I've been to this salon about a handful of times for root touch up and blow out a few times and it was OK. The colorists are great and quick! Never disappointed. The haircut, which I have to say, was a nice surprise. I've had the same stylist cut my hair for the last ten years, I really don't let anyone else touch my hair because of the bad experiences I've had. Lately I haven't had time to get to him in Queens. So the ladies asked if I wanted a trim (I'm guessing because my hair was screaming for one) I said if someone has time sure. Marissa fit me in and asked me what I wanted. I told her to have fun with it but to preserve the length. She nailed it! And I love knowing she's a few blocks away from me. I plan to book my next dye with Christina and haircut with Marissa. I'm new to the area and came in off a recommendation from a friend for cut and color. I'll start by saying my cut from Jennifer was great!! The color was another story. I'm not going to put anyone on blast but what I asked for and what was spoken about, compared to the end result were very different. The person even recognized it without me saying anything and offered a glaze to fix it.. which ended up adding on a new mix of issues. Thankfully, the next day Lauren the manager heard me out and then Jamie and later Kristina B worked wonders to get my color looking presentable again. Shout out to them for the many processes and for saving my hair. The general care and caliber of services the second day was much better all around. But I'm a new mom and finding time and a sitter to even get my hair done at all is a big deal. So to have to come two days in a row spending 4+ hours each time was such a struggle and disappointment. read more

Recently moving to the area and was looking for a salon nearby for my crazy hair. Searched Groupon and found this wonderful place. After being seated for my 1pm appt o waited for about 22 mins ( only because my dear Margherita wasn't informed) but it was made up for. Hannah and Margherita (hope I'm spelling their names right) were super sweet to my babies. Everyone at the salon engaged with my 2& 3 year olds. Hannah spoiled them with lollipops and that kept them at bay because if you know toddlers they don't sit still for nothing. Margherita did a great job and just the kindness from everyone and even though it was a Groupon I wasn't treated less than. They don't do tips on credit card though so walk with cash. I came to the salon for a hair color appt two days prior to hip surgery. I didn't want grey roots while I was recuperating. I didn't get a blow out as I was just going home and not going anywhere till my surgery. I asked Doreen, my colorist, where I could sit and dry my hair before leaving. She then told me that I couldn't blow dry my own hair as it's an insurance liability because I am not licensed! I never heard of that ridiculousness. I have been to many salons from Manhattan to Miami and often see women drying their own hair after getting color. In fact, Cactus Salon has a whole hair drying station with brushes and product if you need it. Let me further say, it was pouring rain and I said "Do I have to go out in the rain with soaking wet hair just prior to surgery?" No one seemed to care. Needless to say, I won't be returning. A very poor way to treat a client. read more

This salon and its employees are OUTSTANDING! The inside of the salon is updated and chic. My favorite is the glitter walls and chandelier in the wash room. The hair stylists and hair washers all have a great relationships and create an awesome vibe in the salon. I've been going to my hair stylists for many many years and I have zero complaints. I go here because my beautician is always on spot with my color and cuts but I must say; it's not a relaxing place. Employees converse way too loud and too much . I see customers waiting in their chairs while employees converse amongst each other . Maybe it's the age of employees , but it's not relaxing . Customers don't even silence their phones . They stay on speaker phone and have no consideration for others. I just want to go in and get my hair done and leave. I do not recommend this salon if you're looking for relaxation . read more

Not a fan of them charging an admin fee of 3% if using credit card for buying hair product. I understand the 3% fee if you're using a credit card for a service, like in a restaurant. But for buying product? This will be the last time I buy product from them using my CC. I will use the ATM machine prior because in today's world, every dollar counts for the American people. Other than that I love my hairdresser and the care she gives my hair. I also think they are very expensive. 70$ for a haircut is a bit high. But I love the work of my hairdresser, so I just deal with it. But it does hurt the wallet. read more

Harry Charles absolutely hit the ball out of the park! Not only are they fully equipped for the "New Normal" but they made sure I was comfortable and felt that my safety was their first priority. Every single staff member was so friendly and welcoming I had forgotten how long I was there for ( I had a double process with pink shadow root & a trim w/ blow out) - but honestly it was one of the best times I've ever spent in the salon. My stylist Kristina Tum Suden was absolutely amazing, I showed her a picture and she came up with something EVEN BETTER THAN I EXPECTED! I was turning heads all day when I left the salon and got compliments everywhere! Gabby did a partial highlight on October 16th and on October 20th 4 days later this is what my hair looked like (see pics where I'm wearing a black shirt) I messaged her on instagram and told her what was going on and she glazed it again. My hair continued to turn brassy and warm so she told me to book a full highlight and that she promised to fix it. I was there on Saturday from 9:15 in the morning until 4:30 pm because Gabby couldn't get my color correct. The first toner she used was too dark. She put a second toner in that turned my hair yellow and brassy and warm. She put a third toner in and at this point I needed to leave after being there all day and left completely unhappy with my color. Gabby stated there was nothing else she could do except wait a week and see if another toner would be better. Didn't offer for me to speak to a manager or even ask someone for help in correcting my color. I called on Sunday morning and spoke to Quinn and requested that another person who is better and more experienced with color fix my hair and she advised me that there would be a charge for that since it's not the same stylist as the original. For obvious reasons I don't want Gabby touching my hair ever again so I said forget it. $175.00 is a lot of money to spend on really terrible coloring. Thats on top of the $140.00 I spent on a horrible partial highlight back in October and I honestly wish I would have learned my lesson then. Instead I trusted Gabby and that was a huge mistake in my judgement. I requested a refund from the manager Melissa who said she needed to speak with the owner and they refused to issue a refund. I spent $300 instead at Hairstories in Babylon and the actual owner of that salon Chase, color corrected the mess that Gabby left of my hair. I will NEVER step foot in this salon again and am writing this review as a warning to anyone who is thinking about using them for color. Do not recommend at all. $315 wasted when I could have just gone to Hairstories. Lesson learned! It also says a lot that they offer a Groupon for this salon, where they book you with "select" inexperienced stylists/colorists. YOU GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR. read more

It was very exspensive and the results were god awful. With such high prices its unheard of to not know (or care) how to do a decent job. Ruined the condition of my hair. At 200 plus tip to the stylist who was so mean. Literally burned my head 3xs while drying. Dropped bleach on my phone. Pulled my hair; all! with attitude. I can see if u are apologetic. Still tipped nice but Biggest tip i have for said stylist is retire. You obviously are over it. I wish i never went here. The condition of my hair. Its like straw now, fried. Plus i absolutely hate it. Placement was horrible. I've seen lemon tree do a better job; by a mile. Not worth it. Regret is all i have. Avoid kristen if you feel like taking a chance here. read more

My daughter found the salon by chance , upon moving to COMMACK in 2011 " Veronica" was the stylist she was fortunate to get, she told me how much she liked Veronica so I made an appointment . I've been going to Veronica at Harry Charles ever since every 3 weeks without fail!! Veronica is an excellent colorist as well as stylist !! I get compliments every day ! She is the sweetest , most consistent professional stylist ! I love her ! She just gets it !!!!! The salon has a very WARM, FRIENDLY ,UPBEAT vibe which I attribute to the owner ,Harry . He is hands on ( no pun intended) leads by example and fosters a team environment , which from my past experience ,is very rare in this business . From the minute you enter the shop , you are greeted by beautiful , professional friendly receptionists, then you are introduced to one of the many bubbly adorable assistants who set you up and shampoo you later . They can't do enough for you ! I feel so at home whenever I go ..... greeted by a team of talented , harmonious artists all exhibiting a genuine love for their jobs and co workers and clients! The icing on the cake is , they have a boutique run by " Joanne" whom I love , she has an amazing personality, great taste and merchandises her shoppe in such an inviting way ! So first off crystal is amazing hair stylist but the front end of this salon as drove me to my end and i wont put myself threw this anymore. I called 4 times on Sunday i got put on hold multiple times then hung up super rude saying when i got threw she couldn't make an appointment to call back Tuesday. BEWARE of this Salon!!! STAY AWAY!! Totally not professional and unethical owner HARRY K. One of the colorist over processed my hair 2x. She burnt my scalp which resulted in 50 wounds all over my head. Constant burning ,bleeding and itching !!I have been treated by a dermatologist and it is not healing. The owner Harry K does not return my calls and is aware of the situation. I had to go to the city to have the scabs biopsied. Which may have turned cancerous. Since he runs his business so unprofessionally this place will be reported to people in authority and the court as well as media so nobody else has to go this nightmare. Don't be deceived by the new decor. May look upscale but he runs it in an unethical manner. Just feel bad for the few hairstylists who are good. Everyone in this salon is always so sweet! Maxine has been cutting my hair for over 10 years and I will trust NOONE else!! She knows exactly what I like and what I want even when I'm unsure. I have thick South Asian hair and she knows how to cut/style/blow out which is sometimes hard to find in stylists. I always leave her chair so happy with how my hair looks!
