair was replacement of the combustion blower motor. This requires unlatching and sliding the stove out of its insert, unplugging the motor, undoing a few wingnuts to remove the blower, removing the impeller from the blower (one screw), attaching the impeller to the replacement motor, reinserting the blower, tightening the wingnuts and plugging the new motor in. (Simple enough that I would have done it if I knew the fault was the combustion motor in the first place. The stove just gave me a "status" error light and didn't work.) The initial blower motor was about five years old when it went out and I run the stove 24/7 during heating months so that is not a knock on Harmon (although the Harmony guys are always telling me that I should switch from the top rated stove brand to another brand which is better. A brand they sell . . . .) Anyway, on the initial service, the tech showed up in a reasonable time but it took several service calls to get it fixed. (One to diagnose after which the blower had to be ordered, another to replace the blower, another to diagnose the continued noise which (the auger was wearing out) and another to come back and replace the auger.) Ouch, that was a bit expensive. After all that, the repairs were complete, the stove started and worked fine and I thought it was the end of the story. The bill was a bit steep, but whatever, I paid it. Unfortunately, the replacement combustion motor was after market, not OEM, which I did not know about. The cost difference is about $80, which I would have paid had I been given the option. The after market blower went out about 2/3 of the way through the first heating season. I called for warranty service, and was given an appointment months later after the heating season was over. When I asked why the delay, they said the owner does all the warranty service and that was his first available appointment. With no one else available to service the stove in Cheyenne, I had to grin and bear it. When the warranty service appointment came due, it was not the owner, it was a technician who was unable to get it fixed. I reset the appointment for short time later with the owner, who showed up as scheduled. After inspecting the blower, he said that it was not a bad blower, he just had to break it lose from a carbon buildup to get it to work. That is not supposed to happen and he did not really have an explanation. Sounded funny to me, but the stove was running so I let it go. I got a $50 bill for what was supposed to be a warranty call because the blower Harmony put in less than a season before wasn't working. While not happy, it was only $50 so I paid it. Now, the first cold snap of the next year, I have run one . . . . one bag of pellets through the stove and the blower motor quit again, exactly like last time. I called to see if I could get them out to deal with it, they would not commit to servicing it under the warranty and said they would have to talk to the owner about when they could get out to look at it. I have not received a return call yet. . . and have a feeling that, if they do call, they are going to say they are booked until after the heating season is over again. Obviously, I am frustrated enough to post a review. I have a simple rule for these things. I give people the benefit of the doubt until I feel they have given me a reason not to. Then I just don't deal with them again. I have now ordered an OEM motor and will just replace it myself. I have also reached out to next closest service companies in the Northern Colorado area, Advanced Comfort in Greeley and Lemons Heating, to schedule a mid season service. (Yes, I hate disassembling and cleaning the thing.) Hopefully, I will have a better experience there. UPDATE: To be fair, I am updating this review with a note that I did receive a voice mail from Barbara at Harmony Hearth and Home about scheduling a service appointment a day or two after I posted the review. By that time I had already called the manufacturer, got the part numbers, found them online and ordered the replacement parts. Although my mechanical acumen is comparable to Frasier and Niles Crane, I got the job done in less than an hour. read more

Better get a better quote before having them do work on your home. I had some brick repairs on my chimneys and they gave me a job quote. but if you figure out how much they charge an hour ($100+ and hour!) for at the most 10 hours total! I have used H & H & Home a few years back they were a great co. then but it seems the dollar is more important. I feel sorry for the young man that they sub out to. Hard working but I'll lay you odds he didn't get anything close to a $100 and hour. Wished I could of found this young man first I'm sure he would have been cheaper than H & H & Home! My mistake thinking that H & H & Home was the same company I had used before. For just labor on repairing and grouting on two chimneys I'm sure there is people out there would not be near the cost.
