Harmony Rehab is a truly stellar place! The beautiful views and cozy cabins create the perfect peaceful setting for healing and recovery. I really appreciated that males and females are separated, which made the environment feel safe and focused. The food is excellent--fresh, delicious, and clearly made with care. The therapists are superb and genuinely supportive, and the BHTs are wonderful--always kind, helpful, and professional. I felt my stay here was a total waste of time and money. For a place that costs a pretty penny per day, you would figure they would have doctors and staff who knew what they were doing... and maybe cared a tiny bit about their clientele? I came here literally the week before the pandemic started, so I realize that my options may be a little unfair considering what the world was just starting to grapple with, but it still doesn't excuse a lot of the mistakes they made. So my biggest complaint was that they basically kicked me out of detox after a day and a half, to then move me out to the cabins. Even though I was still sleeping around 18-20 hours a day due to the high amount of medication they were giving me, and I kept asking to stay in detox for just a couple more days at the very least! But you know what the male nurse said (I mention that he's a male nurse because I want to call him out, but I can't remember his name)? He told me, "oh you're just scared to move to the cabins, don't worry you'll be fine." Looking back I wish I had pushed back more, but I was literally too drained to try and argue. Like after this conversation I was told to pack my things so they could move my suitcases to the cabins, but I was so exhausted from the medication that I passed out halfway through packing my suitcase. My other biggest complaint was all these "interviews" they kept coming to you for on the very first full day you're there. So the day they're giving you the heaviest dose of medication out of all the days you're there? Well that's the day a different person comes and wakes you up every few hours, to ask you all sorts of personal questions, except you can't even give an answer as the medication has completely turned your brain off (seriously, all I could remember was my name, my boyfriends name, and where I was from, that was literally it). Though I somehow managed to communicate this to them, and was told that they'll check in with me next week, so no worries if I can't answer any questions now. Except I never saw them again... I have MANY more complaints, (like how my "counselor" only met with me twice even though they're supposed to meet with you 4 times) but as this is a super long review I'm going to end it here. So in conclusion, skip this place and find somewhere that actually gives a shit about its clients. Especially if you'll be paying out the nose for it... And to be fair, I will say that at least this is a beautiful place, their food is great, and the nursing staff is awesome (minus just that one male nurse)- like obviously the doctor is a complete asshat that is okay with kicking people out of detox without even asking if they're feeling up to that yet, but all the female nurses were extremely sweet to me the whole time I was there, more often then not I would end up feeling more "counseled" by them then by my actual counselor! read more

My 20-year-old son was admitted to medical detox followed by inpatient residential care at Harmony. He was there a total of 3 weeks. His severe addiction resulted in his inability to meaningfully engage at all in the two university classes he had enrolled in. He was doing fine at the time he enrolled in the classes, but he began to struggle with severe addiction issues at the beginning of the semester. I thought he had medically withdrawn prior to the deadline, but he was so unwell he didn't successfully complete the steps needed to make this happen. As a result, we needed Harmony to write a simple letter in support of his medical withdrawal, including the follow basic components: a. General nature of your medical condition and how this has impacted your coursework. b. Any dates in which you were under professional care and the provider's license number. c. A sentence stating your provider's support for a full medical withdrawal for the semester. Example: For the reasons outlined above, I support a medical withdrawal from all classes for (student's name) for (specific semester/s). d. Date of your anticipated return to school. (If applicable.) As a physician, I get asked to write such letters all the time and most physicians go out of their way to help patients get short term disability, get a refund for a trip, get out of jury duty, or withdraw from their courses due to severe illness. The letter required could have been written by a therapist, physician or other medical professional. I emailed my son's primary therapist who stated, "we can't comment about your son's behavior before or after his time here." The physician also would not write a letter including the necessary components. Physicians are required to take a "History of Present Illness" as well as a "Social History". We paid $50,000 and my son was there 24 hours per day for 3 weeks. The physician should have asked in great detail the nature of his addiction, how it impacted his life, should have known he was a college student and absolutely should have spent enough time with my son to write this letter. His therapist should have as well. Apparently, at Harmony, they don't take the time to get to know their patients and not only are they not willing to go the extra mile, they are not willing to provide what is standard of care for any physician. I left a detailed message regarding this issue with Harmony's CEO Shane Hudson and he never returned my phone call. Several days later, I sent him an email requesting he respond to my voice message. He had a therapist who was not even involved in my son's care call me back. He stated they would not provide the details required in the letter, just his dates of treatment and the types of therapy he received. My son left Harmony one week early because he felt the care was "repetitive" and apparently it was not personal at all since no one there knew my son well enough to feel comfortable to write the simple letter we needed. As with my attempt to reach the CEO, my calls to the billing department regarding our expected refund all went unanswered. It took me 3 weeks to get someone in billing to call me back. read more

My daughter-in -law went to Harmony house and drank the day she left. She died 6 weeks later of an accidental overdose of alcohol and sleeping pills. She was a professional. During her stay and afterwards she never said she wanted to get or stay sober. This is after 26 days at Harmony house. Did they break her denial system? Did they do trauma treatment? Did they follow up with her 3 adult children to help them first understand the addiction and then after they knew she died? She had CIRROSIS of the liver. Did they tell the family that she needed to be in a sober living home to clear her head so she could stay sober? Women with Cirrosis need long term abstinence to clear their heads. Was anyone licensed or trained to treat her? Did they tell Kaiser that she couldn't be released because she wasn't ready? The answer to all of this is NO. Alcoholism is a tough disease and they failed to treat it and this resulted in death. read more

I recommend Harmony. I do not agree with their Medical Detox. Staff is Amazing but do not go there if you smoke or need anything besides Hydrixozine, Gabbapentine & gum. Amazing place but Medically not great. read more

Well to start this foundation is out to get your money and not really concerned about your recovery. My son was in the program for 60 days and then at their sober home. I visited most weekends and councilors knew me as his father. He had a hard time with one councilor who kicked him out onto the Mt town of Estes Park without calling me or making other arrangements. I found him 5 days later after he had a major accident. He died less then a year later in my arms from alcoholism. No apologies or excuse for nit calli g me and still billed me for the week they kicked him out read more

Horrible place! Don't send your loved ones here! I got kicked out because 2 girls were bullying me and stole my bag containing hours and hours of homework they required, my $600.00 glasses, planner and credit card. I was told by my counselor that this wasn't a "good fit" due to me disrupting the "milu" group. He didn't care that I had been bullied by these 2 women. Mom-caring, hardly any mental health support and they allow the patients to be treated horribly by other staff and/or residents. Militant and non-forgiving. It felt like I was in jail. They tear you down and don't build you up. Please don't go here! So much homework leading up to giving your 1st step where other girls can cut you down, you have no time to enjoy the scenery. Nursing staff and food was good. Other than that, it's deplorable. Go anywhere besides this place. read more

Harmony makes miracles happen! Yes, we do recover but we can not do it on our own. Harmony provided me a safe and loving place to start my journey to sobriety. There are not enough stars or enough words to express my gratitude for Harmony and it's staff. I went to harmony in October 2015. Best thing I've ever done! The first week is tough to say the least. The more you give to this program the more it gives back. Anyone the program doesn't work for isn't doing the work. This is not a magical cure for addiction. Its the first step toward and long road of recovery and self discovery. It's a beginning of a new path. After years of drug and alcohol abuse one can not be fixed in 30 days. Harmony gives you the tools to succeed. I am not allowed to give this place one star like I want to and will bet this review will get deleted by them or by yelp because I was not allowed the PRIVILEGE of being a patient. If you do not have the proof of being rich or having a phone you are not allowed the chance of speaking to someone there to get approved to become a patient. I am desperate to get my sobriety back in to my life,staying less than a mile away from the Harmony Foundation in Estes park but have no phone of my own so due to their REGULATIONS I can not speak to somebody there. I have several complaints about Harmony. My daughter was in Harmony for 30 days and I was charged at least $50 per day for prescriptions - $130 on the last day, and she came home with bottles of pills and she had no idea what she was supposed to be taking and not taking. The ENTIRE 30 days no one called me - at all. I am not only her mother but the payer as well. I had no idea if we were to come in for counseling (like the website says) or family days or anything. I tried emailing her counselor who somehow NEVER got my emails and when I finally got her on the phone, she told my daughter every thing we talked about that I thought was CONFIDENTIAL. My daughter met with her counselor exactly 4 times and admits it was not helpful at all. So I'm pretty sure my daughter came home from Harmony drunk and I wish I could sue them. read more

I checked into Harmony a beaten man, alcohol had won the fight and I couldn't fight anymore. The staff at Harmony was caring, compassionate, and extremely helpful. They got me started on my journey of sobriety and for that I will be forever grateful. Throw in a beautiful mountain setting in Estes Park and you've got a recipe for success. Unlike some of the other reviews, I stayed my allotted time. It's basically a hybrid 12-step meeting patrolled by individuals that didn't make the police force. There are a few great people (Scott/Bailey and the insurance lady) buried in a sea of self-serving AA journeymen and women. Many, I felt, we're there to serve a deep need to 'feel like they are helping'. You learn more about them then you do yourself...one of the guys wore baby gap t-shirts and flexed 80% of the time. If you've been there, you'll know who I'm talking about. I was disappointed at the lack of care, compassion and empathy considering some of these people claimed to have been in the same boat. One in particular, who claimed to be the "spiritual counselor" was very upsetting. Really, the reason for my semi-negative review. The cornerstone of this program is to identify with a 'power greater than ourselves'. This is the foundation but they tell potential inmates they are not faith based. Fine. Either way, the one individual responsible for directing faith exploration was awful. If you didn't respect and follow his Christian views, he basically wrote you off (I am Christian but many have other core beliefs). He would give his personal bio explaining about his hardships with addiction from 30+ years prior that would later be contradicted. He made up stories to bolster his 'recovery process'. He was an absolute joke and is hurting what could be a great setting for recovery. I feel that is the most important role considering their focus on a higher power - a concept that is most confusing to those new to recovery. I explained my concerns with his tactics and they simply asked me to leave. I asked over and over for materials about the neurological/science-based impact of addiction and was ignored. I was just told the higher power is the answer and to fall in line. Thankfully I met someone that had a sister that provided me with great material. 'This Naked Mind' is a great book which I found after doing further investigation of those concepts. I understand the majority of inmates were there as part of a court ordered rehab...maybe that is why it felt like prison camp. We did get to do some fun things and I met some great people. I have stayed in touch with a couple. Happy to say, I am still in recovery. I have not heard anything from the place that I paid nearly $1000/night for but have established my own community. I will say, I adored Bailey and Scott. I believe Bailey to have left but Scott was a great teacher dedicated to helping those in recovery. With a few exceptions, it seemed to me that the staff (with some exceptions) were just unhappy people gripping the 12-step way of life to convince themselves otherwise. It's your recovery and there are lots of ways to get sober. Harmony is a good place (emphasize 'place') but could challenge themselves to re-evaluate their people and curriculum. read more

Rehab facilities are known as bottom feeders (preying on people that have already been preyed upon), and Harmony epitomizes that view! These people are totally out for your money and couldn't care less about your well being (that rehab twist that it's your fault if it doesn't work when the reality is they do nothing). Their policy is your first three days are in detox/medical lockup, which is fine. I arrived there on a Wed before a Holiday weekend, so my third day would fall on the Sat. They were already down to 'skeleton crew' on Friday, with the remaining staff visibly running for their cars to enjoy their long weekend. I realized I'd be in lockup for 6days, with no counseling or treatment whatsoever! And that's 20% of the 30day treatment of them providing nothing!... I DIDN'T PAY THEM TO BE GROUNDED! I had back-to-back anxiety attacks over such treatment, literally crying into my pillow, to which no one responded to! I got up Saturday morning and demanded to leave. The nurse explained to me that they rely on peer support for crises. I COULD GO TO AN A.A. MEETING FOR FREE TO GET PEER SUPPORT!!! Then upon exiting (when I got my phone back!) I received a call from a local sheriff telling me there's a warrant out for my arrest because the staff neglected to make a phone call to the court explaining where I was & why I wouldn't make it. I came out in worse shape than when I went in! And the real chafe is they kept $5000! For a bogus detox where I suffered as much as I would've at home by myself! The entire staff is unprofessional and absolutely useless! You gotta be masochistic to go here, or sadistic to send your loved one here. Save your money & emotional pain, and find a good AA meeting! read more

There are no incentives to financially take advantage of clients or inappropriately extend treatment - Harmony Foundation is a non profit driven by a mission to provide help. You will find everyone there working in the client's best interest. Treatment can be difficult but you will find a supportive, caring environment from all of the people that you meet whether they are in admissions, counseling, nursing, the kitchen and housekeeping, and support staff. read more

Are you kidding? They refer to Harmony as a "peer driven" program meaning that for $400.00 + dollars per day, you get the equivalent of 2 free AA meetings and 3 mediocre cafeteria meals . Oh, wait... don't forget about the Wednesday movie night! 10 year old flick and a bag of chips is priceless. After 2 weeks I had never seen a licensed counselor/therapist or received anything that resembled medical/ nutritional/ physical counseling. I should have flushed my $8,000.00 down the toilet. The lack of professional guidance or therapy was baffling. If I had planned ahead like the crack/meth heads and had sex and gotten completely cracked out with my girlfriends in the restrooms/ dorm rooms during every weekly visit, i guess i might have had fun.. Silly me, I was there for recovery. Funny thing was, they were only paying $1,100.00 for the month. (Our tax dollars well spent) read more

It saved my life. Harmony gave me the tools to quit drugs and alcohol, one day at a time. Like all things in life, you get out of Recovery what you put in. First off I want to say that I was very disappointed in Harmony and I would not recommend the treatment center to anyone. During my third day at Harmony (still in detox) I had an anger outburst, which is very common while detoxing. The way the counselors handled my anger outburst was totally wrong in my eyes. I wanted to be there and get help but was told by multiple counselors that Harmony wasn't for me. As an addict, when you here that you immediately put your defenses up. I feel as if Harmony gave up on me while I was there, which is disappointing to say the least. They are supposed to be ranked amongst the best in Colorado but from what I experienced, they shouldn't even be close to that ranking. The night nurses at the women's detox center were amazing but everyone else I encountered during my stay were abrasive and uncaring. Thankfully I found a different treatment center who has extremely helped me and I'm currently two weeks sober and can't wait to see what my future holds. read more
