If you are looking for a private serene dining experience with the FINEST dim sum made with organic, fresh, and top grade ingredients, then Harmony is the place to go. I have been here at least once a month for the past five years and without fail, I feel fully satisfied that I have enjoyed the best dim sum and Chinese food in the Bay Area. I always start my meal with the Shanghai dumplings that bursts with the most flavorful broth with each bite. Then I have the kale/mushroom dumplings that my vegetarian friend also loves. For the main dishes, my favorites are the succulent pork spareribs, honey walnut prawns, mushu pork, and rack of lamb. My friends' favorite vegetarian entrees are the Organic tofu and brussel sprout pot stickers. What other restaurant would you find such authentic, delicately seasoned (definitely not bland), non-greasy, organic, and freshly prepared dishes. The staff is always attentive and the service is excellent. Definitely worth a trip over the Golden Gate Bridge, even on the weekends. My husband and I have been going to Harmony regularly for the last two years! Their staff is super friendly, the food is organic and delicious, and the atmosphere is inviting and very clean. For Chinese food the prices can be surprising but for what you get in terms of an overall dining experience we think it's well worth it. This restaurant is very expensive for Chinese food (everyone says that), but it is right on track for restaurants in Marin. Good food if you don't want to go in city. Good if want organic and humanly feed foods. I will only go backthough if someone else pays. I am a dim sum junky and found that this restaurant satisfied my cravings. It is not the most authentic and the dim sum choices are limited, but what I did have was quite tasty. I ordered the bbq buns, shui mai, lotus leaf and some little duck dish. All tasted on par with other dim sum restaurants. My husband ordered a side of onion rings; I had a bite and thought it was quite bland. I also thought service was good - attentive and nice. Well, I know it's pricey for chinese...but if you like & pay for PF Changs, you'll like this place. Similar Decor, similar but bigger menu. I found the food great & service great (although it was pretty empty at the 630 dinner time on tuesday. I enjoyed the crispy skin chicken(prepared like duck) and the potstickers. The ribs were a bit bland, but dipped in hoisin, just fine. The grilled turnip with mushrooms was a nice treat. There are many more dishes I want to try. Considering the limited choices in marin & that is unique in having chinese food & hip style, it's worth it, for a nice night out. They also have a take out side, where you can see much of what they have, already prepared & ready...whole foods style. Since I'd rather eat than drink, I just had water to keep the bill down. Harmony is great. I have been coming since they opened. I usually just stop in and pick up something to take home. We love the shrimp gow, I ask them to make shrimp chow mein, it is wonderful. Like I said before...expensive, but delicious! But damn, if I don't go in and order $60 bucks worth of food which I got the hard way...I earned it! And I try to crack a smile from one of those tough girls up front! Can I at least get some feeling that they appreciate my business. We used to go out or get take out 3-4 times a week...now, because of the economy, it's maybe once. And that knocks 2 a week, times 4 equals amonth that's 8 places we wont be getting food from. When I looked at the menu, I didn't find it expensive; however, the serving sizes are half of ordinary Chinese restaurants. The pot stickers were the best I've ever had. Dim sum very good. We are faithful Harmony customers whether for in dining or frequent take out orders. We've known the owner Norman from his Yank Sing days. Harmony gets high marks for its consistency, quality, and quality of ingredients. My kids love that they can order dim sum for dinner! The setting is casual and warm, and we appreciate that the lovely staff has been there for a long time. Favorites are dim sum (crescent mushroom dumplings, shanghai dumplings, Imperial potstickers, lotus leaf rice, pork buns), and just about every entree like minced chicken w/ lettuce leaves, signature chicken, amazing beef chow fun (the best!), baby bok choy...you can't go wrong with any dish. Desserts are delicious. They serve a traditional sweet sesame ball with chocolate; probably the best thing I've tasted. Egg custard tarts are always consistent and delicious. Mango pudding a favorite way to end a meal. The wine list is well chosen and a good complement to the food. For take out, I suggest you call-in. More food than you need, but you get what you want, and you can enjoy leftovers. We only call-in take out and avoid the case offerings. Much fresher to order what you want. read more

Read that this had good reviews so we just went there for lunch. Very unimpressed and two of the three of us couldn't really eat what they ordered (Chinese chicken salad was over salted and orange chicken was too sweet even for my son). Two of the three of us are going to eat lunch when we get home. Water was not regularly filled- all three of our glasses were empty for a while. Didn't get menus when we sat; only got them when we flagged someone else down. And it was expensive. There was no special lunch menu. read more

Wish I'd tried the Dim Sum, because I will probably never go back. The food was ok, but I wish they wouldn't put chopsticks on every plate- the kids thought that gave them license to play little drummer boy on every surface (while parents were oblivious). Not the fault of the restaurant, but still....The worst part was after the waitress took our plates, and we were waiting for the check, the busboy came and wiped our table with this nasty, wet rag, leaving a sloppy mess on the table. Decided to go to dinner in Sausalito... TO EXPENSIVE... So we were driving back to SR and decided to stop in Mill Valley as we rarely drive around there or eat there. We stumbled upon Harmony not knowing anything about it. Atmosphere is very nice, and the waitress was very friendly. Have some friends who told us we had to try Dim Sum and when we saw it on the menu we thought, hey lets give it a try... I am not sure if it is traditional dim sum or not, but it was very very delicious! Including the won tons. We did get there kinda late, but definitely 40 minutes prior to closing, we were seated, got the menu and were looking over all the different options. Once we were ready to order we were told to order everything we wanted right then, because the kitchen was closing. I was a bit shocked at how were were treated seeing as though we just sat down, and said we had never been there before and were excited to try this new place. We ordered quite a bit for just 2 of us, becuase it said each dish, about 2-4 pieces for $4 dollars, and we figured we didnt want to not get enough if they were closing. It all came out fairly quickly. As soon as one plate was clean they came to take it away and brought out our check while I was still eating. I felt very rushed and I didn't like that, seeing as though we had plenty of time to eat and get out before they were even closed. Aren't Restaurants supposed to be open UNTIL they close not an hour before they "close" to make sure people are out by the closing time?! Maybe I'm wrong. So great food, Ill definitely go back, possibly a bit earlier to see if the service could be better. maybe a little bit more personal would have been better. read more

We get their take-out quite often, as this restaurant seems to be one of the more healthy chinese cuisine restaurants in the area. They are a bit more pricey than some others in this area, but, again, the quality ingredients are no doubt the reason. We love the Harmony Beef, Harmony Chicken and Kung Pao Chicken - also the potstickers are the best we have ever had....anywhere. It is our favorite! read more

I have been curious to try Harmony after driving by numerous times, so my husband and I finally went for dinner one night recently. The ambiance is nice inside - contemporary and clean - and the service is friendly. If you are looking for organic California-style Chinese food, then you might give Harmony a try. They have gluten-free options, farm fresh vegetables folded into their dumplings, and sustainable meats and poultry. The dim sum was so-so - but they did have some interesting combinations, such as leek and corn dumplings, kale dumplings, and spinach dumplings. But if you are looking for real greasy home-style Chinese food, this is not your place. I tried the chow fun noodles with charsui and the noodles just didn't have that oily flavorful quality to it. The Harmony Signature Chicken dish was quite tasty though. All in all, I might come here again if I am looking for clean cooking with a bit of an Asian twist to it...after all, I probably shouldn't have that much greasy Chinese food all the time! read more

Co-worker brought me here for lunch and I can say that I thoroughly enjoyed it. It has a very Marin-esque take on the classic Chinese cuisine if you are familiar with the stereotype. Everything is very flavorful yet light and delicious. We went to the side where they have a take out portion of the restaurant, and all the hot food was fresh and beautifully presented on white plates, which made the whole environment that much more aesthetically pleasing. Had another family dinner at Harmony - it was a busy Saturday night, but we were seated in about five minutes. Our two-year old grandson was getting sleepy, but the food was delivered promptly, and everything was great! Our favorites include the Signature Beef, Honey Walnut Shrimp, Broccolini, Spare Ribs and Beef Triangles. I was surprised to see that this restaurant only carries a 3 star rating. I've been there half a dozen times and the service is always friendly and impeccable. The food is delicious and healthy - the latter is difficult to find amongst Chinese fare. The prices are extremely reasonable, and I like the "treasure hunt" of trying many small dishes (orders of two dumplings, for example). The space is clean and modern - but not romantic. I tend to Gush about this place! Lets see perfect dim sum! Seafood shu mai is a must! Pork shu mai made with quality pork. Bake bbq pork buns are now available. The place is clean and well decorated. The service is friendly and professional. The Signature beef is beyond this world excellent. Ho fun pork on a cold foggy day is "Write home"great! This is a family place! They have a take out area where food are ready to go home with you! I love sitting in the restaurant and visiting with Norm when he is not walking around making the operation run smooth. While the food is great the service at lunch yesterday was terrible. I just wanted a little chow mein, some fried rice and potstickers. The line was starting to build and they let a lady cut in front of me. I order my food and he starts telling me that I have to order this lunch item that comes with that. "No, I just want chow mein, fried rice and potstickers." "Okay", he says. "That's by the pound. Is this enough?" "Yes, that same amount of fried rice too." He starts loading more chow mein in the box. "No, I don't want that much." He takes a little chow mein out and uses another box to load the same amount of fried rice. When I go to pay its $25. "No, I really didn't want that much. I just wanted a serving size." "What do you want me to do?" He asks. "I am busy." I left and had some awesome tacos at high tech burrito. read more

Chic, clean, comfortable. The service we received was friendly, fun, helpful, prompt.. Kung Pao Chicken was the best I've had in CA in 20+ years. Signature dishes were all delicious. String bean side dish cooked to perfection. My daughter ordered the orange chicken and did not like it...too sweet. Others at the table tried it and we all agreed. We are on the way back home from point Reyes and found this restaurant. Yelp review is not that great but we are happy with the food and service. We ordered one of the kale dish from one of the special menu, crispy chicken, wonton soup, chow mein and for the dessert we had custard tart. Very nice ambient. Good food and great service. Absurdly small portions. Worst chicken chow mein I have ever eaten, which I dis with great effort. Dry, no flavor or some 0flavor that I did not think was "authentic" which people allege this place is...Some dishes are very delicious, but, again, you get cheated on the tiny portions.
