If you're looking for a good burger joint in town, this one is the place to go to. During the spring/summer, they even have a nice, small outdoor seating area too. The "#8 Delicious" burger lives up to its name. One of the biggest things I worry about when I eat a burger is if it's too oily and this one wasn't!! Holy customization batman. As far as gourmet burger places go, this one is pretty OK and overpriced. They have amazing flavours, options, customizations, service, atmosphere but I still can't believe going in and eating here costs around 20 bucks. I mean, that's a chicken entree at the Keg. I can't justify this. The only way I would pay that much for a burger again is if they ground the meat then and there and allowed you to get a burger medium-rare or rare. Not just putting cheeses and toppings you can find at the grocery store. I've been a few times, got the normal burger and turkey burger, their 'lettuce bun' is terrible, it's two thin slices of romaine and you kind of have to eat it with a knife and fork... Get there early because it gets busy. The variety was great for everyone who has special needs. I can't have flour so I had a grilled chicken breast with grilled vegetables on top in lettuce. It was very good. The best part was that they have about a dozen different sauces that you can try. I liked the rosemary mayo. A very good complement to the grilled chicken breast. My kids enjoyed theirs too. My husband was not impressed with his "beyond beef" burger but that's more of a commentary on the beyond beef craze than on this restaurant. I've been to Harpers countless times, but I'm now just getting around to writing a full review. This is hands down, the best burger place I've ever been to in my life. As a vegan, it can be hard to find great options but Harpers makes it easy. Although its not featured on the menu online, they have had the Beyond Meat Feature for a couple of months now and it is to DIE for. The patty is cooked to perfection, their smoked mushroom bacon makes a huge difference. Vegan or non-vegan, the Beyond Meat feature is something everyone would salivate over. I was so upset when I ran out of burger. I could probably eat about 5 of them in one sitting. This is the best burger joint in town. The only reason someone would go to the works instead of Harper's is because they haven't heard of Harper's. After going here in second year, Harper's become a staple for the remainder of my university career. Their toppings and general optionality are unparalleled in Kingston. I've been here enough times now that I've lost count. After the first few visits, I've always gone with the slider sample, so I've gotten to try almost everything on the menu. Waffle fries are a great sub for regular fries, and if you're really hungry, you should get the thai poutine. If you're on the run for lunch, the lunch box combo is a good deal and they'll pack everything in a box for you to take away. The caesar salad I started with was excellent because they made their own dressing with lots of garlic and it was excellent. Gourmet burger places have been the norm in Toronto for some time but I finally had a chance to try Harper's during a visit last weekend. Good burger albeit slightly overcooked. Decent amount of options for the burgers but some are just novelty. This place loses points for the side dishes. Fries were soggy and shapeless and the onion rings tasted like frozen standard fare. I had heard a lot of positive things before I initially visited Harpers, but the hype did not over promise at all! This place is cozy, bright and feels homey as soon as you walk in. Service was top notch - our chatty waitress was kind enough to do some sleuthing on the feta cheese (it's a sheep/cow canadian mix, if you are wondering) and had our table in stitches with humorous replies to our tables gab-fest. I ordered the #1 on the lamb burger with sweet potato fries on GF bun. I loved every bite! Congrats to Harper's on a GF bun that tastes tasty and in no way "GF". I also appreciated the option to order a "no carb" lettuce bun. Overall, there are a million combinations, and I don't think you could be disappointed. Can't wait to return! read more

We saw this place featured on "You gotta eat here" so we went. The onion rings were good. Everything else was terrible. The veggie dog, which I had was like two tubes of soft, "silken" tofu, in a semi firm skin. I was one of the worst things I've ever eaten. I wished I lived in Kingston for Harper's. The burgers were delicious and filling! I got the 6oz with ground beef (which is locally sourced!) and it was super juicy. You choose a side to go with your burger and the waffle fries was definitely a good choice - it was soft and evenly salted. The presentation of the food was well put together and simple. The waiter was extremely nice. On a Wednesday night, my friend and I didn't expect the restaurant to be super packed, but we still didn't have to wait long for our food. It felt like forever since we were starving and the restaurant just smelt amazing; but, it only took about 15 minutes for the food to be sent to our table. Definitely one of the best burger I had in my life. They even have chickpea burger for those vegetarians! This restaurant is a definite try if you are in downtown Kingston. Okay so it's easier for me to just list all the good menu options I've had the pleasure of indulging in! - Deep fried pickles! 10/10 - Fries, especially SPICY WAFFLE FRIES! - Gravy is bomb! - Amazing poutine, try the "some pig!" - Salads are tasty! - I've tried and loved all these burgers; #1, #2 (FAV!), #6, #9, and obv. #11! - If you're new or want a good way of trying new burgers, get the sliders! I think that sums up everything me and my friends have loved. There have been burgers we haven't liked, but that's on us! A friend recommended I check out this restaurant next time I was in Kingston. The selection of burgers was very different but more or less consistent with what you would expect from a gourmet burger place. Being it was my first time here selecting from the menu was a little difficult but luckily #20 is a slider sampler which works perfect for a newbie. The restaurant is fairly small but seemed to handle the flow of customers smoothly although it was a Sunday afternoon. I'd assume a Saturday night may be much different. Our orders were taken quickly and the wait seemed to be a longer than I expected based on the size of the restaurant it took about 25-30 minutes to get our food. Upon getting our orders my first though was 'boy these sliders are small.' They were about twice the size of a toonie and overcooked. The fries were alright but nothing special. Luckily it's not overly high priced so I am willing to come back again but will not order the sliders. read more

By far, my favourite burger joint in town. Burgers are delicious. They are the perfect size, nicely cooked, and come with the right amount of toppings/dressings (I hate messy burgers). Also, definitely opt for the waffle fries as a side dish. I can easily come here just for those! The Cajun seasoning makes them even more amazing (if that is even possible)! Harper's Burger Bar exceeds the hype! Meaty burgers left by boyfriend and his brother impressed, while I was awed by delicious vegetarian options! I have eaten at Harpers twice now, and it doesn't disappoint! The staff are delightful, the food is sinfully delicious and it has some of the best vegetarian options of any restaurant in Kingston. I recommend in particular the mushroom burger to any of my veg friends. A create your own burger style menu also helps for anyone who knows exactly what they want on their burger. The onion rings are to die for, and are served with some of the most delicious flavoured mayos I have ever tried. I do not live in Kingston, but I visit frequently, and rest assured I will be back at Harper's before long! read more

After we complained we learned that the server took more than fifteen minutes to enter our orders in the system. When we eventually got our orders, two of the orders were so overdone that we had to return them. Our servers were apologetic and took the two orders off our bill but they were not very sincere.
