The attitudes of the staff is ridiculous and the wait is EXTREMELY LONG!!!! They no longer take Medicaid and barely want to take Medicare. I'd rather go back to Midwest eye which is where we will be going, Dr. Kiersten is just too slow for me & really doesn't have compassion for the patients . DO NOT GOT TO THIS PLACE . IT IS A RIP OFF !!!!!!!!! The doctors and the staff are incompetent. I just moved to Ohio and and needed a new ophthalmologist and glasses . Judging by the façade and location of the store, it looks like it would be a nice, reputable place, however, looks are deceiving . I literally had to go back in OVER AND OVER, TOO many times after the initial visit. Each time seeing the doctor with a new prescription, and EACH time DIFFERENT measurements (which they never got correct). I know some people have no qualms spending $1,000 or more on a pair of glasses, but that usually consists of a designer frame. This was not a designer frame situation. They had me feeling like I was being unreasonable in my expectations (ie: wanting to see clearly). Meanwhile, total I spent $1,000 on a pair of progressive glasses, with insurance, and these are the shittiest glasses I've ever owned. Management can't be bothered with any sense of decent customer service, especially the store manager, I wish I had gotten her name, because she was a special kind of condescending. Literally every time I went in there I felt like I was an inconvenience to them and always made to feel rushed. I have worn glasses most of my life and I have never ever had such a horrible experience like this before. What a JOKE! read more

I have been a patient for some time and my most recent visit proved to be the most cutting edge treatment. Dr. Gibberman is the guy to see! He is current with outside the box options on contacts, glasses etc. to assist patients with seeing better and improving their eyesight and health of the eye. We are so very lucky in Cincinnati to have such an inclusive practice that pays special attention to new innovative eye medicine. Thanks Harpers! I went to the harpers point office at 8211 Cornell and saw Dr. Kiersting today. I had an appointment at 1pm. I had asked when I made my appointment to get fitted for contacts. I also mentioned it to the front desk, and to the ladies checking my eyes before I saw the dr. I didn't get a contact fitting as it turns out when I got ready to leave. I asked if I could buy contacts and they said the Dr. didn't do that and he had already left for the day. I also made mention to the ladies who check my eyes that I had a bump on my left upper eye lid. They made notes about it. They also checked me for color blindness. Apparently I missed some. They said the Dr would talk about all of this with me once he saw me. I went in for my appointment with the Dr and all he did was check my eyes for my prescription. I made mention of my spot on my eyelid. He didn't say anything further about it or look at it. He also didn't mention anything about the color blind test. Do I have a partial color blindness? I couldn't see some of the numbers. I felt like I was being rushed to get out of there when I was with the Dr. When I found out that he had not fitted me for contacts. They said he had already left for the day for vacation. No wonder I felt rushed. Now I have to come back another day which is irritating. Before I left I did look at some frames. There was a nice lady who helped me. When I asked about my insurance and getting glasses. She said something about she doesn't do that part of it. So I just decided to ask her for the numbers of the frames so I can get them online... If nobody wants to help me get glasses, then ill get them someplace else. This is my first time with your office and I was really hoping for a great experience. It wasn't. Also I tried emailing this to you at your info@harperspointeye.com. My regular optometrist didn't take my new insurance so I made an appointment here because a friend of mine sees Dr. Zelchek. She warned me that they are always running late and to get the first appointment of the day. I did just that, and even confirmed that I indeed had the first appointment with the office the day before. I arrived about 5 minutes prior to my appointment time to fill out my paperwork, which I did speedily and they collected my co-pay. Once I sat, I wasn't called back for another 15 minutes while the staff chit chatted in the room behind the front desk which was infuriating in itself but I just hoped they were entering my info and that's why it was taking so long. Once I was brought back for the initial tests the nurse/assistant does, everything went fine, but then she sat me in a waiting area outside an exam room, and shortly thereafter the doctor walked out with a family of 4 into another exam area. Thought this was odd since I was the "first appointment of the day" but figured he'd finish up with them quickly and be on to me. NOPE. Another TWENTY minutes of waiting and I finally got up and went out to the front desk and informed them that I needed to get back to work and it was nearly an hour past my appointment time and I still hadn't seen the doctor. The first words out of her mouth were "do you want to reschedule?" NO, I don't want to reschedule, my eyes are dilated, so I want to see a DOCTOR. She got the doctor and he was clearly annoyed that I had asked for someone to see me. He wasn't unprofessional, but it was obvious he thought I was overreacting or something. These guys clearly don't know how to manage an office, and have no respect for their patient's time. I would normally give them the benefit of the doubt that maybe they were having an "off day" but after talking to my friend she confirmed that this is pretty much how it always is. I'll be paying the out of network fees to return to my previous optometrist. read more

I have never had to walk out on an appointment at a doctor's office until today. My experience at Harper's Point Eye Associates was unbelievably bad on so many levels I actually created a yelp account to write this review and warn others. My appointment was @ 10am, I arrived about 10 minutes early and was handed the standard paperwork to fill out. Upon completion, The receptionist told me I needed to pay a $120 "fitting fee" for contact lenses upfront and was very insistent on getting it right there and then. I know this" fee" is standard, although nonsensical, when getting an eye exam but it is usually a fraction of $120. For the past 5 years I've gone to an optometrist in Beverly Hills (where overhead/cost of doing business is significantly higher) and his fee was $70 at most. The place where I'm going on Wednesday is charging me $40. Since I had already taken time off work and was running out of contacts I decided to suck it up and pay. I waited for another 10 minutes or so and was called back by the assistant. She performed all of the diagnostic tests and told me to sit in the examination room. Although I didn't make any kind of noticeable scene the receptionist and assistant could definitely tell I was upset yet did not offer even a hint of an apology. Instead, she sat me in the examination room to wait some more. At 10:50 I was still waiting for the doctor and started to lose my patience. AT 10:58 I couldn't take it any more and walked out. I went back up to the desk on my way out and asked for a refund for my $120 which I got.; but once again the receptionist was unapologetic and it seemed like this was standard for her. If this place is going to charge insulting prices for trivial procedures they should at least provide timely service and hire help that is competent enough to recognize when a patient is upset and be able to handle the situation. Definitely the worst experience I've had (and probably will ever have) at a doctor's office in my entire life. read more

This was my first time going to an optometrist that wasn't attached to a mega store or inside a mall. I had high hopes! The office is open later on Tuesday night than normal and I snagged one of the last appointments of the day to give me time to fight the traffic from downtown. I arrived 10 minutes early and filled out my new patient paperwork. And was ready on time for my appointment. I was called back after a few minutes and went through a couple of the initial tests. No problem at all! I was then taken to a waiting area where I waited for about 15-20 minutes for the exam before mine to be over. Once the previous exam was done and cleared out I was taken into the exam room and had a seat. I then sat and waited for another 30 minutes. All in all I waited for the doctor to see me for 50 minutes! I stepped out of the room to check a few times and they said he'd be in to see me and they hadn't forgotten about me. By the time the doctor came in to see me I was so annoyed and frustrated that my time wasn't respected and my entire evening was spent there waiting on the doctor. I had hoped to spend some time in the eyewear shop in the front of the building picking out my new frames. But by the this time I was tired and frustrated and annoyed and really just wanted to get home. The interactions with everyone working at Harper's Point Eye was good! I was hoping that this was a fluke but after reviewing the other reviews here I'd say it's pretty consistent. So, I'm definitely not making the trek back up to this office and wasting my time again waiting. read more

Run Fast and Run Far!!! Worst experience of my life!! My right eye was so messed up from the dilation - I couldn't wear my contact for weeks. Six exams and six sets of contacts later, I was told it was my age and I would never be able to see clear again. I got a full refund of my money. I went to the one on Kemper Springs - LOVED that place with it was Dr. Williams, now I wouldn't set foot in their if they were giving away contacts!!! read more

Good doctors but their office help stink! I was quoted that my replacement frames would be $12. They ordered the wrong frames, was told they would order the right frames and when I picked them up they were $100. I was never told of the difference in price. Won't be going back there! read more

My husband experienced a vision problem so he made an appointment at Harper's Point Eye Care. We got a fast appointment and are appointment time was pretty much as schedule and after several test, it was determined that it was not his eye causing the problem, the Dr immediately contacted a local facility to do an mri which detected the problem. Harper Point was so helpful in getting this arranged. We found ALL the staff to be very friendly and courteous. My husband will need glasses in the near future and we will return to them for his prescription. read more

I have been taking my 12 yr old daughter to see Dr. Spect for years. She is fantastic and very patient. She has a wonderful bedside manner and my daughter always feels comfortable. My daughter desperately wanted to wear contacts at the age of 10 and we went back 2 times to help her get the hang of putting them in. The contact fitting person was so patient and really helped ease her anxiety by being supportive during the process. I recently ordered contacts through the wrong office. It was a Sat, so the location that had them was closed. My daughter was leaving for camp the next day. It was my fault and Bobbi was so nice to give me a contact to get her through and had the contacts directly overnighted to the camp 1st thing Monday Morning. Wow! This place is awful & I would give it zero stars if I could. Anyone who's willing to rip of a Medicaid patient is scum in my book. I used to go to Wings but unfortunately they no longer take my insurance (Buckeye/Medicaid). So I went to Harpers Point Eye Associates (Norwood location) for an eye exam & for contacts. They told me that there was a contact fitting fee of $150 AFTER they had already walked me in the back & started the exam. I had never even heard of a contact fitting fee before because the 2 other eye doctors I've been to charged less than my insurance's $50 allowance. So I had to walk back up front & when I got up there the receptionist changed the price from $150 to $160. I should have just trusted my instincts & walked out, but I needed contacts so I paid them the $110. Everyone working there seemed rushed & like they hated their jobs, including the doctor, they were very unfriendly. After I saw the doctor I asked if they would price match competitor prices for contacts (Wings always did) & they refused & acted like I was crazy for even asking. I asked if I could have my prescription because I could order them cheaper online & they wouldn't even give me my prescription! They told me that I had to call them back in a few days & let them know if I liked the trial pair of contacts & then they could either fax it, mail it, or I'd have to come back in & pick it up. Now I've got to call these slime balls back & make a separate trip just to get my prescription!! I did a little research about contact fitting fees when I got home & this place charges the max amount. I would have been better off going back to Wings & paying out of pocket because they only charge $40 for a fitting fee. I can't believe this place is on Medicaid's list of providers. This place is aful & a total rip off! I wanted to warn other people not to make the same mistake that I did & get taken advantage of a place like this when I'm sure there are WAY better doctors out there! read more

I've been going to Harper's Point Eye Associates since 1994. I currently live 650 miles away, and I still go back to Harper's Point for my regular optometry exams. I've seen all of the doctors and have always had great experiences. The staff is incredibly friendly and helpful. Ready for another 20 years with Harper's! read more
