I've had mixed experiences mattress shopping at stores, often times being annoyed at trying to be upsold at every opportunity or having to work around the sales people. As well, shopping solely online isn't viable because we need to test to mattresses to ensure they suit our special needs (my partner and I are both uncommonly shaped). In this recent instance, we needed to test mattresses as well as compare different adjustable bases. Hassleless Mattress was our first stop. The showroom is vary spacious, featuring numerous brands and styles of mattress in different configurations with adjustable bases. Go up to the table, sanitize your hands, grab a disposable pillow cover, and start laying down. My partner and I were able to try everything out at our leisure, and spend enough time testing different combinations to see what suited our needs best. We easily narrowed down the type (hybrid innerspring with memory foam), size, and brand. After that, we compared the different adjustable bases, and found one we liked. There was a seasonal special that saved us $200, and the free next-day delivery (and removal) meant we got what we wanted for less than we originally budgeted. Because we got to try them out, it also saved us the hassle of testing and shipping back different mattresses from internet-only vendors. We were very happy with our shopping experience, and spent less than we anticipated. The delivery crew arrived early the next morning, quickly removed the old bed (topper, mattress, box spring, and frame), and had the new adjustable base & mattress set up in minutes. They were very quick and courteous, making sure to be careful while moving everything. I'm glad we checked this location out, as I was not looking forward to shopping the usual mattress stores. The Hassleless Mattress sales model works out well for us, and I'd highly recommend it to anyone else who might like the low-pressure no salesperson option for mattress shopping.

The contract is full of penalties for the customer if we are not at home when they deliver. They promised delivery on the 11th. It's now the 24th, and no one has called us, no updates, no explanation. It seems they can delay as long as they want and break their commitments, while we are expected to sit at home and wait for weeks. On top of that, if we leave and miss their random delivery attempt, we risk getting fined - even though they already missed their promised date by two weeks. This is unacceptable. Payment should only be collected upon delivery, not in advance for this "great" furniture shop ! Never again with this store, and I would not recommend it to anyone !!!

However, "Taylor" did not return my call. I then stopped by their location in Skokie. They had the chair. The sign said $1650 was the price. But when the salesman rang it up, the price had jumped to $1730. A supervisor I called at the corporate level could not explain the difference. Then a customer service woman called me to say they quoted a chair with lumbar support. I did not ask for this extra feature. I was not told the sale was being rung up with the add on. I could not get the store to see what the problem was here. So I will not be buying from Penny Mustard. If you are buying there, double-check the posted price versus what is rung up. Something is definitely off with their selling practices In my opinion.

I worked with Bob Palka, sales manager... and he was awesome! He hooked me up with a Simmons Beauty Rest and I'm sleeping like a baby now. These guys have their own delivery drivers - not subcontracted - which is important if you don't want to get talked out of refusing a delivery after having holes cut in your old mattress (Steinhafel's in VH... stay away from them!). American Mattress has a great return/exchange program and Bob is a solid sales guy who cares about his customers. Go see Bob!!!

My request for a refund was processed immediately upon request. This experience resembled a ponzi scheme whereby my payment was being used to pay down prior expenses and the factory simply was not delivering new goods. American Mattress has apparently already gone through reorganization and the retail landscape is littered with their closed stores. It is unfortunate because I liked the product I chose and found the salesperson knowledgeable. But my recommendation is buyer beware.

The salesman kept wanting to "educate" us on the different selections and I explained I would probably have more questions after browsing a bit. He asked me to take off my coat and get comfortable/lay on the beds to which I said, "no", and that I would find a few I liked and then compare them to one another/ask questions/etc. He refused to let me walk through the store and was taking deep breaths/closing his eyes like he was trying to maintain his composure. I simply wanted to browse the selection before coming to him with questions, but he was following me around basically telling me that I needed to ask him questions to get "educated" on the selection. I began to feel a bit uncomfortable (and it takes a LOT for that to happen) and, for the first time in my life, I walked out of a store due to the creepy, extremely pushy/aggressive treatment. I understand retail as a business and the current state of brick & mortar stores, but this type of behavior is enough to make a potential customer *not* want to purchase from your location (or from your chain of stores in general). This employee is obviously unstable, but, in the end, it reflects poorly on Mattress Firm as a whole. Andra Kossy is the best salesperson ever, and the manager, Mike, doesn't short-stop anything. In August 2026, I went to check out a dining room table and chairs that I had seen online. The moment I stepped onto the showroom floor, I was instantly mesmerized. They had an awesome sale going, and I ended up spending approximately 14 hours shopping over two days! My salesperson, Andra, was super patient and extremely accommodating. In the end, I gleefully purchased 15 superb pieces of furniture, which they delivered to Wisconsin for a reasonable extra fee. The delivery and setup by Brandon and Guillermo were absolutely perfect. I originally went back to Dania because I never forgot my first experience there. Back in 2008, I was living in Oak Park, IL, had just sold my house, and wanted new furniture. A friend spoke very highly of them, so off I went. Their customer service was excellent, and the furniture was high-quality and reasonably priced. To make matters even better, their delivery and setup were awesome. I was so pleased that I never forgot the experience--in fact, I still have the bedroom set and bookcases I purchased back then! Fast-forward to August 2026: now living in Wisconsin, I recently purchased a condo and needed a dining room table and chairs. I looked locally, but all I could think about was Dania.
