Stay Away! Owner cancelled my reservation! I managed vacation rentals for a living, so I know bad customer service when I see it. I booked a reservation and notified him a day later that I wanted to make sure he knew there were three of us and not two. He said it would be an extra charge for another person. I told him we already paid over $400 dollars and there are two queens in the room? Also after rereading his rules/policies there is no such charge. I even told him I put in fictional dates two vs three people, and again no charge showed up for a third person. He replied saying "Please cancel this reservation as as we would rather not have you stay with us. I will waive the fee." And "I would not like to host you in my home" Wow man....stay away from here! read more

I stayed here for 2 nights with my wife, son and dog, then extended our trip for an additional night because we were having such a lovely time--despite the rainy weather. Farhad is an exceptional host and a true renaissance man: classical pianist, organic gardener, fermenter, baker, cook, rennovator, chicken farmer, pilot, and then some, I'm sure. Each evening, he'd drop homemade cookies (biscotti, coconut dark chocolate) off to our room with a private entrance, and two of the nights he gave us our own personal piano concert. He is quite the pianist! Breakfast was amazing, too. From sourdough, gluten-free, whole grain waffles with creme fraiche and jam, to a delectable veggie-packed fritatta with a side of delicious fruits and multigrain toast, I ate every crumb, every morn. He even offered seconds, much to my vacationing-gluttonous delight. And since we had to leave early our last day so we could make a mini-trip to Orcas Island on the way home, he packed us a nice breakfast to go with a stack of toast, butter, almond butter and 3 different homemade jams. Oh yeah, our room was nice as well, complete with mini-kitchen and a parking space right outside the door, plus a TV with Netflix and other channels (not that we actually watched it) and a "cool" electric fire place that warmed the room up really fast. My 4-year old kept saying how much he likes Farhad and asking if we can stay longer, then once we left he kept saying how much he wants to go back. We definitely will return, and I couldn't recommend staying here more. Blows a hotel stay out of the water like a killer whale's blowhole! Maybe next time I'll actually get to see one. read more

This must be the 1st choice or option for a B&B at Friday Harbor. Great location, really comfortable rooms, the most amazing breakfasts and a built-in tour guide (Mayor of Friday Harbor, Farhad Ghatan). Farhad is a "man of many talents" and this makes for a spectacular vacation. 8:30am Family-Style Breakfast is by far the best B&B breakfast I have ever experienced. Everything served is custom made. Persian Food, Persian look-a-like food, savory tasting foods, the best waffles or pancakes, super fresh and strong coffee and the list goes on. Farhad is an amazing cook and it is a highlight you won't find elsewhere. Farhad is currently the elected Mayor for Friday Harbor and he knows pretty much everyone and he will give you very good advice on who to go see, where to eat, where to rent anything from and just about everything in-between. I was travelling by myself and so I reserved a single room and bathroom and it was very comfortable. My bed was excellent. My brother and his wife were travelling with me and they reserved a larger room with a huge deck. Upon arrival, Farhad took us out back to check out his 16 chickens which produce an abundance of fresh eggs daily and also to inspect and taste apples right off one of his apple trees. He has a large garden that helps accommodate the breakfasts each morning. Each evening from 6:30 pm on Farhad plays the piano for great entertainment and the ability to meet other house guests. I have decided in the future to look for B&B's that are owned and operated by the Mayor of the respective town and this has a lot of benefits. read more

We will never stay here again! We booked the Orcas suite 3 months before travel and wrote explicitly that we were bringing our friendly Lab. Farhad did not read this note until the day that we were to check in, texted to say that we needed to work around his dog who is unfriendly and lives in the main house. Nowhere on the Orcas suite page did it say we couldn't have a dog or that the suite was in the main house. Also, as the host and owner, he had 3 months to let us know that this situation was not going to work out! We were very understanding but upon arrival, we were given a laundry list of things not to do with our dog in the room and that we must text him every single time we leave and enter the property so he can put his dog away. It is as ridiculous as it sounds. When we pushed back, his exact words were "well you have a phone" and "it's her house" and also a cold, half-hearted "sorry". I get that it is her house but it is his fault for overlooking this note. So we literally had to text him EVERY SINGLE TIME we wanted to enter the place and exit our room! We are guests, not random, unexpected people looking for a free stay. We paid over $540 to stay 2 nights! He never once attempted to remedy the situation. He also double charged us for the dog and only when we asked to see an itemized receipt that he refunded the money. Also, we were forced to have breakfast in our room. No choice, just that he overbooked and there would be too many people in the dining room during breakfast hour so he picked us out of everyone to stay and eat in our room. This was the most horrible, uncomfortable, unwelcoming, and inconvenient experience we have ever had staying at a place. It put a damper on our trip and the overall impression of Friday Harbor. It was so frustrating and infuriating. Would not recommend this place to anyone. If I could, I would give this a zero star experience read more

This was the best Mothers' Day weekend ever. Me & my daughter. Friday Harbor Grand is the very best. Rooms were clean, great, definite CV19 Protocols. Service was the best all the way around. In the evening are fresh cookies for every room. Mr. Frahod plays the Piano like no other if you love classical music with history of composer this is your guy and place to be. Location was close to every thing including the ferry for return. I would suggest you have a vehicle to go around the island, and enjoy all the lovely parks and beaches. The art work on Friday Harbor is phenomenal, out of this world great. Be sure and check out the sculpture park - kudos to the artists. Pricing was great you will love it. We stayed here as a large family group and had a wonderful time. Farhad and Trish are so kind and theyre amazing cooks. Breakfast was decadent every day and Farhad cooks with so many sprouted grains and fresh ingredients. It's all unique and amazing. We especially loved the Persian Frittata and the waffles. The accommodations were 5+ stars, the food was farm to table and delicious, the host thought of everything, the details were impeccable. (fresh flowers in our room, warm cookies in the evening, luxurious linens and ahh- that bed!) Mr. Ghatan, I thank you from the bottom of my heart for our beautiful long weekend. The music you shared touched me so deeply because of the atmosphere you created for which to enjoy, the historical information you provided before you played, the passion and artistry you bring to your craft. Witnessing Steinway sing under your direction was delightful. My husband surprised me with a Valentine's trip to Paris a few years back and I thought this was the highlight of my life, until now. Our room was beautiful, clean, cozy, with a mini-kitchen, cozy fireplace, and tons of channels like Netflix in case you find time to watch a movie in the evenings. And the property is on a well-kept, beautiful and convenient location near the restaurants and shops. But what made our stay even more special, is the owner, Farhad, who's one of a kind! He's a true renaissance man who's not only an amazing chef, where he made us the most delicious breakfasts each morning, delivering home-made, organic and delicious cookies every evening, but a classical pianist, and much more. This place is amazing! We had a group of 8 people who stayed here in June of 2021 for three nights and had the most fantastic time! Farhad is a terrific host, pianist and cook. The breakfasts every morning were delicious beyond words, as were the cookies every evening. The concerts on the grand piano were amazing, as was the recommendations about where to eat and what to see on the island. What a unique and wonderful experience! We just spent the past 3 nights at the Friday Harbor Grand. The Innkeeper, Farhad, is a treat! He is friendly and extremely knowledgeable. He is also a fabulous pianist. Each night he treats his guests to wonderful music. Breakfast is amazing, and can be served outside if the weather is right. His niece graciously brought place settings out to us so we could enjoy the weather. Most of the vegetables in our breakfast were straight from his garden, and the eggs from his chickens. We booked the Orcas suite, which I highly recommend. It has a great view of Mt. Baker and even a bit of an ocean view. The room was clean and spacious, and had a huge private balcony. The location is within waking distance from the Friday Harbor ferry terminal, but not right on the water. This didn't bother us, as the walk is very pleasant and there are plenty of places to sit and look at the water at the Harbor. Overall, it was a fun and welcoming experience, and I would recommend this place to anyone. read more

If you are traveling to Friday Harbor, you MUST stay at the Friday Harbor Grand. This B and B is a true gem! It's set in a quiet location off the main road, an easy walk from town, the ferry and the airport. The rooms are comfortable and nicely appointed. But, what excels the most is the wonderful owner Farthad, a true Renaissance man! Farhad redesigned and renovated this lovely Inn, using his own building and carpentry skills. He prepares a fabulous breakfast for the guests each morning, using local ingredients whenever possible. (Gluten free, too, although you'd never know it!). Farhad bakes his own bread each evening, which goes into the oven just after the freshly baked cookies are served, and before his piano concert begins on the Steinway baby grand, in the parlor. The breakfast this morning was wonderful all from his own organic garden and fresh eggs from his chickens. Farhad plays the piano at 7:30pm every evening and serves wine. Very relaxing atmosphere. The grounds are beautifully kept and parking is great. Location is only 2/3 blocks from the center of town. We will definitely be making another trip to Friday Harbor and staying here. read more

My husband and I booked the Friday Harbor Grand for our eighth anniversary and could not have been happier with the choice! Farhad is a consummate host who knows his town and freely gives information on the best things to do (or not to do) and the best places for dinner. The room was perfect and well put together; with everything, one would need to be comfortable. The furniture was very comfortable and luxurious. Farhad makes a phenomenal breakfast, mostly from the property with the organic garden he has on the property; the breakfast truly exceeded our expectations for a B&B breakfast with flavors and food choices that exceeded many a fine dining restaurant I have eaten at. And the piano music offered nightly is exquisite and a wonderful way to wind down a lovely day of Friday Harbor exploring. We had a question on our bill which turned out to ruin this place for us. When we asked why the bill was so much we were given a 225 refund for the miscalculation. When I asked again I was told the breakdown included 50 a night for my children. I have been through the whole website and don't see note of what the fee is over double occupancy. I was then charged again for the mistaken refund charge without being told! Give me a break, get your books together and legally he needs to post the fees being charge or it is arbitrary to the person being charged. read more

Truly, the best B&B in Friday Harbor Grand. The B&B is walking distance to the harbor, but is located in a quiet, peaceful area with beautiful views. The best part however is the owner, Farhad, who will exceed your expectations. For example, one morning, to my delight, he served a Persian breakfast that was authentic and scrumptious. We stayed here for a week in early July and found this a lovely place to spend some quality island time. The owner, Farhad, is friendly, helpful, and an amazing cook, delivering fresh cookies to our room daily, yum! The Blair suite is comfy and spacious, and we were well taken care of with delicious breakfasts each day. Farhad let us use his mountain bikes and helmets free of charge for some awesome bike rides, and we even did our laundry here on the last day. A gorgeous place to stay with a truly wonderful host. We had a wonderful 3 nights at the Friday Harbor Grand. This is brand new B&B with a house that is entirely remodeled so that all of the bedrooms have new bathrooms, wood floors and new furniture. We rented 3 rooms and all of them had small kitchenettes and refrigerators, as well. The rooms were all impeccable in decor, cleanliness and comfort. Each morning we were served an amazing, entirely made from scratch breakfast - fresh baked sourdough bread with home made jams, pancakes or waffles, a variety of fruits picked from the trees in his yard, a wonderful egg and vegetable dish (different each day). Coffee, smoothies, orange juice, etc. Our only complaint would be that it is too much food, but delicious! Farhad, the proprietor, is wonderful and sweet and always had good advice for activities during the day as well as restaurant recommendations. Although this B&B is newly opened, Farhad is long experienced in the business and runs the place flawlessly. How he gets everything done and stays so relaxed is a total mystery. He gives informal piano concerts in the evening, which are sweet. We can't think of a better place to stay, if we return to Friday Harbor. The location is very convenient - a short walk from everything, downtown, harbor & ferry, restaurants, rental car, grocery store. (One other plus worth mentioning, he has 4 bicycles that you can borrow - rentals are $40/day - so this is definitely great!) read more

Our stay with Farhad created a memory we hope to never forget. The room appeared new, or was at least so clean and well taken care of it felt new, the bed was cozy, and the amenities were perfect for a weekend stay or longer. Farhad's hospitality was incredible; it's clear the man enjoys being a host. It's always a treat / honor to meet a good quality person of service and he indefinably sets the bar high in that category. The breakfast he served was amazing; not you're typical sausage, bacon, and other heart stopping food, but a delightful treat of flavors made of his own recipes. The location was right up the road from the harbor, about a 7 minute walk on a gentle slope and on a quiet street. This is a terrific B and B. We stayed for 4 nights and rented 4 rooms on our family vacation. Each of the rooms were absolutely beautifully decorated, very comfortable, and had plenty of storage space for our clothes and luggage. Farhad, the innkeeper was an amazing host. He spoiled us with delicious breakfasts each morning which included an egg dish, waffles or pancakes, fresh fruit, freshly baked sourdough bread, homemade jams, coffee and juice. We stayed two night in the Evergreen Suite and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The rooms are stylish and contemporary, a big aesthetic improvement over the oh-too-common dust ruffles and doilies, and the room and bed was comfortable. Having an en suite kitchenette is a terrific idea for longer stays. The breakfasts are an impressive affair, fresh homemade and homegrown when possible, served at 8:30am to the group at large. Farhad is a delightful host and the evening piano music is a lovely way to wind down the day, as well as fresh baked cookies delivered to your door at night. The location is prime, an easy walk to downtown Friday Harbor or from the ferry, but it's also nice that parking is included. I would highly recommend this accommodation to my friends. read more
