After an exhaustive multi state search for a dream car, of which only 16 currently reside in the USA, we finally get an exact hit at Langan VW of Vernon. Without hesitation I call and ask for a salesperson. Meanwhile, my partner was researching Google reviews and everyone was praising this woman by the name of Maria. I was thinking to myself, we probably should have researched a sales associate, before calling, but given the extremely limited quantity of our dream SUV, I wasn't wasting a second. The phone connects and we hear "Thank you for calling Langan VW of Vernon, this is Maria, how may I help you today?". We both burst out with joyous cheer and excitement. We tell Maria what led us to her and the vehicle we want. She assures us that yes in fact they have it, it's not sold. We agree to meet tomorrow. I find Maria greeting me in the parking lot with a giant welcoming smile. We shake hands and she thanks me for choosing Langan VW of Vernon and for making the 3.5 hour journey. We go to her office. Having purchased new vehicles before, this is where I start to get anxious, wondering if she is going to be like every other sales person I have dealt with? Numbers game, low-ball trade offer, no wiggle room? She did none of those things. She was completely personable and explained everything that I was filling out and what was involved in the process. Maria is so sweet. I feel like I'm hanging out with my Italian Grandmother, that is, if I had an Italian Grandmother. The process was seamless and very relaxed. I received a fair price on both my new car and trade in. This whole place is amazing. I haven't seen one unhappy customer or employee, whether it be in service, parts, and especially in sales. Ryan, the finance manager, made me feel so at ease. He explained everything & answered all my questions before having me sign anything. This was the most comfortable I have ever felt while signing legal documents. Maria showed me how to operate all the features of my new car, setup my phone, filled up the tank and even bought me a coffee. On top of all of this, gave me a homemade chicken parm. I'm elated that I'm now the proud owner of my dream car, with no compromises, but at the same time I feel a bit of sadness knowing that it's time to depart this wonderful place and say farewell to all these wonderful people who have changed my life. service department is abhorrent. Went in for an audio issue was then promptly told after "being diagnosed" that further diagnosis was impossible unless I purchase a new speaker (which conveniently can't be returned) but was also assured is the audio problem. Was also told that my rear brake caliper was seized and I needed a new one. Fast forward to now when I have bought a speaker and caliper myself (the price they asked was unreasonable) and not only is my brake caliper not seized but as I thought the audio issue I had was not related to the speaker (something I confirmed by actually diagnosing a problem and not just charging $200 for a computer to say something is wrong) at the end of the day this dealership isn't interested in helping people get their car fixed but rather just takes your money and spends it on parts you don't need and I imagine when that doesn't work they "find" the real problem and charge you again for repairs. Do not go here for anything more than and oil change, but maybe not even for that read more

This dealership is full of very nice & helpful people, and some shady business practices. Parts markup is almost double MSRP, even when you can drive down the road a few miles and get the same part for $70 less. Purchased a car, let them know that I was using my bank for the loan, and was told to "let us see what our rate is, and we will go with the better rate". Without my knowledge, the back office staff (bearded man, think his name was Jet) had submitted my new registration to the DMV with their bank's info on it. Their APR was much worse. Their cars are over MSRP, their parts are over MSRP, their financing is terrible and shady, and it took damn near 4 hours to buy the car. Avoid this VW dealer, go across the water to Gene Langan. Updating my review from 8 months ago. I purchased a 2017 certified VW Jetta with about 28,000 miles from them. Within a day of purchase, I went back to them because the car was shaking at highway speed. It would start around 60 MPH and would gradually get worse the faster I got. The whole floor of the car, along with the steering wheel would shake to the point of making the ride unsafe. So, after making 3 trips to them, and at one point leaving my car there for 3-days and having to rent a car for the 3-days, ONLY TO find the car parked in the same spot where I had left it parked, I was told that there was nothing wrong with the car. Apparently, they had rebalanced the tires and "fixed the alignment" all three times. And at some point, the service manager told me that I was driving too fast, that the car was too light, and I "possibly" needed to buy new tires and it MAY fix the problem. I was surprised to hear that this certified car that I had just bought less drivable than a beat-up Honda Civic I used to have as a freshman in college. Well, then I left for the west coast and left my car parked in a garage, the whole time avoiding freeways or driving in the right lane at 60 MPH. Now, I am back and I go to NJ, and find out that I have an oil leak, so I go to a local VW dealer to get it fixed. Firstly they find out that I had an oil leak from previous service (from Vernon VW), and when I told them to check on the vibrations, within an hour they had found the culprit. The passenger side wheel was bent. So they swap that out and I just drove back to CT, and for the FIRST TIME since buying this car I was able to drive on the highway without fearing for my life. The vibration, all gone. So, thanks for GASLIGHTING the hell out of me Vernon VW. There can only be two explanations, 1). The service people here are terribly incompetent, in that case, they should not be working at a VW dealership, or 2). They blatantly lied to me about the condition/state of the car and put my life in danger for a meager $200 job. In that case, shame on your Vernon VW. I recently purchased a vehicle from this dealership, and I would not recommend buying a vehicle from them, this is why. Just the facts as I know them. I took the day off from work to pick up my vehicle and they postponed my appointment to another day, which greatly inconvenienced me. I called 5 times in a 3 1/2-week period in an effort to get my vehicle deposit back. during one conversation I asked to speak to someone in charge and was told there was no one in charge there, so I asked to speak to the manager and again was told "we don't have one ". When I asked to speak with someone in accounting, I was told she doesn't have a phone or if I call her, she won't answer it. (huh) Each time I called they said it would be taken care of, but obviously it wasn't. During my last phone conversation, a man named "G" was put on the phone to what I believe was for the purpose of intimidation. This gentleman repeatedly lied to me. He told me he saw the check being written and mailed to me. I live in town so I waited 3 more days, No check ever should up! I then called my bank and put in a claim dispute. The deposit was put back in my account 3 days later. Horrible customer service. As a person it is bothersome to me that I was treated so poorly. They took in a trade without a proper title, then passed that car through an auction house that didn't catch the mistake, who passed it to another dealer who eventually sold it to me and now I'm stuck with a car with no title and they refuse to help in any way shape or form even though it's their obligation. I am now having to file complaints with the state of Connecticut and will eventually file a federal lawsuit to get this resolved. A brought my car in here for its first checkup and couldn't be happier with the service and experience. They send you a text when your vehicle goes in and actually take a video of your car and what they are doing to it. So cool! I could see the tires off and the tech provided commentary on what they were about to do. My car maintenance was classified as "low severity" so they told me my wait wouldn't be long. I went to Vernon VW, and Mason the Sales rep showed me a 2018 Tiguan, he shared that the asking price was $25,900+. We test drove it and I was happy with the vehicle. I asked let's talk numbers and I had an older Tiguan to trade in. He went to his Sales Mgr. and came back with some numbers. He said they would give me $1500 for my trade in. I was completely insulted as I know the car was worth $4200 - $4500 based on Car Fax, KBB and Edmunds. I told them they had to be kidding me, so than immediately increased the trade-in to $4000. How ironic, if I didn't have my facts they would have taken advantage of me. :-/ Then he presented the financing numbers which were highly exaggerated, so I left the dealership quite disappointed. I called my Credit Union and got approved for an Auto Loan. I went back the next day to look at the same Tiguan and Mason was very kind and helpful showing us the car once more. I had brought my Daughter and her Father as the car was to be an upgrade for my Daughter before she goes back to college. Mason had to go back to the same Sales Mgr to talk numbers again. I told them we would have the monies to them within 24 hours. The Sales Mgr comes out asking all sorts of questions of whom are we financing with. Which should not have mattered as they were going to get the $$$ for the car I wanted to purchase. He tells us that: The way they make Money" is through FIANACING, AGAIN HOW IRONIC I thought they were in the business of SELLING CARS? He went on to say if we do not finance through them the price of the car would INCREASE BY $4000!!! We never heard of such a thing. That the price provided was what they call a Dealer Discount, but that was never mentioned when I first asked: How much for this car? I guess I can understand a slight difference in price as I contacted my CU to explain what has occurred, they have only heard of dealers increasing it by $500, NOT THOUSANDS OF dollars! Awful way of conducting business or lack of. As I guess they are not in the business of selling cars, but Financing is their priority. If I could give less than a 1 star rating I would. What a terrible experience. I can't believe they actually invited me to do a review. I looked at a used Toyota Highlander at this dealership and we struck a deal. I had concerns about the tires, as they looked worn to me. The sales manager, Gio, I believe his name was, claimed to have the service Dept check it out and assure me only 2 were bad. I insisted on the remaining 2 be changed, but Gio refused. Against my instinct I bought the car anyways. We brought the vehicle to our local inspection station, and wouldn't you know it, it FAILED INSPECTION due to the remaining 2 tires literally had the steel belting coming out of them. I called Gio and left voicemails 3X before he called me back. He he was totally unprofessional basically calling me a liar and insisted on pictures of the bad tires. Okay Gio, pictures sent. I offered to have them changed locally which he flat out refused stating he only trusted his service guy lol. Refusing to drive the car I forced them to come to western Massachusetts and pick it up to replace the tires which they did. Gio wanted me to pay $125 for the alignment, I told him he was crazy and to just put the tires on and drive it back up to me. When we received the vehicle back I brought it to my local alignment shop and had it done the right way. I wouldn't buy a bicycle from this dealership, namely because of the sales manager. Absolutely terrible buying experience from start to finish. BUYER BEWARE! We were given every excuse in the book as to why they were "too busy" to assist us when we wanted to buy a brand new vehicle. Multiple messages via phone, email, Facebook were left and never returned. Salesman was not knowledgeable on the different trims and features available for the model we wanted and we felt tricked into buying a trim we had not wanted. The day we were scheduled to pick up our vehicle we were asked to come in at 5pm, then switched to 4 and then waited for an hour and a half with zero apology. When we got the vehicle home, there were a few issues with it and we called three times and no calls were returned so we had to physically go to the dealership for a response. No follow up calls or even a simple thank you for our purchase was made. We were extremely disappointed in the entire process. Normally we would complain to the owner but we are unable to find any contact information on social media or the website and the "staff page" is not even filled out online. Do yourself a favor and find a dealership that cares about their customers vs claiming they are too busy during every single interaction. read more

10 wouldn't recommend the service department. Came in for an oil change, had them do a service check, I knew my car needed brakes, said that to them when I arrived. While service is getting done I test drive a nice suv I've been considering. When I return I see they're still working on my car so I have a seat. They check my car and what do you know it needs brakes, they tell me front brakes are $500! Just for the front ones , no way in hell. I say no and the front desk girl also says I need tires, which is interesting because I just changed out my front tires 3.5 months ago. Price tag for tires over 1k. I say no to that as well. Girl gets a bit snooty like I hurt her feelings by not spending my money. My car is ready 5 minutes or less after that, I see the front desk girl and mechanic whispering before hand, when I go to pay the girl reiterate's that it's dangerous for me to be driving my car because the brake pads are almost gone and I shouldn't be on the road. I said okay and roll my eyes because at this point they think I'm an idiot and I'm annoyed. They girl had a bit of an attitude the entire check out process. I go to my car to find my emergency brake all the way up!!!!! In a flat parking lot while parked. At this point they're just idiots, I knew my brakes needed to be done I told them when I walked in, but the emergency brake up is just over kill, the brakes still work I drove there which is less than 5 minutes from my house. Did they think my car was going to roll into the building? Just an FYI My brake appointment is Monday where I'll get all 4 done for about $350 and the only reason I came there for an oil change was because they had a $49.99 coupon. SMH never again. Very disappointing. I put down a fully-refundable $500 deposit for Vernon VW to hold a car for me to look at. I decided not to buy the car and they assured me they'd process my refund the next business day. It took more than three weeks and too many phone calls to finally get my money back, with no reasonable explanation for why it took so long. Military members who aren't CT residents, stay away! This dealership won't honor your non-resident tax reduction unless you own property in your state of legal residence, because they don't understand the law. Waste of time! read more

I purchased my Tiguan from Langan VW in Glastonbury 4 years ago. Our salesman was great and everything went smoothly. Soon after, the Vernon dealership opened up and I was glad since I had complimentary oil changes for the first 3 years/36,000 miles and this location is very close to my house. Fast forward to 2011 and I break down on the side of the highway. Not only was I freaking out because I could have died, but my car was only 3 years old and I was already outside of the manufacturer's warranty (over mileage)!! Thankfully my fiance was home, so he was able to come meet me on the overpass while I waited for the tow truck. Once the tow truck dropped my car off at the dealership was when the real fun began. I was quoted a price of around $1,000 dollars for parts that were covered under the EXTENDED WARRANTY I BOUGHT THROUGH LANGAN! Of course they had no record of this in their system and the guy actually copped major attitude when I mentioned it. How it wasn't in their system is really beyond me since I bought the car and warranty through them!! I am so glad we were able to find the paperwork or else we would have been completely SCREWED! To add insult to injury, there website promises loaners when your car is there for service, but when I asked I was given more attitude! Hello, do you really think people can go days without a car??!! I eventually got a car through my warranty and it all worked out well in the long run. Its just funny to receive that low level of service from a company that tells you if they don't get a 5 out of 5 on there guest scores, they fire employees, etc. After this incident, I swore of ever going to Langan VW, but due to some unique features on my car (electronic parking brake, damn you!), I was forced to return. I returned for an oil change maybe 6 months ago. I noticed that none of the associates I had issues with in the past were there. Also, I noticed the customer service had gone up about 1000%. The woman at the service counter ASKED me if I needed a shuttle ride home and back. I had never been asked that in the last 4 years. I felt so much better about bringing my car there for service. I had bought a 2015 Lexus IS 350 from them. I couldn't pass inspection because the e brake wasn't tight. I had fixed it myself. at first they told me I would be able to the the car home within a few days and it ended up being over a week. They said I could use temp plates from ct to mass. My insurance company said that is not true. I ended up getting the car after a week. I went to get my car and notice they are giving me one key when on the tag it said two keys so I asked them about it and they said they don't know where it is They told me they would call me back by the end of that week to see if they found it. I have yet to get a call from them and it's been over a month. Overall, their service is terrible. read more

The Service Advisor is rude and condescending to customers and doesn't think twice about badmouthing customers on the phone with a co-worker while she's supposed to be helping you! I had an air conditioning issue I brought in to have repaired 4 times since I bought the car in 2011 -- and it was never properly diagnosed/fixed. This last time, (mind you, the car is now out of warranty) they wanted to charge me $2k to have it fixed! I tried to speak to someone about it, thinking maybe they would help with the price since after all, the air conditioning hasn't worked properly since I purchased the car. As of today (three weeks from last apt); the service manager and the general manager have yet to call me or respond to my complaint. Normally, when it comes time for car shopping I cringe at the thought of going to the dealer. It's usually like being a seal dropped off in a shark tank. The sharks circle as they prepare to go in for the kill (i.e sale). Not at Langan. The service at Langan is very customer friendly and there isn't the feel of the high pressure sales pitch. I called and spoke to Josh who was very pleasant and knowledgeable. He was able to provide me with information on a vehicle I saw online and I instantly felt this would be worth the 1.5 hour drive from RI to Langan. Josh had the car ready when we arrived and had all the information on the car ready to review- carfax, maintenance history etc... Josh was very pleasant to work with, you can tell he is a "car guy" who wants to make sure you have the car that is best for you. His knowledge and expertise were impressive. Due to new CT registration rules, I did need to wait 2 days to receive the car, but Josh and another Langan employee delivered the car to me. They drove 3 hours roundtrip to bring the car to my doorstep. Josh also took the time to show me a few things and get bluetooth set up etc before they left my house. Overall, a great experience. I must add, while spending most of the day at Langan, I was able to enjoy their showroom. It is by far the most interesting and enjoyable showroom I have ever seen, Most VW showrooms are boring cookie cutter images of each other - but not Langan. They have classic VW cars on display! A must see!! My next VW purchase will need to be at Langan - worth the drive! read more

Came here after a disappointing experience at the Glastonbury location. I was browsing the lot when Mark approached me and helped me find an awesome CPO Jetta that I'm super happy with. Mark treated me with respect, took me seriously (I'm a 25 year old woman), and gave me a no BS experience to help me find a car. My car went there for service and my Laptop locked in trunk was stolen when there was no reason to open the trunk, I reported it right away to the service manager Mike Welsh and he said that they hadn't had a theft out of a car in 30 years. I went to the Vernon Ct. police and asked about the claim of the service manager {NO THEFTS OUT OF A CAR IN 30 YEARS} The police officer told me there were too many thefts to count. They also lied about an expensive part $2200.00 they claimed I needed I refused and took it else where where it was fixed NO CHARGE in 10 minutes.
