My friends and I were visiting Friday Harbor recently, and they booked a suite for us at the Tucker House Inn & Harrison House Suites, part of the San Juan Island Inn Collection. We were given the San Juan Suite. What WONDERFUL accommodations! The suite has two full bedrooms and a small room with a double bed on the renovated side porch (I chose that room, because of all the windows), two bathrooms, a full kitchen, living room, dining room, and deck with a private jacuzzi! WOW!! I felt so pampered! Every morning, Gene brought breakfast to us in bento boxes, and everything was so yummy! My favorite was the poached egg and Canadian bacon with tomato and baby asparagus on thick toast, accompanied by granola and peaches with yogurt. We had ordered milk and orange juice for breakfast, and when we arrived found that the refrigerator was stocked with a fresh quart of each for us. There was also ground coffee for the coffeemaker and a fine selection of teas. We dined well! The furnishings in the suite are elegant and retro without being dated, while the kitchen and bathrooms are completely modern. Even with four people, we felt that there was ample space for us all. Our beds were all quite comfortable, and the temperature controls could be adjusted room by room so that each of us were guaranteed a pleasant sleep. The grounds around our lodging were gorgeously landscaped and beautifully maintained. It was wonderful to wake up in the midst of loveliness every morning! The Inn & Suites are just a few blocks from downtown Friday Harbor and the ferry landing, so we were able to easily walk to all the local attractions, shopping, and restaurants. That was a hidden benefit because parking downtown was often scarce. To say our stay in the San Juan Suite was idyllic would be an understatement. It made a wonderful vacation even more wonderful by giving us a place to return to and relax in comfort and elegance. I am DEFINITELY returning to the Tucker House Inn & Harrison House Suites! We stayed in the Lopez Suite at Harrison House in early October. What a lovely place! This suite has a view of the bay, with the ferries coming and going, and other windows that look out into the tree tops. There's a full kitchen, very well equipped, and a comfortable living room. It's all very cozy and home-like in a historic house. We could walk downtown within minutes. The staff is also very friendly and helpful. We hope to return soon! read more

Our fifth visit to Harrison house/Tucker house. This time the Shaw suite. This is a stand alone unit next to the kitchen. It is roomy with a queen bed and day bed. Has its own kitchen and small bathroom. We liked the fireplace at night as it was snowing while we were there. At bedtime we opened a window for some fresh air. Breakfast day one was an interesting onion quiche with potatoes and fruit. It was ok, nothing to brag about. I thought it was a daring dish to serve considering it was all onions. Day two was a polenta bowl with ham, kale, peppers, cheese, and a poached egg. Baked pear for fruit and homemade yogurt and granola. Liked the polenta bowl much more than the quiche. Fresh baked cookies each day is always something to look forward to. We have several more rooms to explore so we will be back! read more

I came here with family for 2 nights and 3 days during the summer. We stayed in the Lopez Suite, which has a max occupancy of 8 people. We found Harrison House Suites by chance because everywhere else around the area was already reserved and booked. I honestly wasn't sure what to expect when we arrived. However, after spending 3 days there, all I could think was, "Damn, this is what it feels like to be spoiled as hell." How spoiled? I'm still trying to lose the weight that I put on in the 3 days I was here in July. Breakfast here is served promptly at 8-9 AM, as well as additional homemade snacks like pastries and granola. I would go out to eat an overly filling meal at a restaurant, and then come back to our suite expecting to sleep it off. Instead, there were baked goods on the table. Each night, I essentially ate myself into oblivion and felt like Jabba the Hut. I was so confused. I wasn't sure what to do or what to eat anymore, so I just ate everything. I have very good logic. Each and every space in their B&B is quaintly decorated with a homey feel, yet updated and modern. When you check-in, you enter a living room type of space and we were greeted by a lovely woman who gave us the ins and outs of the place. We originally booked the room for 6, but ended up having 2 others with us. She voiced no concern with that, so I thought that was a bonus. Sometimes hotels and Bed & Breakfast places are uptight about how many guests there will be before you check in, but not here. Everything they make for you here is fresh and delicious, and they can accommodate dietary needs. The entire suite is fully furnished from the bathroom to their kitchen. They have fresh orange juice and milk in the refrigerator; they refill it every morning, so there's no need to be conservative with the beverages. The cabinets are stocked with Nature Valley bars, tea bags, oatmeal, and other breakfasty-related items. There is a stove top, microwave, sink, knives, utensils, plates, everything you would need to cook a fine meal yourself. But why would you? You're in San Juan Islands. One thing to keep in mind is that this suite has only 1 bathroom. We had 8 people, and most of us were girls. Just think on that for a minute. Being neither a child nor an elder, there's a tendency to get the butt end of every deal. I showered here after everyone else, and pretty much had cold showers every night. I slept on a twin size in the kid's room, and the ceiling was like a foot away from my face. It was still the best 3 nights I have had, ever. Come here if you're looking for a place to stay on San Juan. Very pleasant people and service here, as well as a menu that you can't complain about. This B&B is also very close to the ferries, in case you're with any group of people who have poor time management. You could pretty much walk out of your room, roll down the hill, and you'll find yourself in line onto a ferry. read more

The staff at the San Juan Collection (Tucker and Harrison houses) is superb. Really could not improve on our experience. We had people there and willing to help if needed, but otherwise we had space, peace and quiet. They are well situated to the ferry and town. Food was spectacular - even catering to my need to abstain from gluten. If we could live within our time here, we would. Alas, even if only for a couple of nights, it pressed the necessary reset button. Definitely recommended. read more

My husband and I decided to take a weekend getaway to Friday Harbor and found the Harrison House Suites. The main reason for our stay here was that it was close to the downtown/ ferry, it was dog friendly (some rooms) and we got our own private hot tub. We stayed in the Roche Harbor suite. It was a cute 1-bedroom that had its own entrance and was dog friendly. When we arrived we got he full rundown of the island like local places to eat, drink and take the dog. They also had treats for us and our dog waiting for us in the suite which was great. In the suites you get breakfast delivered to you every morning which was always nice. They work with you to book fun things like in-room massages, which we scheduled and it was so great! Even though the Harrison House is dog friendly, the dog can't be left alone. This made it difficult since the island wasn't very dog friendly. We went to a few restaurants that wouldn't even let us sit outside with our dog. That being said we did find a cool off leash dog park and went to the local deli and got sandwiches to-go. If we come back to the island we would definitely stay here again. It's close to everything and the people who run it were great! read more

Just had a lovely time at the Harrison House Suites. This place was perfect and affordable. My mother and I stayed in the Lopez Suite. The suite had a full kitchen, full bath, a children's room, a small deck, and a master room with a very nice view, almost panaramic and on a hill. The master bedroom also had a large sofa that could pull out into a bed. The suite fit a table as well so that you could cook and eat meals in your suite if you preferred to do so. As you can see the room was big enough for a small group! I would definitely recommend Harrison House to families and friends. On top of the obvious amenities, it was great to see the extras that you might not think of asking about. One great thing about Harrison House was that pretty much everything we used was locally made. They had everything in from nearby areas: milk, soap, tea, fruit, etc. They also provided complimentary mountain bikes and kayaks, which was just amazing! Friday Harbor has many different places where you can Kayak and bike around. The in-house cook did a great job and so did the housekeeping! We stayed for two nights and the room looked better the second day somehow, I had chosen to use the fold out bed instead of staying in the children's room where three twin beds do rest. The maid fixed up the fold out bed with new sheets and extra blankets just to accommodate my random choice. Also, after leaving for the morning, when we returned we found delicious cookies! They were soooo good! I can't speak enough good about Friday Harbor. Our in was two blocks from the main street and there was a convenience store on the corner where we picked up some chilled wine. Just a great place! Careful though, the children's room may be haunted!!! (things worth mentioning: kitchen filled with utensils, fridge stocked daily with fresh juice and milk, tea and coffee in rooms, soap and bath products smelled lovely, jets in the bath, great view, vcr and dvd player in room, vhs and books scattered all over the property, book swap rules, books everywhere, office at the inn for guest use as well as a comfy living room, etc.) read more

My husband and I spent 2 nights here in the Orcas Suite, and enjoyed every minute. We were able to walk on from the ferry, and the B&B is a short walk, just a couple of blocks and one hill from the ferry. We were greeted with a cheery welcome, and picked up our keys and were in our room within 5 minutes - no fuss and bother! Prior to our arrival, I had asked if they would be able to accommodate our gluten free diet during breakfasts. I was assured that this would not be an issue - and it wasn't. Not only were all of our breakfasts gluten free, but delicious gluten free cookies appeared each afternoon as well. I should also add, this was gluten free done right - no tasteless mushy or stale substitutes, but flavorful and well textured options. Within our suite, we had a kitchenette with a mini fridge/freezer, toaster, microwave and all the fixings for tea, coffee and cocoa. Robes and slippers were provided for use, and wonderful soaps lotions and other toiletries were also available. It felt like every detail was taken care of. The guest information book had a wealth of information on island activities and places to eat. The main house, Tucker House, had a VHS lending library, as well as books and games. We found the bed with feather mattress top to be quite comfortable, and enjoyed our little hot tub for two on our private balcony. Our only regret was that we had to leave! We'll be back! read more

Two girlfriends and I decided to pay the little town of Friday Harbor a visit last weekend. Not only did the weather cooperate famously, but the personality of the place was more charming and pleasant than we had expected. We walked on the ferry both ways and loved how accessible everything was! We had no trouble finding our hotel, restaurants, drinks, ice cream, music, farmer's market, etc. What a perfect place to get away. We stayed in the Shaw Suite at the Harrison House, which was perfect for three girls on a budget. It slept us all comfortably and felt like a studio apartment. The staff was friendly, and the amenities abundant: kitchen facilities, hot tub, wi-fi, a place to watch movies (albeit VHS tapes :)), bicycles, kayaks, cookies on arrival, etc. The lodging was comfortable, the breakfast was incredibly delicious (fresh fruit & homemade granola, spinach quiche with a side of ham, yogurt, and a berry tart: with optional in-room delivery), and it seemed everything in the place was handmade and available for purchase (soap, lotion, bath robes, dog treats, etc.). . not to mention the restaurant in town also owned by the innkeepers (Coho). We made last-minute plans to go to San Juan Island for Christmas with the dogs, and of course we stayed at our long-time favorite, Harrison House. We went deluxe and stayed in the huge San Juan Suite, which has a big deck, hot tub, big living room, full kitchen, and three bedrooms. So nice to have a real living room with a view, full kitchen, and the real dining room--though you would never want to skip going down to the breakfast room for the four-course breakfast (fab nutty granola, fancy fruit, gourmet entree, and dessert). The cooking here is always excellent, and they will customize to suit any dietary preference. We have stayed here many times since Anna Maria and Dave took over a a few years ago, and can't imagine a better place to stay. The location is great, quiet but central. We especially like all the nice walks you can take, including some with great views, from the suites, and being able to wander downtown without moving the car. read more

I'm only giving this for stars because I feel like that you price range listed on here is incorrect it's definitely expensive and something that I would only do as a Splurge weekend. But the quality that you get for the price that you pay is definitely worth it for a nice weekend in my opinion. We stayed in the Friday Harbor suite and the service was excellent everyone was extremely accommodating it was clean, warm, and just inviting all around. We had in room massages which was great. We were four mature adults looking for a nice relaxing vacation and found it at the Tucker House. We rented the San Juan suite which came fully furnished with a beautiful kitchen, living room, dining room, lovely bedrooms and an outdoor deck with a grill. We did some cooking on our own, and thoroughly enjoyed the gourmet breakfasts. The suite was quiet and peaceful. Patrick is one of the key people at the site and was so helpful. Since it's walking distance from the ferry we were able to island hop, and also explore Friday Harbor. If you want to spoil yourself, this is a great place to go. read more

I have to say I really enjoyed this bed and breakfast until check out. Just as the other review said, it was nice and very comfortable. Upon arriving I asked Anna Maria, the innkeeper, about a gift card I was planning on using to pay for the room and was assured it wouldn't be a problem to use it. I even told her exactly where it was from- bedandbreakfast.com. Well, I go to check out and guess what? They say they can't redeem it. When I expressed my concern, I pretty much got a "Sorry, you can just leave the room key on the table." They weren't too concerned. I had plans to return to the same suite in spring, but have now decided to go somewhere else. I felt like I was promised one thing and then got the switch at the very end. I am very disappointed and expected more. read more

If you have a dog and are staying in Friday Harbor then look no further. A great B&B located a stone's throw from the ferry. The suites are well appointed (we stayed in the Orcas Suite with hot tub and view of the harbor). Really friendly (especially dog friendly) staff. The breakfasts are simply fresh and delicious. Excellent location to walk anywhere in town and there is a great park across the street for the dogs to take care of business. We stayed at Tucker House (same owner) last year and were equally impressed. We'll be back next year. read more

So glad we picked this B&B for our first San Juan Island adventure. What a great place to lay our heads after a day of site seeing . The breakfast , the granola, the afternoon cookies.... Deliciouso!!!! The Orca suite bed is so very comfortable and the sheets and pillows heavenly and the bed view to the harbor is real nice . We used the private deck jacuzzi 2x out of our 4 day visit and the sound of the jacuzzi sounds is like private waterfall.With the windows open you can nap, hear the ferry boat horn... What an ideal room The kitchenette for coffee and juice in the am was also so very convenient. The suite is very clean and the showers were great along with their very own bath product . I used so much body lotion because I wasn't used to the dry air. Sorry I was constantly lathering I think I used half the bottle in 3 days . The robes were so yummy If I had to pick one thing that needs a tweak might be the towels. Iam sure they wash tons of towels daily,however Some were new and fluffy and wonderful and some have lost their comfort, were scratchy and dry. Iam a towel person so this may not have bothered anyone else I might get rid of the old ones altogether and bring in the new. We were planning a trip to Victoria BC and I thought it would be a good idea to visit Friday Harbor and spend one night there as part of our trip. After researching various hotels and B&Bs I choose the Harrison House Suites. We picked the Orcas suite because it had a BBQ and Jacuzzi tub on the outside deck. When we arrived we were greeted and told were our room was. The room was very nice with a comfortable bed, a deck wIth a partial view of the harbor and coffee and assorted teas in the room. We spent an enjoyable day driving around the island and went back that evening to BBQ our dinner. The suite had all the plates, silverware and utensils needed for the BBQ and dinner. It was great. Then we decided to use the jacuzzi - it didn't work. After checking the plug I couldn't get it to work so I called the night number of the hotel. It rang threw to voicemail and then said "voicemail box is full". So much for our romantic Jacuzzi. The next morning they delivered a hot breakfast they prepared in their kitchen which was very tasty. Then we left for the ferry to Victoria. I would give them 5 stars on everything except not being able to get a hold of someone after hours that's why only 3 stars. The reason I booked this place was the bbq and the jacuzzi and not being able to do that put a crimp in our evening. read more

My husband and I spent 4 nights in the 4 winds suite. Overall I'd come back, but only after seeing if there was something better on the island. I did have a wonderful time though, I just expected better considering how expensive that room was. The bedroom: 4 stars. Nice bed, enough space (though it's certainly smaller than the pictures make it look). Could use a few updates though... the antique look is great, but those suitcases had tons of stains from glasses, etc. and they were starting to look a little gross. Same went for the water pitchers they provided (the rubber stoppers were a little moldy). The bathroom: 5 stars! Awesome, large Jacuzzi, nice large shower with neat tile design. Very clean! Breakfast: 2-3 stars :( The pictures online make them all look amazing, but they are sort of lacking when you arrive. Examples include things like fresh fruit that wasn't even close to ripe (crunchy, bitter peaches), this breakfast pizza thing that was just a thick tough piece of flavorless bread with an under-cooked poached egg. They were certainly trying, but every single breakfast there really needed some work. I do appreciate the 3 course breakfasts though. The desserts were definitely the best part though. And the granola was also very good! Hospitality: 2-3 stars. They are very nice when you actually talk to them and ask for stuff, but at most B&Bs you get a little tour and they tell you about the history of the place, etc. We didn't really get much of that. During breakfast too, one guy in the kitchen really wasn't acting very professional as he spoke to the other workers (dude, you know we can all hear you, right? Even if you whisper, the kitchen is really close to the dining room...). As for the location, the balcony overlooks more rooms and it was a bit noisy. Wish it was on a quieter side, but not a big deal considering that it's in town. Being close to the main downtown part was also nice, so pros and cons (noisy vs. close to everything). Lastly, I'd really request that they do a little more to air out the place when it was hot! The upstairs hallways was unbearable (90F outside, felt even hotter in that hallway) and there was a window that no one ever opened! Air conditioning would also be nice too considering how much they charge... read more

We just had a lovely stay at the Harrison House Suites. The host was accommodating, kind and lovely from the first moment to the last. The location of the B&B is just a short walk from the docks and conveniently located to everything Friday Harbour has to offer. We stayed in one of the suites that had a private entrance, bathroom and deck with a mini hot tub for two. Welcoming us was thoughtful sweets and in the fridge was milk and juice there was also coffee, tea snack bars, and oatmeal. We had a wonderful stay and highly recommend Harrison House Suites to anyone looking for a stressless cozy thoughtful place to stay. read more

I recently stayed in the Shaw Room at the Harrison House Suites. The room simply was not comfortable. There wan't one comfortable place to sit and read. The bed was shoved against the wall so the "inside" person had to crawl over the "outside" person or go over the foot of the bed (and the bed sagged). Also, the room is a daylight basement so the view is either tail pipes or bumper blocks. The charge for one night's stay was over $200. The manager is aware of my feelings. Don Walker read more

We stayed in the Friday Harbor Suite, and it was absolutely amazing. The bed was extremely comfortable, the double waterfall shower was spectacular, and the private natural springs hot tub on the balcony was even better. We had snacks and beverages waiting for us when we got there, and a complimentary breakfast every morning that was healthy and absolutely delicious. My dog was more than accommodated; she had home made healthy dog biscuits waiting for her, and a bowl for food and water. The staff here was so helpful with any of our questions about the area, where to get food etc. they went out of their way on more than one occasion to make sure our stay was as comfortable as possible. Oh, and did I mention how cozy the fireplace in front of the bed is?!? I would definitely come back here again, and again. read more

We travel quite a bit so our children got us a quick getaway, on Friday Harbor at Tucker House, as a Christmas gift. We stayed in the Friday Harbor Suite which is beautifully remodeled. We didn't arrive with enough time to use the hot tub as the quiet hour starts early at 9pm. So, we settled in for the night and tossed and turned as one wall heater and the refrigerator took turns competing for loudest appliance. I don't think anyone told them about the quiet hours. Not to be out done the damper in the stove vent clicked and clanked in rhythm with the wind storm outdoors. I am quite sure the damper has a great sense of humor, since every time we began to doze off it set in with such a clutter I sprang up to see what was the matter. Not a wink of sleep was had by all. The next morning breakfast arrived promptly at 9:30am as promised. Beautiful omelets full of spinach, cheese and mushrooms. Since we didn't list our food dislikes as this was a gift, my husband went without breakfast. The good news is he was so sleepy I don't think his stomach was awake anyway. I did tell the breakfast lady about the troubles, but no sympathy there. No offers to make it right. Well truthfully she did offer to make him something else after we checked out, with the car loaded, on the way to the ferry. We probably came across as wimps to this honest hardworking islander. So in summation be sure to list every food you don't like so you aren't served something you don't like. There is only what they make for you, no menu. And unless you like orchestrated out of tune appliances bring earplugs. read more

This is my favorite bed and breakfast. The hosts are fantastic, the rooms are pretty, well appointed and cozy. There are bicycles available to borrow. The suites are close to down town restaurants, shopping and the movie theater. The breakfasts are absolutely delicious. They spoil us whenever we stay. Dog friendly rooms too! read more

Two families shared this beautiful space and absolutely ADORED it! We had the Lopez Suite and it was simply lovely. So warm and colorful, great view, plenty of space for the kids to spread out. Right near the ferry terminal, restaurants and shops so a perfect location as well. The proprietor gave us a very friendly greeting and made us feel right at home. Delicious breakfast was served to our door int he morning. We were very happy with out experience and will definitely be back! read more
