We had originally wanted to stay in the lodge building, but it wasn't open yet for the season. It's just as well, we had a delightful time in the main house. We were the only guests, since it was a misty, chilly weekend (we were up to visit friends). The owners are helpful and friendly. We stayed in the Cranberry Room ... I feel like the web site photos do not do the room justice. The furniture is very nice, without the lace and frills of too many B&Bs. The queen bed was comfortable enough ... we didn't sleep well, but I don't blame the bed, I think we just sleep best in our own bed! The house itself retains a lot of its original 19th century details, like original hardware, so if you like "old houses", you'll like this one. Breakfast in the morning was right on time, and delicious. Special mention goes to the views - this area is gorgeous, even on a rainy March/April weekend. I would definitely come back. The only negative I can think of is that the road leading to the house is not paved, which may present a problem, especially at the bottom of the hill. (It's also badly marked, but so are many roads in the region). The drive for the house is not paved, either, but I felt like that went with the country atmosphere, so I'm not sure it's a detriment. For the price, and the area, a great value, and a wonderful stay.

The grounds were picturesque, the photographer kept remarking how easy his job was with the lovely background. The cocktail hour was held in the newly renovated barn space and was a hit. We used the space both to serve refreshments and as a dance floor. Having everything on site made the planning and execution easy. The event space has the added benefit of the ability to host guests on-site. My family traveled from China and despite coming from a big city, they felt at ease in this rural, upstate New York farm house. It was exceptionally clean, the fridge and stove are brand new, and there is plenty of space in this sweeping home. A great venue, I can't recommend enough!

Without a doubt if we had to do it all over again, we would have no hesitation to book with you! For those who are looking for a place where they do EVERYTHING for you, this is not that kind of place, nor should it be. They do lots of the heavy lifting for you though, thats for sure. But you'll have to do the set up yourselves unless you want hire people to do it for you (ala wedding planner style). And you'll also have to provide your own alcohol permit for the day of your party. Not a big deal, you can get that online through NYS pretty easy, even from being out of state its not a hassle at all. The one drawback, is that there's NO Air Conditioning in the place. And when its hot out, that place can get pretty hot! For years, September months in the Fingerlakes were cooler. But these past few years its been getting hotter and hotter. Our wedding day it was in the mid 80's and muggy so it made it a bit unbearable to be in the back room area (where the band is). When the sun went down, it got a bit cooler, but it was still hot overall in the bldg. If the folks @ CM read this, that is one recommendation I would make - invest in a solid Central Air system for your hall; a system that you could possibly let people rent (in addition) for their party, or just charge a little extra for each party booked. Also, your A/C units in the rental houses on the property are sub-standard. Again, small investment which would make a huge difference for your guests. The bride and groom had to pull out of having the reception at the Silo. Management turned from kind and helpful to rude and disrespectful. He defiantly showed his true colors. We were not allowed to use the inn during the ceremony which made it hard to keep tradition for the bride and groom not to see each other before walking the isle and the bride and groom were charged twice. It was childish behavior of management and unprofessional. I was vary disappointed, but the ceremony was beautiful. The chairs and arch where set up when we got to the site, but we never saw anyone one from management to answer questions for congratulate the bride and groom. I would be carful working with the Silo for any event, but if you are a tough cookie I think you will like the Silo ceremony site.
