I've been passing by this place for some time and finally gave it a try. The interior is not what I thought it was going to be. It's actually a great place to enjoy good food and drinks. Plenty of tables for families or friends. When the weather is nice they have outdoor seating. Their menu offers something for everyone and with a full bar you can quench your thirst. They offer a variety of flavored mimosas and they give you plenty of food to fill you up. Prices are about average. We were seated right away but it does get busy at times so be prepared. This place has been on my list for a while. Definitely a solid breakfast spot if you're craving some nice breakfast staples (eggs, hash, pancakes, etc). I got the Mexican hash with a biscuit. The meal is definitely heavy and comes with a ton of food. Pretty much what you would expect from a good, heavy hash. I love that there are lots of different options. My mom got Linguica and eggs and seemed to enjoy her dish. I definitely want to go back and try some of the other hashes, Benedicts, and omelets. The mimosas were also solid and have a lot of different options for flavors. It's always good to have a nice classic breakfast spot (with a small twist). read more

I ordered veggies hash which comes with scrambled whites, spinach, avo and their spiced house potatoes, BF had fried chicken bennies. I thought it was odd because the bennies came with scrambled eggs instead of poached? Anyway whatever. He said the chicken was really good. My egg whites were the only thing I liked and was edible. Their spiced house potatoes sounded so good on the menu. But they were gross. The potatoes came wet- and the tomatoes tasted off. Usually house potatoes are tasty, and crispy- not soaking wet. There was a pool of water, maybe from all the veggies. Whatever the reason was, I couldn't eat it. I threw most of my food away. My BF didn't touch his house potatoes either. read more

Maybe I caught the cook on an off night, but the chicken in the "Chicken Hash" was really dry. The hash itself was pretty standard in terms of flavor. The best part of the dish was the biscuit. I am happy to report that the service was quick and attentive though. read more

I mostly get takeout from here and the times I've gone in the service was great! Their corned beef hash is my go-to breakfast. House made, not from a can. We were happy to eat inside a restaurant for the first time. We chose to because there was actually no one else inside when we got there. If there was we also had the option to sit outside. Finally got around to trying this place after always seeing it every time I'm in the area. Lots of parking and the inside is very nice. They have an outdoor patio area for seating which I'm sure fill up quick if it's available. I usually judge a place like this on how crispy their hash browns or potatoes are, so when I glanced over at the table next to me and saw the hash browns were actually crunchy and had nice color I got excited. Not like Black Bear Diner and their raw and unseasoned grated potatoes they want to call hash browns. I ordered the chicken fried steak and I'm pretty sure the waiter asked if I wanted "Crispy" potatoes, so I responded "yes, Crispy". What I got was soggy boiled country style potatoes. They had flavor but I got a little disappointed if I'm being honest after seeing the crispy hash browns at the table next to us. I tried it and it wasn't terrible, just not what I was anticipating. Shortly after, someone, I'm assuming the manager asked how we were doing. I asked him "are these the crispy potatoes?", he responded "oh did you want them crispy?", I said "I thought I ordered crispy potatoes and just wanted to know if these were the crispy potatoes", he said "I can get you hash browns if you like?" At that point I realized my question wasn't being answered so I just gave up lol. Maybe I'm making a big deal about potatoes. Next time I'll just be honest and tell him what I want, and tip well for accommodating the request. The biscuits, If I'm being honest, the biscuits are whatever. They were soft and had no color. If it wasn't for the gravy I wouldn't even touch it. The gravy was great though. Also, Make sure you look at your bill because we ended up getting the bill of the guest who sat at the table before us. It was also 3x more than our meal. I did a Grubhub breakfast order from this establishment and more often then not the order isn't right. I called the establishment and conveyed that I received pancakes that had no butter or syrup included. A gentleman named Denny (not sure of his position, if he is not management he should be) not only brought the condiments personally but a fresh order of pancakes for good measure! It's individuals like this that understand the importance of customer satisfaction and this practice is less and less the normal in this crazy day in age. We have been to Hashes & Brew about three times now and with each subsequent visit, I wonder if this place is worth another try. We had a good first impression from our initial experience when they first opened, but it has been a downward spiral since then. First of all, eating in an unclean atmosphere definitely does not make for an enjoyable experience. At our most recent visit, the staff made sure to clean our table before they sat us, but, unfortunately, they did not perform a thorough job. In fact, I asked them to wipe down the booth bench before I would sit on it and also requested that they clean the dirty spots that they missed on the table. The floor under our table was filthy with food droppings everywhere. I was quite uncomfortable and had to distract myself from being disgusted. As for the food, portions are pretty generous, sometimes big enough to share between two people. On the flip side, flavour and/or quality of the food are average to below average. At both of her visits, Mom did not like her dishes. Service, though, is nice and friendly, but not enough to merit three stars. read more

This is our neighbor go to when we can't think of what everyone wants to eat. They have a huge all day breakfast menu which is terrific for picky family members; and a large assortment of other choices in the American Classics category. Good huge burgers, some tasty sandwiches and hearty full salads. They also have entrees later in the day which are hit or miss - mostly good with a few at the ok level. Big portions. Good bar selection and excellent service if they're not too swamped. Lately everywhere is suffering from being understaffed but we typically don't go on weekends so this is never an issues. Comfortable dining room with plenty of space and really nice outdoor area with heaters. Overall a true neighbor gem with good food, super friendly and attentive staff and very reasonable prices. read more

Our visit was on a weekday so we found seating right away. We were immediately greeted by our server, Carol, who took our drink order quickly. The menu options are plenty and the portions are pretty hearty. My husband didn't finish his Irish hash, which says a lot because he usually clears off his plate before I can even unfold my napkin! The food was actually prepared very nicely-over medium eggs sometimes get messed up in one or the other direction. Never thought I would come to Hashes & Brew for dinner night. If I were to come here for breakfast, I would have few limited options just for me to choose based on its name, hence dining for lunch or dinner was the only way to show I like coming here. Though there weren't any dish worth vegan in Hashes & Brew, I could choose anything that's good from my line of taste buds. Last night, I went for the dinner specials. While my whole family had chosen their comfort food, I chose a very different food out of the comfort zone. Fast forward, I wanted to take a picture of what my dish looked like, and it got fuzzy. I would like anyone to take a guess; but since I already have to let the word out, why not? It's Chicken Souvlaki, with some greens and plenty of fries! Loved mines riveted in herbs and spices, grilled and salted to perfection! A nice cucumber tzatziki yogurt dip did wonders! Fries? Carbs didn't bother me and managed to finish all of them. I never forget about the vinaigrette soaked greens either. Back to the Spinach/Artichoke dip with crispy tortilla chips. A warm melts-in-your-mouth indeed. I had no further comments about the atmosphere, and the customer service was as good as it gets. The background songs, I would guess late 90s. Our server was doing nicely for us as I see fit. Yet service was a bit slow and for some reason in this cool morning they decided to also keep it cool inside when we were hoping for a nice warm and cozy breakfast. We had to keep our coats on. Food overall was okay. But judging from the other reviews maybe it was just an off day. So I'm not sure if we'll be back to try again or not. Had the Linguica Hash and 2 eggs basted. The eggs were Good, the hash was disappointing. It was not crispy and linguica was tasteless. Seemed like they just took it out if a warming pan. Located right infront of the Walmart, San Bruno office, I was here for a team brunch. It's a very clean place and was not very crowded. Has a lot of natural light coming Chicken Chipotle Sandwich has chicken breast with tomato, lettuce, avocado and mayoneese on hamburger buns and you can choose between french fries, sweet potato fries and hash brown as a side. I really liked the sandwich (more like a burger) and it was so fresh. I also ordered healthy freshly squeezed orange juice. It really had orange pulp. Veggie Rueben is not that great though. It has spinach, mushrooms, red onions with thousand island dressing and cheese. The red onions are probably soaked in a lot of vinegar which gives the entire thing a sour flavour that I do not enjoy a lot and too many onions left me with a bad breath. Waiters are nice and soft spoken and service is quick. The sandwich cost me $14 while the juice was $6. Highly recommend this place for breakfast/brunch.
