Very skilled and up to date with all the latest colors and styles. She spends the time to make sure I am getting exactly what I want and does an amazing job every time! The women at the front are always accommodating and friendly. All of the stylists and assistants couldn't be any sweeter, the customer service is impeccable! Harry Charles Salón is wonderful! I have been coming here for over a decade ( even when it had a different name). The owner, Harry, treats his customers as family. There is a warm and friendly atmosphere and the stylists are incredibly gifted. I have had Ellie and Crystal and Marissa and Manny and Margarita and Kristin and Leslie do my hair for years. The stylists are constantly taking classes on the newest products and processes. The services are reasonably priced which is hard to find. Many of the stylists will come in early or stay late to suit your needs. Ellie is so devoted that she has a standing appointment for me every week for a blow out and she is amazing! I have never met more caring and down to earth people. I refer everyone in my family to this salon. They also do facials, massage and nails and hair for weddings as well as make up. The customer is always right at this salon and they go above and beyond to keep customers happy. I never write reviews but this salon deserves praise. read more

Today was my first appointment at the Salon and I was absolutely blown away. The staff did an amazing job following COVID regulations- the space was immaculate and beautiful. Jamie was the stylist who did my hair and I will definitely be a regular with her going forward. My hair has never looked so beautiful in my life. She made a custom glaze for me and curled my hair for my engagement photo shoot today. She perfected my vision. My hair was absolutely stunning and the most perfect shade of brunette. I came to this salon about a week ago and had the worst experience of my life. It first started with a nasty attitude from the front desk receptionist who mixed up the appointments and then screamed at me. I was already 20 minutes late into my appointment. I was finally greeted by this guy manny and thought he would Atleast make me feel better. When I left the salon my hair was so un even and choppy I had to go back to a different salon spend more money and fix it. I've been to this salon a few times and it's always a great experience! A little pricy, but very high quality. They cleaned the sink and chair before I sat down and all staff are very professional. Yesterday was my first post COVID experience at the salon. Things went very smoothly and the salon was very organized. Hands had to be sanitized, temperatures taken, masks/face shields worn, seats spread apart, individual partitions set up, and every station was wiped down after every use (including the hair brushes!). You call ahead when you arrive for your appointment and are invited inside when they were ready for you (I personally had no wait). I was pleasantly surprised that it was still a relaxing experience and it felt great to get my hair done. I was also very comfortable with all of the safety precautions taken. Have been getting my haircut with Cheri at Harry Charles Salon for over a decade and it has always been a great experience. Cheri is the best and always does a great job with my hair even when I've come in at the last minute way overdue for a cut. In fact, I don't think I've ever made an appointment more than a few days in advance and the front desk staff always scrambles to find me an appointment and Cheri always makes room in her schedule for me. If you want to spend 5 hours somewhere and have your hair turn from ok blonde to orange brass and then washed out ghost blonde, come to Cactus Jericho Tpke Commack. Also, don't forget to bring lots of pictures /ideas that they will not look at. Also, be prepared to not be consulted about the style you want and be prepared to be blamed for having 'that kind of hair' when the colorist screws up. Be prepared to have your hair burnt by super hot blow dryers. Be prepared to have every excuse under the book thrown at you. Also, be sure that you don;t mind being shafted to the bottom of the list when you hair is clearly wrong (because they have other clients and we are really busy). By far, the worst experience I have ever had. Also be sure you have a good memory too as you may have at least 6 people touching your hair, none of whom will look at your preferred outcome pictures. Since when did my requested blunt cut become a commack housewife old Friends episode style. Yes, I walked out with half a haircut. I just couldn't bear it any longer. Tips for Commack: 1. Customer is KING 2. Consult with your customer on their requested look. 3. Advise the customer what you are doing when she asks. Note. When I asked what color the low lights were they were putting in to fix the hair, and how many, it was a NO NO question to ask the "head colorist" brought in to repair the damage. 4. Have your customer meet a max of 2-3 people during the course of their experience. read more

Do not go here for eyelashes. Laurie is not a eyelash girl at all. I had clumps of glue and called to tell them that my lashes are horrible. They tell me to come in and then she runs late, then she will take them off, not give me a refund. WtF I juts spent money getting lashes put on then paid you to fill them and no refund to get them fixed elsewhere? Be very aware of this place if you want to keep your own lashes. I got a gift card for this place for my birthday to get a massage, facial, and manicure. Christine (or Christy?), who did my massage, was wonderful, and gave me some great advice about stretching so that I don't get so much tension in my back. The woman who did my manicure (I don't remember her name), was nice and I like the way my nails came out. But the aesthetician who did my facial, Ruth, actually stopped during the facial to answer her phone, and left the room to talk on the phone for 10 minutes! She was right outside the door, so I know it wasn't an emergency call (just catching up with family, talking about how her Christmas was, etc). I should have told her off then and there but I didn't want to make a scene. Everything else was great, but I would never want to make an appointment with Ruth again, the way she acted was VERY unprofessional. read more

I really hate to post a negative review, but, here I go. My first experience with Ellie was horrible, she has poor coloring technique. My second experience said that I should have learned from my first experience. The color was very far from what I asked for and I was there to fix the color she messed up the day before. I have had a few bad experiences, but, this was by far the worst and they made me pay for the color correction which was horrible. If you go there don't go to her! To say the least this was the worst experience I've ever had in a hair salon. Went in to get color done was charged $400 and got nothing near even close to the color asked for leaving unhappy going back had a toner put on that did absolutely nothing and then was charged for the blowdry $25.Spoke to the owner Who said to come in for corrective color and was told the color could not be achieved as the hair was too damaged at this point. I was then given a terrible hair cut on top of it all. Was told to do conditioning treatments on my hair before anything else could be done over $400 later no call to see how my hair was or if I would like to come back so it could be corrected. We have not been back since and will not be back. If you are looking to leave happy with your hair avoid this place at all costs. I left this place crying too many times. And this wasn't the first time I didn't get the color I wanted here. Lesson learned! read more

Horrible place. made and appointment for a perm. i told the receptionist i had very long hair, as i have had perms before and it costs more for longer hair. When i got there Jenny, the hairdresser, sat me in the chair and scolded me for not telling them i had very long hair when i made the appointment. I told her i had. She was annoyed and it showed thru the entire treatment. she cut my hair dry and horribly, then put the rollers in and what not. when i was done she took the rollers out and the top and front portion didnt curl, which she blamed me when i pointed it out. i was not happy and just wanted to leave. they handed me a bill for 200.00 (and I tipped nasty Jenny also). never to see me again. lol amateurs read more

We used Harry Charles Salon for hair and makeup for my wedding. I had 8 bridesmaids, my mother, and myself getting hair and makeup done. They did a fantastic job! They even came in early to accommodate our needs and to make sure that we were finished by the time the photographer arrived. All of the girls were very happy with their makeup and hair. Everything stayed perfect all day and night. Manny especially did an amazing job with my hair. I highly recommend going to him. The whole salon is professional and amazing! read more

Went here with a groupon. Just moved to the area and I was looking to find a new salon. I have to maintain my roots at least once every 4-5 weeks (damn greys!) and this was right down the block from my apartment, so I figured I would give this place a try. Very easy to make an appointment, receptionist was really nice. When I arrived, I waited a few minutes for my stylist. I can't remember her name right now - I don't know. Either way, I just wanted to match the color of my roots to the rest of my hair and get a nice blowout and relax. The stylist proceeded to tell me all the things she would do different with my color and I just politely said "right now, I just want to have my roots done". After getting a deep conditioning, I went to have my hair blown out by the same stylist. I told her my hair tends to get very knotty and also said that I don't like a lot of product in my hair. She proceeded to brush my hair (with a round brush, not a comb even) and as she was literally pulling on my hair, she said "see, this is because you need a hair cut. I can barely brush this" I told her, again, my hair gets knotty easily and it just needed to get combed out. The blowout was TERRIBLE! She didn't even fully dry my hair. I made a comment about how fast she was and now I know why. Because she either wasn't paying attention or was just in a rush. Either way, I was really disappointed with my hair. One thing that was nice was they give you a little gift bag after your first visit - a couple of travel shampoo and conditioners and some coupons. But I don't think I will be returning to the salon. I am usually very happy with my service, however recently the receptionist have been telling me that my hairdresser Katelyn (basically the only person who I allow to touch my hair) was booked for the few days I was asking to come in. So naturally, I contact Katelyn myself to see if she could fit me in regardless or maybe come in early (she's phenomenal when it comes to accommodating my schedule) and she told me she had multiple opens so we were able to fix it ourselves. I have no idea why they would be doing that but I am upset that they would do something as ridiculous as take away someone's business. Other than the receptionist issue, everyone is so sweet and always make sure you are comfortable and have what you need. If you are ever looking for an incredible hairdresser, I highly recommend Katelyn, she has transformed my hair and helped me keep it in the best condition I have possibly ever seen it in. read more

I came here asking for a red violet hair color. My hair has previously been boxed dyed dark brown but not in 2-3 years. I made an appointment with Kate who said she could not dye my hair that color because it's too damaged and she would have to lighten me for that color but she would want to do it in a few months to make my hair healthy again. Let me explain I have curly frizzy hair my hair has always been that way since I was a little girl. Kate even asked me if I had a health condition because she couldn't believe how incredibly dry my hair was who would ask someone something like that and NO I don't have a health condition. My hair is not dead I have a full head of thick hair yet she didn't want to do it. Personally I think she has no experience with curly hair. I agreed to do a red violet glaze deep condition, & blow out. The deep condition didn't do anything for me, after the blow out my hair wasn't straight it was frizzy something I could achieve on my own..And the glaze washed out of my hair in two days. Even though I washed with cold water 2-3 times a week. You come to a salon with intentions on someone doing what you want but you spend money and get nothing that you asked for. The salon is nice and a lot of the stylist really did know what they are doing. If you have curly hair do not go to Kate. read more
