Another visit after another trip to the beach. This time we had lunch offerings. I picked the turkey club which comes with fries, soup of the day, coleslaw and pickle. He picked the cheesesteak with included the same. Suffice to say, we both took home leftovers. And with a bill under $20, it was the cheapest meal we had all weekend.

Perfect spot to stop after heading home to NJ without getting off our route. This place is a complete dive but still awesome. It's like one of those diners stuck in the past. Everything inside looks old and tired but service and food was great. Prices here are unbelievable. Where do you get a huge cup of soup and grilled cheese and fries for $5! My husband had the most expensive meal, the salmon special, at $9.99. His came with two sides and a huge salad. For 5 of us to eat with drinks and apps we spent $60...amazing! We left with full bellies and didn't get off track. It does seem like a very local spot even though it's right on a main highway. The waitresses were talking to other customers like they were there often.

The food was hot and tasty. The second time was a weekend and it was extremely busy. There were still a handful of tables available and you just pick any table you want and take a seat. I was not as happy with the service as it took a very long time for someone to give us menus and then we waited quite awhile for the server to come back and take our order. Once our order was placed it was a reasonable time to get our food but not crazy long. Our server didn't check back to refill drinks so that was not great but the food was still good so that was a plus. Will we go back, absolutely, but I will try to avoid the busy times.

On the other hand, service was friendly, attractive, helpful and turned out a very good Patty Melt and Fries for lunch. Although I came in wanting breakfast, I quickly learned that the morning meal was no longer available. The PM wasn't a bad alternative, although it was so greasy that I went through a half dozen napkins cleaning my hands, and switched to knife and fork for the sake of the environment. The customers seemed to be mostly local regulars who knew the servers and cashier and enjoyed the comfort of the dining room and kitchen. The lights were out in the back hall to the restrooms making for a dark walk to the toilets. Hope that is fixed soon for the sake of all the older customers who need the facilities. Three faded Stars for this mid 20th Century house.

Southern Grill - Fried chicken, sweet potato souflee, fried cabbage. It was all good but that cabbage was my favorite side dish from this meal.

Eating breakfast out is one of our favorite things and I am always up to try someplace new. Someone…read morerecommended this small cafe in Ellendale so we decided to give it a try. It is a very small cafe but nicely decorated. It was a Sunday morning and there were a few empty tables so we got seated right away. As far as food and prices, it is a great deal. You get a good quality of food and it was fresh and flavorful. We had western omelets, pancakes, French toast and grits. The two of us that had the omelets took half home for breakfast the next day. The service was friendly although it did take over a half hour from the time we sat down until we got our food so as long as you are not in a hurry I would say it was worth the wait. Give it try!

They let us know that our waffles kept sticking and they might have to give us pancakes instead. I found that odd. Makes me think the maker was so dirty that they couldn't get it to work. They brought us our eggs and put a slice of raunchy cheese on top. It was like eating plastic. The cheese was so bad it never melted on the piping hot eggs. It peeled off like a molding. The rest of the food was slop. If your dog sniffs it and walks away, it's a sign. We didn't dine in. Good thing because we ended up throwing everything away and driving to Rehoboth. Later we discovered they literally serve rodents (muskrats). Supposedly it's a Delaware thing, but they are the only ones that do it. GAG!
