First time at Harvest Moon and had to try the crab sandwich...DELICIOUS!! Definitely will be back.

My wife and I recently traveled from San Diego to Modesto. And while there we were excited about enjoying a great meal at Harvest Moon. So we headed over to the location arriving at approximately 3:45pm. Please note that they weren't scheduled to close until 4:00pm. 5 stars for service alone...but I'll come back to that. I've been hearing about Harvest Moon since I moved to Modesto and finally tried it. It's smaller and kinda odd shaped, but whatevs. First, they have THE BEST lemonade I've had in a long time. Kinda tart, you can tell the they make it there. I had the breakfast sandwich and I love that they ask you how you want your eggs. It's not just standard. Now- onto the service....sweet little Honesty was the best server I have had in a looong time. She went out of her way to grab stuff for us, kept my damn good lemonade filled, told me about the parking restrictions and just had the best personality. The other girls at the front were super nice too. It's just a nice place to go, eat good food and chill. Side note- haven't had avocado tacos since I was in the Bay and I can't wait to try them next time! read more

Went in for lunch with my family so we were able to try a little of a lot! French dip Tri tip Cajun pasta all 10/10 and the salads were huge and tasty as well Our server autumn was very nice and helpful read more

TASTY OR WASTEY? Total Wastey!!! I came to this place years ago when it first opened. I remember it being pretty good. Decided about 10 years later to try it again. I ordered a salad with grilled chicken. How in the world can someone actually mess up a salad?! It's lettuce, on a plate! The lettuce, with dry sliced chicken on it, and very little dressing, was such a disappointment! I will not be back. I would definitely not recommend. PS.... Just read some of the reviews, and I'm noticing the "cut and paste" apology " Not cool Hello, Jessi. You, are right. I, should have let the staff know... wait! I, did. Nothing could have revived chicken that dry. What are they marinating it in, saw dust? It was the worst LETTUCE, and, chicken, I've ever had. I'm giving you transparent feed back. Think about all the customers that don't use Yelp, that just don't come back. Yelp is here to help you be better. It's not personal... it's just not to our liking. Grilled Cheese ... really I will just start by saying that the salad tasted strange. This place was a good spot years ago. I think they need an update to the menu in my opinion. Menu resembles a diner menu Grilled Cheese (Gorilla Cheese) !! Really? Crab omelette or Maybe a crab sandwich in Modesto ...? This menu is terrible and the food lacks luster. First time here so review might be rough. Ordered tri tip and garlic fries,water and coffee. I had to ask three times for the water ,coffee was good. As for my plate seemed to be fries in my mountain of garlic compared to my friends garlic fries they definitely went heavy on mine. Tri tip taste good to be honest and I am not one to complain about extra food but this sandwich quickly turned into a heap of food on my plate bread stood no chance 2 bites and fell apart. Definitely over loaded the sandwich to me that's not good to other maybe you would appreciate that. But yeah that's all. read more

Came here for a friend's birthday brunch on a Sunday and it was awesome! It was really busy, but we were seated pretty much right away. Our server, Honesty, was very attentive and great! She let us know about the specials and answered all our questions about the menu. Everything we ordered was absolutely delicious! The burgers were on point. This was a cheat meal for a few in our party and they both said it did not disappoint. The sweet potato fries with the honey mustard dipping sauce was really good. The garlic fries though....man oh man were they scrumdillyumptious!!!! Perfectly cooked,lightly crispity crunchy on the outside and a nice potatoey inside, topped with fresh garlic and just an explosion of goodness!!! I could eat that all day and still get it every time, they were that good. Drinks were really good. We got the blueberry lemonade and the Tiffany mimosa and both were nice. Overall, we love Harvest Moon. Food is consistently good and a nice, cozy ambience. read more

I went to try the famous crab sandwich, but it wasn't available... but I was not disappointed!! I had the shrimp toss salad... sooooo good! My mom had the special catfish po boy and the fish was SO fresh and cooked perfectly!! Not to mention our beautiful server staying nearby to dote on us and the awesome bartender who even checked on us as well to see if we liked our drinks! I had seen this place on Yelp for MONTHS not sure what it was, then to find out this is Harvest Moon, some place new. But the service that was granted upon a friend of mine and myself; I will never come here again. Upon entering it appears to be a former old home, which I liked but it's completely cramped. The gentlemen who stood at the front was extremely rude as my friend went to move my car. He literally looked me up and down and would not even speak to me. I sat there for over 3-5 minutes staring at him, then he asked "Can I help you?" I told my friend we should leave, she begged me to stay. As for the food, exactly what I expected I got. Ordered a blue cheese burger, and the pictures show what they sent to the table. Don't waste your time coming here. Overpriced for a burger that had blue cheese sauce and a strip of bacon. read more

I used to love Harvest Moon. Today's experience was a disappointment to say the least. I ordered biscuits and gravy. The biscuits were way underdone, still pasty in the middle, and the gravy was flavorless. In addition, it was cold. I had to ask that it at least be "nuked." No decaf coffee and we had to request coffee refills 3 or more times each time. I'm so sad. read more

For the first time since the pandemic began, we decided to hit an old downtown Modesto favorite for lunch, the Harvest Moon Restaurant. Right as we entered, there seemed to be something wrong. None of the servers, none of the kitchen staff, and none of the patrons were wearing masks, despite Stanislaus County mandates for same through February 12th. This will be the last time we will visit. I hope I didn't get anything more than just the Neil's Toss. read more

Stop in the place yesterday as we were escorting our daughter for High school graduation. the place is very nice and they were very busy yet accommodating to our party of 5. The sampler platter : shrimp, chicken skewers, and sweet potato fries. the dipping sauce was good but just a little thinned out but good tasting The burger selection is very good but I was sold on the special that day Blacken Catfish with vegetable melody & garlic fries. The season fries were very good. the salads they have are very hearty and they make a stiff drink to did I mention that? The pasta one of our guests had was very nicely portioned had to drink it home for later. Coffee is my thing and it was good too but needed to be a little hotter. The outside sitting was great a little noise due to cars, bikes, etc.. but that is why we were sitting out there to enjoy the life going by. Autumn was our server she was great. This is a gem in downtown Modesto! The service is always great! They offer interior and outdoor seating. Interior seating is extremely tight but done well. Our favorite entrees are the Neil's Toss (salad) which has a delicious fresh dressing. Also the crab sandwich which is generously packed with fresh crab and fries. We've tried several other entrees and are always pleased. If you're not on your work lunch, I recommend coming early 11 or wait until the weekday lunch crowd thins out around 1:30 for an even more pleasant experience. We'll be back! read more

Good food that includes unique and traditional menu items. Restaurant has that quaint downtown feel. They have inside and outside seating in tight quarters. Employees were nice but service was limited. Once we got our food, we were not checked on again, so only one cup of coffee given with breakfast. Short of standing up and going to get someone, we could not get the attention of a server without being rude. We ended up sharing a fork. We were offered more coffee when we were ready to leave. The server noticed I wasn't eating and offered the redo the omelet but we had already been there 40 minutes and my table mate was near the end of her food, so I declined. Oh my. I returned with a friend after letting them know how fabulous this restaurant was. This visit we had Autumn as our waitress. I am not sure if she was having a horrible day or just plain rude. She never checked on us and her attitude was just so bad that I am still in disbelief. We cannot think of anything we did to make her mad. She was nice to another table so just plain odd. Would have complained but she carried of to another table about how "they were open in the evenings..." we thought she was the owner. Anyway, lots of options downtown including Raw across the street. I have not been to harvest moon in quite a long time. I stopped years ago, because the old owner was a POS. I've been meaning to try it and I'm so glad I did this morning. We had a group of 4 and a toddler, and the customer service and food was amazing! My friend said it was the best eggs benidict he's ever had. Everyone thoroughly enjoyed their brunch. I have been a constant costumer of this establishment for over 10 years and have always enjoyed it. Ever since its been under new ownership the ambiance has got even better than ever. Their food is amazing, the prices are reasonable, and the portions are huge!!! The individuals who work their, from the servers, to the cooks, to the owner herself are spectacular and they make sure you feel welcomed. This restaurant has become a weekly treat for me and try to go their as often as possible.
