This is a great place to go to for breakfast. Located on the strip going to Rohoboth beach, it provided a quaint place to allow you explore the local food. The location itself is a bit small and cramped. I had the luck to sit in a table close to the window, providing ample space. The bathroom is maintained but there is only one, so it is constantly being used by patrons. The trash can in the bathroom was a bit filled with trash but the rest was clean. Jodie was a great server. She was attentive, answered our questions and addressed our concerns. She made the experience well. She provided me with coffee refills throughout, ensuring I never ran out throughout my time eating. The food is made to order, so there is a slight wait to get your food. I bought the crab omelette. It was delicious with the crab being jumbo lump and with flavor and taste. There could be more cheese inside the omelette to make it cheesy. It was there but not fully. Definitely try it with the old bay. My family also got a crepe. It was big and with taste. It is a great place to show up early in the morning for breakfast to then prepare for the beach. We recently stopped in for breakfast on a Friday morning. Being the off season, the restaurant was not full and there was no wait. We both decided to order one of the daily specials only to be told they were out of the ingredients. This was very disappointing since it was before 11 am and this special was available all day. Instead, we settled on the apple cheesecake crepe and a daily special of a breakfast burrito. The crepe itself was ok but it hardly had any filling and was overly topped with sauces. The breakfast burrito was ok but here, again, it barely had any filling inside. A note about cleanliness...as we were finishing up, we noticed a buser cleaning a nearby table. He hand cleaned a mess on the floor and got some of it on his hands which he wiped on his pants in an attempt to clean off his fingers and then went right to setting up cutlery on the table...yuck. read more

Soooooo, a 35 minute wait for a table. Not unusual for a Sunday in a beach town. But as now it has been 45 minutes since we ordered and no sign of our food. OK, after 50 minutes we got our food. Our server promised the crab soup was very good. It was hot when I got it. BUT it had an oil slick a quarter of an in thick. Really GROSS. I have to give them credit for getting the bacon crispy as ordered. One of our party ordered a biscuit with egg and cheese. She said the basic egg and cheese was fine, but the biscuit was very dry. Another diner got a caprese which she liked. Despite the positive reviews, we had a less than stellar dining experience. A great place to have breakfast. We had a large party of 10 over the holiday weekend and called when we were five minutes out and they said they would have a table ready. We got right in and sat in the back, a cute place and larger than you think when you first walk in. We were treated right away and our server was super friendly and attentive. We had lots of different orders - crepes, omelettes, avocado toast, the banana split, and chicken and waffles. Everyone loved their food and the chicken and waffles was a big hit with a large piece of chicken. The price was good and overall an excellent experience. I would highly recommend. read more

Bright, clean, and yes, sunny cafe. The service was warm and friendly and the food delicious! You won't need refills because the "cups" are huge and the coffee is diner string and hot. They are open for lunch also and have a great selection, including their own recipe crabcake, which my friend decided to try and loved it. I stuck with breakfast and tried the local scrapple, which people tell me is an acquired taste if you're not from the tri-state are, but I am, and it was also perfect--spicy with a pleasant texture and cooked perfectly crispy on the outside. What I noticed was a stock board with various flash cards, basically a pay it forward type of thing, take one that applies to you (get a free rice pudding) and pay for another to put up... My friend didn't like the rice pudding though. We all got the sunrise breakfast but various different ways: I had scrambled eggs w/ grits and bacon. This is the second time we've come to Sunny Bay. Such a warm and friendly place. The avocado toast is very very large. Next time I will order half, since I ended up scraping avocado towards the middle and not eating the bread (always watching that darn blood sugar). They also have a board where people pay it forward with someone for a free dessert. I took one last time for bereavement, then bought one for anyone who lost 2 parents in less than a year.
