But they ghosted me and I never received an estimate, even after I left a several messages over the next week or two. Maybe they were super busy during the holidays? I found another terrific small electrical company (Dependable One Electrical) and they communicated well, had a good estimate, scheduled in a timely way and did an excellent and quality job --so we still had a great outcome for our outlet install for our new induction range. I would still like to hear from RA on another job he and I discussed-- installing a new over-the-range microwave and venting it to the outside, which he indicated was quite doable. I asked for a separate estimate for that since not all electrical companies do the venting to the outside work since it involves more than electrical. Robert is easily the best contractor we've hired since buying our home in Upper NW DC last summer. We originally found him on Yelp for a minor lighting/electrical issue we had in our condo a couple of years ago, so when we moved to a three story home built in the 1950s, that we had no idea how to manage, Robert was one of the first people we called to help us begin to get things in order. Scheduling with his office manager is incredibly easy. No phone tag or lack of follow up here. Robert is prompt, incredibly knowledgable, communicative, straightforward with pricing (which we find very reasonable for the quality of the jobs he performs), personable, and patient. His work is extremely clean and stylistic. He consistently has a keen eye for what will look the best in any particular area and has produced the highest quality results for our projects. His areas of expertise are vast - we have hired him to test and re-label both our indoor and outdoor electrical panels (which had last been labeled in the 1950s, with a typewriter!), wire both the main level and upstairs of our home for cable television (the previous owners had only had a tv set in the basement, no television or cable connection throughout the rest of the home), repair our outdoor lighting system, remove unnecessary/no longer in use cables from the side of our house, install a Nest video doorbell camera to connect to our old-fashioned, relatively complex doorbell that rings with actual golden chimes inside our house, and install two outdoor Nest cameras on the sides of our home. Though all of these projects, he has been incredibly patient and kind about any questions we've had and is a positive person to work with. We will soon be hiring him to install ceiling lighting in our large formal living room, and feel confident that such an undertaking will be done beautifully with Robert at the helm. Given that we are new homeowners of an older house, it is very important to us that all work be done subtly so as not to sacrifice the integrity of the original unique design of our home. On one fateful and cold winter morning my electrical system started doing all kinds of weird things. While some lights in the house continued to work, many didn't. Most critical was the fact that the hot water and heat were out. Brrrrrrr! I called R&A around Noon and they were able to have a technician at my door by 1:30! I would STRONGLY recommend Robert Juarez and his team at R&A Electrical. We bought a new cooktop stove, and were told by the Lowe's contractor that they could not install it until we upgraded our fusebox. I called R&A on a "cold call" and asked Robert if he could help me asap, and he did! He came by the very next day, provided me with a very reasonable estimate, had his team schedule an install a day later, and -- although the project turned out to require more work than was originally expected -- he only charged me the estimated amount. His electricians were punctual, they were experienced and professional, and they took great care with their work -- minimizing disruption, wearing booties to protect our carpet, and making small incisions in drywall ... afterwards repairing, replacing, and repainting it expertly -- and cleaning up so that they left no trace of their having been here. Our house was built in the 1970's and has not had any major electric work done since. He knew his way around everything and was not phased by the older equipment. Had a tripped wire that wouldn't reset over the weekend. I called Robert first thing Monday (today) morning, and he was able to come by that same day in the afternoon. He gave me a 2 hour window and said he'd call an hour in advance. He did exactly what he said he was going to do. Punctual--1 point right there! Robert is extremely nice. He wore little booties in my house to ensure he didn't track in mud. It was raining today. He asked me what was wrong, and then walked me through the steps on how he was going to access the problem. He trouble-shooted and thought of all options. Robert figured out my issue within minutes and set to work. There was an issue with one of the circuits causing my outage--the outside lamp-post! Who knew. He asked if I wanted to fix it, close it, etc. Since it was my very old lamp-post I never use, and it would require looking at the wire underground outside, I didn't want to do all that today. I asked him to just shut the line off. That would be a project for a warm day that wasn't raining and I had more time Done! Professional and friendly service. His rates are reasonable. I don't want to post them here because I think it really depends on what you're asking to be done and I don't want you to be tied to a certain number. But just know, I've had my share of electricians--and he's fair! Sometimes I feel that because I am a female, many electricians try to add on features, charge more, etc --because they think I don't have a clue. And to be honest--I don't. Haha. But speaking with family and friends, I always found out after the fact that I overpaid. Robert's company is very reasonable in my personal experience. Not to mention, I wrote the check out to be $5 more than the payment. He quickly pointed it out to me! He always explains issues in lay-man terms and doesn't look peeved when I'm asking a thousand questions. While he is very professional--his service takes you back to the old school days. Where you knew you electrician, trusted him, and he felt like one of the neighbors or something. You feel a sense of "home" and at ease. We have 15-year-old fancy track lighting built into the ceiling of our suite (former architectural firm), and were told by two other electricians that our lights were broken and we needed a complete, expensive overhaul.
