We had a new electric dryer coming for our rental property that required a 240v volt line. This had to be run almost 35 feet and be done around the tenants furniture while cutting into the drywall as little as possible. I tried two other places but they couldn't come for about a week. Max was available the next day. He quoted me a reasonable amount for the work and was confident he could it in a few hours. He arrived a few minutes late (less than 10) but in DC traffic in the morning I am not surprised and he texted me in advance that is was an issue. He ran the line while only cutting two small holes by using conduit to cover the cabling. He kept it in the corners and as out of sight as possible. He sent pictures of the work when he was done and cleaned up after himself. He charged a bit more than the estimate but, again, was clear on why. We saw the reviews on Yelp, so we hired them to install two ceiling lights. They succeeded with the kitchen ceiling light, but they were unable to install the dining room light. They claimed the dining room light was defective, so we ordered another dining room light. On the second visit, Harris Electric was still unable to install the replacement dining room light, and then the installer said he needed to pick up his daughter from daycare and would return the next day. He never did. Subsequent calls and text messages to Harris Electric were never returned. Since the dining room light was hanging precariously from the ceiling for several days, we hired another electrician, who installed it in 30 minutes. The replacement electrician said it was a simple installation and could not understand how Harris Electric could not figure this out. I wish Harris Electric the best, but I did not have a good experience. The biggest issue was they never returned my calls and text messages...if they said they were incapable of finishing the job, I would at least have closure and move on. read more

I was contacted by Mike Harris within hours of my service request and he came out on a Sunday to service my home. He arrived within my appointment window and quickly diagnosed my issue. He did have to cut into the drywall of my home, but ensured that he would cause a minimal damage as necessary. And as promised he repaired all my outlets with a minimal amount of damage to my wall, and all for even less than he quoted. I can finally give my review. I found Harris Electric Company on Yelp because of the good reviews. I originally messaged them last summer asking for price quotes to install a doorbell so that my Ring Video Pro doorbell could be installed. I reached back out to Harris Electric Company and set up for them to come out one Saturday in February. Max and another man showed up on time and installed my new doorbell chime and transformer(I think thats what its called) and then install my Ring Video Pro doorbell. Unfortunately the Ring Video Pro doorbell never worked due to a defect in the Ring doorbell itself(which took a few weeks of troubleshooting both with Ring customer service and Max and him coming back out at no additional charges). Thankfully I was able to get a replacement Ring Video Pro doorbell and Max came back out and quickly swapped out the defective Ring Video Pro doorbell for the new one that worked. He stayed around until it was installed and working. I feel like most contractors would have charged me for coming out to take a look at wiring and help me troubleshoot but Max did not. I will definitely use Harris Electric Company again. They were professional, friendly, reasonably priced and very helpful even when they did not need to be. read more

Before even suggesting I hire them, they offered me some things to try to fix it myself. Unfortunately those did not resolve the issue, so I had them come out. They were able to come out within a day of me contacting them. They called in advance of our scheduled meeting time to let me know they were on their way. The electrician who arrived was very friendly and competent. He fixed the issue within 30 minutes. He also explained to me how to fix it myself the next time. We had someone come out to fix our kitchen lights. They shorted the system in the process so that a whole other set of lights would no longer operate. We paid $250 for the service. When we called multiple times for them to return to fix the problem, we got the run around. "Coming at 6pm tonight, coming tomorrow at 8am, coming between 2-3pm, need to talk to a technician before coming and on and on ..." During our last conversation I asked point blank, are you ever going to come back? He couldn't answer and told me to go ahead and write a poor review. I took off work because they said it was a 3-day job, but they only worked for 2-3 hours each day. They twice missed appointments, and were very rude and not at all apologetic. GREAT company! I called and emailed several electrical companies to replace the track lighting in my kitchen, which suddenly went out. Harris Electrical was the only one to respond promptly (while most did not respond at all). They came out the same day and quickly diagnosed the problem: the dimmer switch failed, not the transformer for the lights. However, we were ready to replace the halogen lights with LEDs anyway, and bought a nice LED kit from Home Depot. James arrived an hour earlier than projected, and he was efficient, thorough but quick, and the price was lower than quoted. I can't speak highly enough about Jonty Harris and his employees. I have used them to install ceiling fans, add outlets and do a variety of other electrical projects. They arrive when promised, do good work, provide drywall repair when needed, and charge a fair price. They also are quite skilled. For example, a string of track lights in the kitchen went out. One electrician (who we did not hire for a fan install when they arrived late and overpriced) said the lights had to be replaced. The Harris electrician tightened a lose connection and they work fine. So does the third ceiling fan he installed today.
