This restaurant is located in downtown Ellisville in an old Hotel. They also have a meat market. The main dining is down the hall towards the back. We were seated right away. We tried a couple of new items for us. So when we came in I noticed there were a lot of pizza to go. We tried the pimento cheese and sausage dip and the Pizza- I think it was a special that they were trying out. It was very good.The cheese bombs are a favorite for us. The service was also great. I would normally have given them a 5 star review, however we went in last week for dinner, I upgraded my dinner with a dinner salad, the waitress brought me and small saucer with a "salad" in it that had & I'm not kidding..1 cucumber slice, 1 pepperoncini, and about 3 chopped pieces of lettuce, when she came back, I asked her if I could get a salad with some lettuce in it and she looked at me like I was nuts! Took it in the kitchen and put another saucer salad in the same bowl & brought it back to me. Oh well, I'm guess good service hard to find. I should have taken a photo of the salad just to show you how stupid it looked. After all I was paying for the upgrade for the salad..I mean at the time of paying my husband paid over 50 dollars for our dinner, and she was giving me attitude of a lettuce. This is a relatively new establishment that seems to still be getting into their groove. The space inside an old hotel gives the space a nice ambiance. The burgers are good here and have a nice juicy delicious flavor for the beef patties along with a nice bun. Their steak bomb sandwiches remind me a bit of a Philly cheesesteak but much better and served on a burger bun. Their seafood gumbo had a decent rue while the seafood was pathetically tiny little things with barely any seafood even in it. They were out of straws, no lemons were available for my iced tea and we had to actually ask for napkins from our server. Overall, the food seems good here while they are obviously having opening operations challenges. read more

We're so glad we stopped. We are traveling home and stopped for lunch. They had a mix of regular American and Louisiana/Mississippi style foods. Everything was VERY good. It's in a cool building. It used to be a hotel. The servers were very good, attentive, and friendly. We also found a cool variety shop, The Emporium on Ivy, around the corner (don't need to move your car). read more

Located in the historic Hotel Alice in downtown Ellisville is this gem of a restaurant and butcher shop. Ate here for the first time tonight with some family and it was outstanding. I had the Steak Bomb sandwich with loaded fries and it was seasoned perfectly, tender thin slicked steak with onions and peppers that were equally as tender and flavorful. At my table we also had a ribeye steak, blackened shrimp, pork steak, and gumbo. Everyone loved their meals. Even the fried pickles and southwest egg rolls we had for appetizers were something special. Our waitress Addison (I hope I spelled that correctly) was attentive and very sweet. We will be back often as this place is fantastic! I plan to try the pizza next time as I got a whiff of one cooking on our way out and it smelled great! read more

We visited Harp and Hound for lunch on a Saturday. My husband ordered a coke. I ordered an unsweet tea and my son ordered a sweet tea. All of us noticed a nasty bitter aftertaste with our drink that kept revisiting me long after the meal was finished. I inquired if they had bottled water and was told they didn't. Other diners were drinking their drinks so perhaps they are used to the local water. We were not. My chili and my son's grilled cheese were ok, but my husband's burger was burned on one side. On the other hand, our waitress was nice and attentive. The old Alice hotel with all of the black and white photographs on the wall was cool. We will not be visiting again. read more
