Been wanted to try this great sandwich shop after seeing one video about it and realizing I had walked by it and missed it so many times. Harry's is tucked into the Monadnock building (which is super cool architecturally by the way) and it's just a cute lil local lunch counter with your classic sub sandwiches! I was surprised they had smoothies too. I got the torpedo regular size and it came out to about ($12). It was a good filling lunch!! I like they have smaller options too. The service was great and you can tell this is a staple restaurant that has been around a while. Really good and will definitely be back! read more

Walked into this little shop on a rainy day. I ordered the Torpedo which had ham, salami and bologna, with everything on it and French bread. The sandwich was good! Nothing crazy. I think it was on the pricier side for what you get. The size them different by super/regular/junior. read more

I am somewhat skeptical when it comes to sandwich shops, but I'd say Harry's knocked it out of the park! Today there was a "short staffed" sign on the door, but they totally could've fooled me. I got my sandwich quick regardless of the 5 people in front of me. They put an oil/vinegar on the sandwich that adds a nice kick to it, especially if you get onions. If you get a sandwich, I recommend getting it toasted. While you wait, you can check out the pictures inside and/or look at the large menu and smoothie options. It's a cozy little shop with a lot of character, and I will definitely include this in my lunch options going forward! read more

This sandwich lunch spot is a gem! The couple who run it are very friendly and helpful. The sandwiches are very delicious and the prices are lower than most sandwich shops in the loop. Try them out and be amazed. The junior size was sufficient to satisfy your appetite unless you're very hungry, then you can get the medium and large versions. I'm si glad I found this place after being unhappy with chains downtown. read more

Walked in on my lunch break. I'm the only customer. Ordered corned beef on rye with cheese, onions, mustard. To go. What's more basic than that? Guy at counter writes it down. Hands order sheet to sandwich maker two steps away. A few minutes later, counter guy hands me a bag. Get back to work. Sandwich is corned beef, mayo on rye. My break is short. I can't go back to exchange sandwich. Conclusion: Harry's fails at the most basic things. FAIL read more

So that's what a real egg tastes like! It's amazing the difference between what I got and the flash frozen microwave breakfast sandwiches from the typical Dunkin' and Starbucks. It was hot proper like you'd make at home and the people were super nice and friendly. Love to see true small business doing it right. Will be back. read more

I'm not sure why the reviews on this sandwich shop are so low. I had the Italian beef today and it was amazing. It was the perfect combination of spicy (just a little) and savory. I loved all the ingredients they put on it. Amazing service workers and clean restaurant. I will be going back again during my lunch break. Absolutely recommend! read more

I just had a very good warm 8 inch roast beef sandwich with all the trimmings (onions, pickles, green peppers, lettuce, mayo, tomato) from this little mom and pop joint. I loved every bite of it! I have also stopped in for a breakfast sandwich (ham and eggs) and it was pretty good. The people working here seem to know most of their customers and are genuinely very nice. They also serve salads and other good stuff as well. They do not stay open very long and seem to be open during downtown work hours (6:30am-4pm) so its good to stop for breakfast or lunch mon-fri and early on Sat. read more

Best sandwich in the Loop! Harry makes all the sandwiches himself with care. I absolutely love this joint. It's one of the few mom & pop shops left in the Loop. Harry's just proved another reason why the Monadnock building is truly my favorite building in Chicago. I always always chose to cut through this building while in the loop for its old school feel and timeless charm, yet I never considered eating at Harry's for some reason. Before heading to a meeting, with limited time to spare, I popped in and tried a sandwich. My god my only regret is not trying this place sooner. Fresh ingredients and plenty to choose from. I went basic-turkey and ham on wheat. It was probably the most easy, yet satisfying sandwich. I don't know if it was the vibes, smells, or rainy day feel but damn this sammy was bomb. "Everything" includes cheese, mayo, onion, green pepper, tomato, and oregano. A perfect merriment for your taste buds! Yo: Keep mom and pops in biz....next time you are in the loop...go here!!!! I can't wait to come back and try the tuna...or the pastrami...or the corned beef...ahhh too many to chose:) read more

Weird owners and subpar food. There's like one lady taking orders and one cook working. They are so rude and charged me a different price then what was on the menu. Gave me a weird look when I asked for a cup of water. Seems like a dying business who can't keep up because of inflation and weird location. read more

Had the hot pastrami sandwich. It tasted pretty good but usually when you go to one of these old-timey delis they give you a lot more pastrami. This one had a lot of tomato and green peppers and about half the meat I was anticipating. Prices were reasonable. read more

Yum! I walked past this place forever not really knowing it really existed. It looks like just another window you pass by while walking through the loop. Today I noticed it was a restaurant, looked in, and decided a sandwich sounded great! The (owner?) lady in the front said they had been there for 27 years...obviously they know what they are doing! I had their Ruben...best Ruben i have EVER had. The boy had a BBQ beef sandwich, which he said was very impressive also. Fast service and all around yumminess! Minus 1 star for not having fountain drinks...but i guess having a can of pop isn't all that bad! I think i might have found a new fave lunch spot read more

It doesn't matter when I was here last - the very nice lady at the counter always remembers my order. I came in here in the summer of 2005 - hadn't been in town in 4 years - and she said, "Hello! Reuben and Dr. Pepper?" Wow. Any restaurant that has the same staff for nearly 20 years has to be doing something right. They have really good toasted subs, and I love their Chicken Gumbo. Really? Really? I literally just finished a to-go corned beef. Terrible. Tasteless. Hi Harry, Congratulations, you made a sandwich that qualifies as food. Ingredients were not fresh, the 'hot' sandwich left me cheese un-melted and my beef tepid. If you are reading this, my guess is you got off the Jackson Blue and passed a window with nice gold writing, and you thought "hmm, I'd like to try that independent NY style deli". Unfortunately, the comparison stops with the lettering. Luckily, you are an intelligent yelper and came here to read my review! Don't waste your time (or $'s!). If you like Carl Budding lunch meat, and like paying $8 to eat it. You'll love this place. Complete waste of money. The service was slow, the sandwiches were small, and the meat was less than great. There's thousands of lunch options downtown Chicago, and this should NOT be one of them. read more

What I found was an awesome of fresh handmade sandwiches for a very reasonable price. I ordered an 8" pastrami w/mozzarella cheese, shredded lettuce, tomato, red onions, mayo, & Italian oil drizzled. What I got was an awesome inexpensive sandwich loaded with/fresh ingredients. Absolutely delicious. After I got my sandwich the owner (I introduced myself (I think his name was Mike) rang up the sandwich. He said they have been there for 35 years. There's also a small dining area in the front of the store where I sat & devoured my sandwich. Like I said this is small Italian store w/a nice selection of products like meats, cheeses, pastas, wine, olive & deli items. I throughly enjoyed finding Conte Di Savoia. The pastrami sandwich was awesome w/a generous portion of pastrami & toppings for a reasonable price. I'm the type of person who who loves finding new places to eat. Most times unless I find great food & reasonable prices I won't go back but I feel like I found a real gem W/Conti Di Savoia. I WILL DEFINITELY BE BACK AGAIN.

The cheese and garlic flavors were very strong, but the bread itself was slightly coarse. Hojicha Latte: The whole milk was very milky, but the hojicha flavor felt a little weak. However, it's already great to find a tea latte that's not very sweet.

I've stopped by when I'm in the area and my sandwiches of choice are as great as they were 5 years ago, but I think your food experience does depend on what you get. My favorites are their torpedo (an italian sub), their ham & turkey sub, and their combo (corned beef plus roast beef). They use Turano bread for their cold subs which is a local bakery, so I'm also glad that I get to support another Chicago small business by going here. The bread they use for their toasted subs are the same exact kind you get at Potbelly's (I asked them once...) I prefer their cold subs as a couple times the hot subs I've gotten have sometimes been not as warm in the middle. Their vegetables have always been fresh, and I like how their soups aren't standard defrosted soups like some other places. In general, their sandwiches always hit the spot and they have some of my favorite sandwiches in Chicago. Not sure why others have had such a bad experience - been eating here for years and it always tastes great to me! Oh - and I know they do deliveries for larger orders in the area. A friend of mine has had them for lunch meetings a couple time. read more

Really disappointing! The prices are expensive and the sandwiches are not fantastic. I had a corned beef sandwich and the meat was average AT BEST. Can't say there's anything really good about this place. Their prices to NOT match the quality. However, I assume it's a husband and wife team going on there- the wife? Very nice. The husband? The salad was pretty good, though. I saved it for dinner, and the lettuce held up. I tossed the avocado because I don't eat avocados, but everything else was fresh and delicious. I had the balsamic vinaigrette dressing, which tasted like any vinaigrette dressing you'd find at the grocery store. The soup and salad was about fourteen dollars, which is typical for a non-fast food lunch in the loop these days. I was pleased with my lunch, so I'd give Boar's Head another chance.
