I am a seal beach local & we shop here frequently. Spending hundreds of dollars here each visit, over $1000 this past year. Recommending it to family and friends. However, We will no longer be shopping here & will encourage others to stop as well. April 9th my mother purchased a pair of shoes for my grandmother for Mother's Day. She told the manager they were a gift and may need to exchange for a different size. Today, we went to exchange for a smaller size (same style shoe). Reluctantly the sales clerk agreed to make the exchange but we would need to pay the price difference since the shoes were no longer on sale. We agreed, conditionally requesting she talk to her manager. Returning momentarily to get our original receipt, out of nowhere, a different sales girl said "get out of my store, we don't want your business anyway". Thanks to this unnecessary rudeness, Harvey Girls has lost our business. It is sad to see such more salesmen ship ruin this place. This shop is so super cute and it's run by a mom and daughter who place utmost value on only selling top quality USA-made products. I peeked in the window a couple of times while walking down Main Street and didn't dare stop in figuring that it was going to be very pricey... just by chance yesterday I was peeking in their window yet again and a price tag happened to be facing out on a really cute dress in the window and I almost fainted at how reasonable the cost was! I went in and found the most delicious assortment of hand picked clothing and accessories; all for VERY REASONABLE PRICES!!! Goldmine seriously. These folks are new to the area, and I am in favor of supporting them to the hilt to ensure that they are around for a long time (for selfish reasons). Thank you ladies. Really don't recommend this place. Called ahead asked if I could return something with the tags still on that I got as a gift. They said yes but when I drive all the way down to the store they said no because I didn't have a receipt. Seems like they actually need a return policy. read more

This store is fabulous!! They always have unique and interesting clothes and gifts, and the prices are great. They have a large selection of Trapp candles and plenty of one of a kind pieces. The owners are always around, know their products, and can make recommendations. Love this place! read more

This is a great little shop with an interesting and unique array of clothing, accessories and gift items. I had a very good customer service experience here: I bought two pairs of sandals and unfortunately I felt that they didn't fit right and I had to return them. They were very accommodating and helpful and couldn't have been nicer. I ended up with a new pair of fabulous sandals and a great linen dress. Their shoe selection is outstanding and if they don't have your size they are happy to order for you. I follow their Instagram feed and always see things I want :) read more

Bad experience. As a customer, I was caught in Harvey Girls internal sales/management problems and it was projected onto me, the customer. Owners also solve their problems by "railroading conversations" purposefully to prevent hearing what a customer has to say -- it's their way or no way. They didn't back their sales person (who broke their rule) and projected onto me inappropriately. Now I own a pair of their shoes from Spain where the right sandal squeaks and the other doesn't. Marianne said, "Sorry, hope you enjoy your shoes!" Background? Sales clerk, Anna, said one thing (if I buy the sale shoe in size 10 and if it doesn't work out, I can bring it back and they will special order a bigger size). So, I acted on the offer. Marianne the owner accepted the exchange and special ordered a larger pair. It was pretty straight forward. Everything is good. I had no idea this was against store policy -- how could I when their staff are doing the act! Apparently, that goes against their store policy -- that was overridden by the sales clerk and Marianne. A week later, I received an odd call from a frustrated Brook, the daughter of the owner, who vented on me. She shockingly railroaded the conversation. In her filibuster fit, she back peddled that her sales person shouldn't have said that and her mother shouldn't have special ordered the new shoes, and they didn't charge me for shipping -- so therefore I was at fault or something. I am not apart of their internal operations, I can only go by what they say and do. I certainly was punished by her conversation. Had they told me the size 10 was a final sale, I would have exercised my right not to buy. But, the sales girl broke their rule and said I could return them and she would order a bigger size. read more

They have an eclectic collection of clothes, accessories, and home goods that is the perfect mix of whimsy, tasteful craftsmanship, and artistry that will delight anyone with a refined bohemian heart. Many of their items are from fair-trade collectives, which always gives me a little extra incentive to purchase them. From the rich, warm colors that fill the window display, to the friendly, helpful service I received, my experience at Harvey Girls was a fantastic one. Harvey girls has lost my business forever. Brook, the co-owner, was mean and rude to me and my two year old son. My son was being good in the store, the saleswoman was nice, but then Brook walked in and instantly took a dislike to my son standing in a dressing room. She demanded he get out so I held his hand and started walking to the door. As we walked by he touched a pair of jeans and she grabbed his hand and yanked until he released the jeans. Just as we got to the door she said, "would you just leave already!" There is so much wrong with this interaction I will just hit the main points: Do not put your hands on my kid! It's bad business to kick kids out of your store, guess you don't want $ from moms. Do not be rude to your loyal customers. My family has frequently shopped at the store and spent plenty of $$$ over the last couple of years and introduced others to the place. I went from a customer recommending your store to everyone to someone telling every mom I know to never walk through your door. read more

I WAS a LOYAL HG customer until Brooke was rude to both me and my mother over a defective item that was CLEARLY the manufacturer's fault. I LOVE spending my money at local owned businesses but unfortunately this is NOT going to be one of them. I have referred many friends and family to the store whom have dropped thousands and I will put a stop to that as well..... Customer Service is the cornerstone of what small businesses are built on. I've been going to Seal Beach since I was a little girl and hadn't been there in years! I was surprised to find this little boutique because my boyfriends last name is Harvey, so it was a must for us to go in. They had many different jewelry items scarfs and accessories. Unfortunately the pair of earrings I bought from the store, in which I loved, were lost after I put them in a nurses scrub pocket of mine. I can't wait till the website is up and running so I can order another pair. Great shop and friendly cashier. Harvey Girls = horrible customer service! Don't shop here, save your money. 3 words...RUDE, RUDE, RUDE! I live a couple blocks away, like to shop local and encourage friends and family to do the same. There are plenty of other stores on Main St. to shift my business too. I will NEVER shop at Harvey Girl's again. On an average, I would spend $150+ once or twice a month - No More! I purchased some shoes for my mother and needed to return for a smaller size. With my receipt in hand I was told by the sales clerk if she allowed me to exchange I would have to pay the full price, not the sale price, keep in mind this was an exchange for size only. Then some other nasty bitch (sorry no other description fits)of a sales clerk (out of the blue) tells me to get out of her store that they do not need my business. Well Harvey Girls has earned its place as just another little store that does its best to drive away local customers. read more

I had an unfortunate experience here approximately a month ago. I had purchased a dress and I remember noticing a slightly funny smell when I was trying it on. I figured it was just the smell of the new fabric and would come out in the wash. Well, when I went to school a few days later I was in a rush so I did not wash it. I just threw it on and went to school. But as I was sitting there in class it was not long before I nearly couldn't breathe from the smell of the dress. I had no idea what was going on! I felt nauseous and was coughing and beginning to get a headache. It got to the point where I had to change into my gym clothes as soon as I got out of class. I realized there was no way in heck I was gonna get that nasty smell out, so as soon as I got home I went on down to Harvey Girls Gallery to return it. Well, when I got there I was informed that because of the policy that "sale items are final" I could not return the dress. I couldn't even exchange it for store credit. I tried to reason with the girl that this was damaged merchandise. Her co-worker merely piped in that sometimes they sell damaged merchandise on the sales rack because people will buy it and fix it themselves. But I argued that this product was unfixable. I told her it had an awful smell and even tried to get her to smell it. She refused. They insisted upon the policy and told me to go home and wash it. Well, when I got home I realized what the smell had been all along: MOLD. I tried to wash it regardless. I soaked it in hot water with vinegar for an hour, rinsed it, and then washed it by hand with water and laundry detergent. To no avail. The smell was rancid as ever. I could have taken the sopping wet dress back and argued it was moldy but I did not feel like getting teamed up on again by the two women working there. (The women working there are nice as can be, until of course you want your money back). My only option was to throw the dress away. $32 down the drain. I think the saddest part of all of this was that I had spent $180 there and was not even treated as a priority. I would have returned everything I bought there just to feel a sense of justice, but I knew there was no point because half of it was sales stuff. Suffice to say this was a very agitating and uncomfortable experience for me and I will never be shopping here ever again. I still get a bad vibe just walking by this store in town. read more
