Not that gray "airport medium" you usually get, but an actual proper medium rare. The meat was tender, well seasoned, and cooked evenly all the way through, and the bun held up without overpowering the burger. What really took this experience over the top, though, was the staff. Ambience is good as there's an enclosed bar adorned by tv screens everywhere giving that sports bar vibe. The bartender/servers are nice and helpful. The food is packed with sodium and prepackaged but that's what's expected given the environment. The challenge is the staff doesn't wash their hands before preparing a drink or serving food after touching germy towels to wipe down the bar, workstation, utensils, their hair or clothing. Additionally the drink well is highly corroded and should be repaired or replaced. Based on that alone, I can only imagine the ice machine being full of mold and dirty water filters. I travel through this airport at least twice biweekly when traveling for business. This used to be my favorite spot. As of last week, I gave up on things changing. The employees have to see this mess and realize this is unhealthy for the patrons or anyone. I guess they don't believe in the "if you see something, say something" mentality. Or worst, management doesn't care. In either case it's a good time for health inspectors to surprise them with a good old visit! Food in the airport isn't usually that great but I was pleasantly surprised to find Harry Caray's right outside of my gate. Since my flight was delayed for an hour, I had time to sit and enjoy dinner. I ordered the Holy Cow burger which was delicious. The fries were great as well, hot and crispy. The server was friendly and attentive. Sitting at the bar, I saw a lot of other dishes come out from the kitchen and they each looked delicious. Definitely recommend if you're in Midway. read more

I tried Harry Caray's while on a layover in the Midway airport. I chose this place based on reviews of the various options in the airport and this one had the best reviews. It was good as far as airport restaurants go. I ordered the Fish & Chips. I replaced the French fries and ordered sweet potato fries instead. The fish was your basic cod with a few packets of tartar. The sweet potato fries were a little mushy for my liking. I prefer fries a little more crispy. They don't have a special dipping sauce for the sweet potato fries, so the waitress gave me honey mustard which worked. The server was very attentive and the restaurant was in the middle of concourse A with very active surrounding, great for people watching. read more

I have stopped at Harry Caray's a number of times whenever I am flying out of Midway. This time I decided to try the Navy Pear and it was delish. For an airport bar, it's one of my faves. The staff are always nice, it's a great spot to people watch and have a drink before a flight, and there's charging ports the whole length so you can be fully charged when you get on the plane. I got the Holy Cow burger, and following your advice, asked for no lettuce and ordered chips instead of fries. Y'all are the real MVPs. That was the best airport burger I've ever had! The patty was thick, the sauce was so good I asked for extra, and the bartender's recommendation to add avocado was worth the $2! The chips were a better deal as well than just getting a handful of fries. After I ate, I got a second beer: Son of a Juice. That's a hazy IPA, and it was a nice way to wash down this meal that was way better than I've expected for $20 at an airport. The service was great. Beer was excellent. Bartender was spot on with the description and it was perfect. It's the Chicago local beer, Moody Tongue, Hazy. Not too hoppy, just right. They also had a great Gouda grilled cheese...had other cheeses with it, arugula, and tomato. Good fries. My husband got a beer as well, it was the Moody Tongue IPA. He enjoyed it also. I had a super quick and easy experience here on a layover from stl to cincy. I had around an hour and a half to eat and this was the perfect fit. I sat at the bar and was promptly waited on by the bartender. I ordered a Diet Coke and took a peek at the menu, which had a lot of different options. I ended up getting the chicken chopped salad which was mixed greens, avocado, green onions, I opted out of the tomatoes, pancetta, Gorgonzola, and I switched my dressing from the sweet herb vinaigrette to a balsamic type. This salad was wild fresh. The avocado was probably one of the best I've ever had, the dressing was super light and flavorful, and the pancetta really added a nice touch. I enjoyed my meal and got some work done. I wasn't rushed and it was a nice comfortable spot to get some things done. On a long layover at Midway Airport I had the opportunity to enjoy a relaxing meal at Harry Caray's Shortstop in terminal A. The seating is predominantly bar, however their is table chair seating. You do not have to be a Cubs or Harry Caray fan to have a good time. However, I'm both being raised in Indiana. TV's are within viewing to take in a ball game or other sporting event. Lots of references to the man such as the mega portrait of Harry and also sports memorabilia. My server was slow, but friendly and got the job done, the place was hopping with a full bar and two staff. Dining area had their own server. They had two expediting food out of the kitchen. I ordered a Holly Cow burger and fries and had to get the Moody Tongue Here's to Harry Ambler Ale. The food hit within 15 minutes by kitchen staff. The look was great, the taste even better, quality beef and at least a quarter if not a half pound. Fries were fine, nothing special. The beer was much better than anticipated with great flavor. Follow up occurred but almost at the end of my meal. The service was a bit off, but they were hustling! The food and atmosphere was a home-run! After visiting the celebrity-photo lined lobby walls of an actual Harry Carey's Steakhouse in the city, this narrow, open "restaurant" seemed completely avoidable. Between two busy boulevards of foot traffic, it felt like someone in a median selling oranges to cars waiting for a green arrow. And there was a small line to get seating in a small, congested patio on one end with a bunch of sharks circling the bar seats. Yet, we were extremely early and incredibly hungry. The line went quickly, actually, and the person managing the line was very friendly and busy, as she was also taking orders from airport employees. The service was great. And the food was kinda incredible. The buffalo chicken quesadilla was so cheesy and chewy you had to take small bites or give up and swallow it. The chicken was fresh and flavorful.
