I went here on lunch. Indidnt have many options because I didn't want to go far. I ordered the classic grill cheese with seasoned fries. The fries tasted dry and old. The grill cheese wasn't something I would come back for. The service was pleasant and [[HIGHLIGHT]]the sitting area was clean and welcoming.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

    On The Lighter Side

we were excited to try this place and decided to split the "On the Lighter Side" which was listed to include a small grilled cheese, side of soup, and some chips. the order was missing chips and we were underwhelmed by the food we did get. it was $14 with the dollar tip i added, which is steep but understandable for a small business downtown. i wouldnt mind the price so much, but i was a little peeved after we didn't get one of the promised items. the sandwich was ok, the cheese wasn't super flavorful but it had a good stretch and the bread was nice and crispy. the soup just tasted like chicken stock and had a very strange, thick granular texture. i probably won't be back

River Valley-Grilled Cheese with Prairie Pure Swiss Cheese, Smoked Onion Marmalade & River Valley Mushrooms with Seasoned Fries. DIVINE!!

I recently started taking the underground Pedway from the Metra train station and saw this place. I said one day I'm going to try them so on 2/26/24 I paid them a visit. There is an extensive menu with a variety of different grilled cheese to choose from. I decided to get the River Valley - Prairie Pure swiss cheese, smoked onion marmalade and River Valley mushrooms. That had to be the best grilled cheese I've ever had in my life! Definitely a gourmet sandwich with the best and freshest ingredients. I also ordered the seasoned fries which for some reason isn't listed on the menu on the website. They were good as well. I dined in and it was nice and quiet inside the establishment. I'm really looking forward to coming back and deciding which is going to be my next try. Big ups for the website menu having a description and color picture of each food offering. Staff is very friendly and helpful. The place is clean. Grilled Cheeses bring me especially back to my childhood with a nostalgic smile. Wonderful experience! See you soon! A++!

Inside the Classic Mac... Loads of Mac and Cheese.

The Best Grilled Cheese as voted by The New York Post, 20 years in a row. I can see why. I happened upon this location located on the B1 level of the Pedway and mall in search of a quick but satisfying lunch spot. I was really surprised by the variety of choices on the menu. Think classic grilled cheese using butterkase cheese on fresh sourdough. (That was grilled to perfection). We also opted for the Classic Mac - it's their classic grilled cheese with a heaping portion of homemade Mac and Cheese. This is why you eat here ... most items were homemade, nothing out of a can as the employees told us. Which brings me to rave about their Loop Soup. It was a generous bowl of their tomato pesto soup paired with cut up pieces of the classic grilled cheese. Excellent separately but a match made in heaven when eaten together. My kids even took their sandwiches to dip into my soup. The soup was semi thick and robust in flavor. Yet not feeling too heavy after consuming. Pesto really makes it "wow". The other sandwich which deserves a mention, the Jake! It's Gouda, ham and apple butter. Man, I wish I thought of this. The apple butter's sweetness pairs so well with the ham. And Gouda makes everything good. Yum. So much food in Chicago but this is totally worth a try. Homemade and fresh are the key words here.

Inside Block 37 where there is a residence, bouldering, AMC theater, food places like this Grilled cheese place and stores for clothing and a lot more. I love grilled cheese so I tried the $11 combo "on the lighter side" of tomato pesto soup, a small grilled cheese, and potato chips. It had 1 slice of cheese (butterkase) and it was good. I just wanted more greens and cheese Inside. I know it's a small grilled cheese version for the combo but it felt like it was not really a grilled cheese... more like what you can make at home. We also tried the Murphy $15 which is sold just for St Pattys day time and it was good with the 2 slices of Swiss cheese and corned beef which was not fatty but good meat and not salty... I also wished the cheese was more melted and came out hot and 1 more slice of cheese for that oozing taste. Good food but just not enough food for the price and the WiFi down here barely works.

The staff were really welcoming, for an early morning. I got the hot chocolate. Honestly that's exactly what I needed that morning. It had that real Mexican chocolate taste. Thick, creamy, smooth and rich. The cinnamon came through warm but not too strong, plus a little extra on top that hit your nose before the first sip. Sweet and it almost had this slight earthy note too... hard to explain but good. It even had that little design on top, like the ones they do on cappuccinos. Didn't expect that but it was cool. I finished it slow. Didn't wanna rush it. Just sat there taking small sips and enjoying it while it was still hot.

They also have a patio, and with the weather being nice, it was easy to just sit outside and relax for a while. I was honestly too hungry to spend much time deciding, so I just ordered one of the sourdough donut ball. It was exactly what I was hoping for. The outside had a light coating of sugar that gave it just the right amount of sweetness without being too much. Once I bit into it, the inside was soft, airy, and slightly chewy from the sourdough, which made it different from a regular donut. There was a subtle tang from the sourdough that balanced the sweetness really well, so it never felt overly sugary. It had a light crispness on the outside, then a warm, pillowy center that practically melted away with each bite. I finished it way faster than I expected. The only thing I forgot was ordering something to drink with it. Looking back, a good coffee would've made it even better. Still, I'd definitely stop by again the next time I'm in the area.

Set in an old warehouse that is now an art gallery event space and restaurant nestled in an older warehouse district in Bridgeport neighborhood of Chicago. Beautiful decor and laid out perfectly. The natural wood floors furniture ie tables chairs etc and iron work throughout sets the ambiance for old meets new. It works. The wide spacing between tables makes for a comfortable dining experience. So many folks come in to do their work and dine here. What a super addition to the neighborhood that less than a decade ago was essentially a street that was more a run down semi-truck alley. Great menu with neighborhood favorites leaning toward the old school Italian dishes. Sandwiches, soups, salads, and breakfasts just to name a few are all excellent. The pastries are insane and a must take home deal. I love the American Breakfast. Three eggs your way, thick diced America potatoes, thick cut bacon, and sourdough toast. Accompanied by what I believe to be home made jelly and for sure homemade gardiniera. Caruso's gardiniera actually. Diced into a relish unlike most standard gardiniera it's easier to eat with many dishes. Excellent flavor and just the right kick to it. FYI Dolce Arte also sells a to go line of homemade Caruso products from their gardiniera to past and past sauces and more. Yes, their coffee is really good too. Lavazza products I believe. The service is always on point. Casual but on point. Very friendly staff from diverse backgrounds. This is the place you bring people close to you, business lunches, meetings, formal ir informal, or like me, save it for myself as my own getaway spot. It's an artists dream and sets a positive time for any gathering.

I bravely went for the latin-inspired latte flights, consisting of Mexican mocha, Coquito, horchata, and cafe de Olla. My favorite out of these four was the coquito because of the coconut pieces, which blended well with the latte. I know it sounded silly, but I enjoyed chewing these coconut flakes and they were good palate cleansers! The presentation was da bomb as well. The only reason that I couldn't give five stars to "Stockyard" was limited seating. The place was super cute, but there were only 3 tables and less than 4 high chair seating against the windows, plus some outdoor seating on the pedestrian walkway. The laptop users were respectfully directed to sit at the windows and outlets were available. The baristas were friendly and knowledgeable. I asked the details of the latte flight and they explained the offerings. I thought there was only one type of latte flights, but I believe the one I selected was very much suited to my preferences. "Stockyard Coffeehouse" is accessible via routes CTA 44 (Racine/Wallace) and CTA 8 (Halsted) busses. It's great to have a reliable indie coffeeshop in the neighborhood like this, so keep up the good work!
