We were approached by multiple salesman and the one we ended up with followed us around the whole store, and pressured up to pick something out that very day. Wasn't a huge fan of that vibe. Its held up great, so when I was looking for a low but long dresser (another odd size space to fill) and I figured I'd check them out again. I'd shopped around and had no luck finding something that fit my criteria. First, it needed to fit in the space. Second, it needed to be in my price range. Third, it needed to be REAL furniture, not that Amazon press board type of junk. On top of all that if it matched my room then even better, but I'd sacrifice on looks if I had to. I walked in and was greeted right away. The sales guy asked if I was looking for something specific or just browsing. I told him what I was looking for and exactly what my max dimensions were as I walked around looking at the dressers. He walks away for a second and comes back and calls me over to a dresser. "If you don't mind keeping the legs off of it this might work". Sure enough this thing was picture perfect. It was Just at the max for my dimensions and budget, but that included threshold delivery. The boss on duty came over and we finalized everything so easily, I honestly should have just started my day here and saved myself a lot of trouble shopping around. My delivery came on time and at the earliest point in my 3 hour window. Super nice delivery team as well. This makes 2 great experiences at this spot for me so I definitely recommend checking them out!

I came in to the Vernon Hills Illinois store to buy a daybed. The salesperson, Lisa, only had one…read more I then walked around the store myself and found a recliner I liked. Unfortunately, Lisa had no time to help me. The next day I contacted the store but again, Lisa had no time to help me. I did leave a message for the store manager to call me. However, "Taylor" did not return my call. I then stopped by their location in Skokie. They had the chair. The sign said $1650 was the price. But when the salesman rang it up, the price had jumped to $1730. A supervisor I called at the corporate level could not explain the difference. Then a customer service woman called me to say they quoted a chair with lumbar support. I did not ask for this extra feature. I was not told the sale was being rung up with the add on. I could not get the store to see what the problem was here. So I will not be buying from Penny Mustard. If you are buying there, double-check the posted price versus what is rung up. Something is definitely off with their selling practices In my opinion.

I believe we have a problem here. The 2 mattresses I purchased mid-January were promised in "2 - 3…read moreweeks" because they were "custom made." I bought the line. This stretched to 4 weeks where I was re-promised 2 more weeks. I pulled the plug at 6 weeks with no sign that I would ever get my purchases. My request for a refund was processed immediately upon request. This experience resembled a ponzi scheme whereby my payment was being used to pay down prior expenses and the factory simply was not delivering new goods. American Mattress has apparently already gone through reorganization and the retail landscape is littered with their closed stores. It is unfortunate because I liked the product I chose and found the salesperson knowledgeable. But my recommendation is buyer beware.

I worked with Bob Palka, sales manager... and he was awesome! He hooked me up with a Simmons Beauty Rest and I'm sleeping like a baby now. These guys have their own delivery drivers - not subcontracted - which is important if you don't want to get talked out of refusing a delivery after having holes cut in your old mattress (Steinhafel's in VH... stay away from them!). American Mattress has a great return/exchange program and Bob is a solid sales guy who cares about his customers. Go see Bob!!!

Upon walking in, we were greeted and explained what the different color codes meant. The salesman kept wanting to "educate" us on the different selections and I explained I would probably have more questions after browsing a bit. He asked me to take off my coat and get comfortable/lay on the beds to which I said, "no", and that I would find a few I liked and then compare them to one another/ask questions/etc. He refused to let me walk through the store and was taking deep breaths/closing his eyes like he was trying to maintain his composure. I simply wanted to browse the selection before coming to him with questions, but he was following me around basically telling me that I needed to ask him questions to get "educated" on the selection. I began to feel a bit uncomfortable (and it takes a LOT for that to happen) and, for the first time in my life, I walked out of a store due to the creepy, extremely pushy/aggressive treatment. I understand retail as a business and the current state of brick & mortar stores, but this type of behavior is enough to make a potential customer *not* want to purchase from your location (or from your chain of stores in general). This employee is obviously unstable, but, in the end, it reflects poorly on Mattress Firm as a whole. I took my business to Bloomingdale's where the salespeople were happy to let me browse, ask a few questions, and ultimately make my $3K+ purchase. All I needed was a few minutes to browse the inventory, Mattress Firm. Don't push people out the door because you're desperate to make your sales...
