Solid Ramen - excellent, tender meat, a beautiful custardy yolk on the onse tamago, but the broth needs a bit more flavour and I'm not a fan of the Naruto Maki. Good service, nice ambience that references the Chinese origins of Ramen rather than the modern Japanese history, really good Macarons for dessert. *Great* prices for the large portions. Visited this amazing restaurant again and again my tastebuds were blown away. I don't care which Ramen you chose you will be blown away by the depth of flavors in your bowl. I could almost bathe in the broth. Delicious to the last drop. The Pork is so tender and flavorful. You can't go here without getting a couple appetizers. The ramen at Haru was comparable to that of other shops in Salt Lake City, but the menu is not as extensive and was a little on the pricey side: a bowl of noodles averages around $10. I spent a year in Korea and had ramen countless times and this place is pretty darn close to a traditional Asian ramen. We've recently moved to Layton and found this little ramen place. We've only DoorDashed and the first two times everything was perfect! I fell in love with the cream cheese wontons - they were so delicious I was dreaming about them! Then, the third time we ordered they came cooked in grease that was too hot (greasy and burnt) and smelled terrible because the fry oil was old. For anyone reading this who used to live in Japan, or who visited Japan once, or whose cousin has a Japanese neighbor... please remember that you are now in Layton Utah; a landlocked mountainous area out-west, well known for its abundance of chain restaurants and not much else food-wise. Ok, now that expectations have been properly set... on to the review. I ordered the miso ramen and I thought the broth had great flavor. The bok choi was ever so slightly garlicky, was wilted perfectly and retained some crunch. As another reviewer mentioned, it did look like someone had a hard time peeling the egg... but that is usually an indication of very fresh egg and since the yolk was creamy and the marinade just right I wasn't bother by the aesthetics. The chashu was very tender and flavorful though I personally prefer when its crispy on the outside which this wasn't. I did think the noodle texture was a little too soft but they were wonderfully silky. Service was polite, quiet, and quick. Price was about what I'd expect. This ramen shop completely met my expectations and I would certainly recommend it. read more

Yummy! First visit and I had the chicken ramen! I thought it was quite tasty and would order again. The service was delightful and quick. We showed up 15 mins before closing because we were craving some good ramen, and still received wonderfully, hospitable service. We were not rushed although we didn't want to linger out of respect for their closing time. We would happily come back to try some of the other tasty looking alternatives on the menu. I've never had the urge to write a review prior to this moment. We took a family trip between Salt Lake City and Yellowstone. Having come to a pit stop here we decided to go for ramen. However, upon entry we were told that meals here are restricted for tour groups only. This would be fine as clearly there was a Chinese tour group there dining, however by the tables to the right there were clearly several groups dining different set items who were not part of the tour. When we asked the restaurant owner about this she did not want to discuss and said that dine-in was for locals only. Because we were not local and not participating in the tour set meal, we were not allowed to dine at their establishment. I'm not one to complain about this but having my parents fly in to the states to show them a piece of historic America, seems we got more than bargained for to receive what only felt like discrimination. Upset, ashamed, embarrassed, the list of emotions go on as my folks were confused as to what had just transpired and why they were not allowed to eat here. A terrible experience in my life and sucks that my parents had to experience this as well. read more

I'm going to start this review by disclosing a few things: I've been to Japan and enjoyed fantastic ramen. It is my best effort to try and not skew my opinion too harshly because of this. Secondly, I tried this place because they are a recent competitor to my favorite ramen shop in the valley and, unfortunately, Jin's was closed. However, this restaurant pales in comparison. Here's why: No kids menu. When you've been to a restaurant that has a kids menu, but not ramen on it, and ask if they can split a bowl between your children and do it, it's rough when you ask the same of this restaurant and they bring you the full bowl with extra dishes to divide yourself. Dividing ramen isn't a clean or easy process. Maybe I'm spoiled. Service. It is sub-par. Not great. Not excellent. Just meh. Essentially, nothing stood out to me to make a relevant comment. Ramen. Their ramen is good, but it's not as good as Jin's. They have a bit of a bigger serving portion, but that doesn't make up for flavor. Still I ate it all. I'm giving them three stars because the ramen is decent and overall I didn't have a bad experience. It just didn't stand out. read more

I haven't been to a Ramen house before, and this was chosen for a date night by some neighbor friends. I looked at the yelp pictures from other users and thought the ramen noodle bowls looked not-Americanized (which is actually a good thing). Our party tried all four different Ramen bowls - Chicken, Beef, Curry, and the Miso. The chicken was my least favorite of the four I tried. The Miso tasted just like a miso soup, but I imagine a whole ramen bowl of that flavor would be too much. Place was sort of empty, so that helped. The Ramen was okay. Not the best I have ever had. But for this area it's pretty good. Not a whole lot of variety. Then again, that is what the add - on portion of the menu is all about. Customize your meal. Small variety of udon as well as rice dishes. Pretty good assortment of appetizers. I really liked this ramen. We got the Shoyu Ramen and it was what they described it as. I added mushrooms because I like them and also some sriracha to burn out a cold. The pork was my favorite part. The pork potstickers were absolutely delicious! The creamy pork ramen was impeccable after adding pepper flakes, sriracha, and chili oil. The braised beef ramen was yummy as well. Excellent place to go on a cold winter day to warm up your cold, achy bones after a hard days work. The ingredients are always fresh, and the food is cooked perfectly. Everything I've ever eaten there has been delicious. I was greeted at the door and promptly seated. Drinks were served shortly after. Orders were placed timely and I didn't feel rushed. Let me qualify my review by saying I'm no ramen connoisseur or general food snob. I just like good food. I've had good ramen out of a bag and from a restaurant, and likewise bad ramen. This ramen was really good though. I got the shoyu ramen; the broth was perfectly rich (not intensely so like tonkatsu but definitely not watery either) and slightly smoky. Toppings were all yummy and well prepared. Noodles were well textured. Good quantity for a hungry adult male; I left satisfied, not wanting but not bloated either.
