I came to this store Labor Day weekend with my hubby and parents looking to get some information…read moreabout mattresses and you know what they say is true, you really can tell how it's gonna play out after the first 15 seconds. First impression is everything, and our impression was this place has a salesman that gives me the experience like I'm at a car dealership: uncomfortable, awkwardness, rude service, all of that. Here's how it went down: This is the 1st time that we're buying our bedding so of course, we did not know anything about the different types of mattresses. So we walked in and the place was kind of empty on a Sunday afternoon. Right away, a heavier-set salesman approached us. When I said that we're looking to purchase a mattress in a few weeks but before that we want to get familiar with the products and we're looking to be educated on their offerings, he already looked distressed. The salesman then look at me for what seems to be like 15 long seconds, not saying anything, but just looked at me and my husband. So awkward! Then, after what seems like forever, I just said "Well, okay.. or you know what, it's fine. I can just walk around and figure it out and show myself around". Then, he finally blinked and said that oh he can help, he just wasn't sure what I was looking for! Um. gee.. I don't know, that's why I'm here thinking you would be able to help me! I really honestly wanted to walk our right then but I thought since we're already here, I should give this place a chance at least. But things didn't get better. When we were walking around and looking at the mattresses, it felt awkward the ENTIRE time! First, he followed us around, which I can tolerate but then I felt like he was being snarky, he said little things here and there that was just off-putting and quite frankly rude. It was all in his tone and delivery, which really sucked. Like when he asked "so where do you guys live?" So I just said "oh about 10 minutes away". He then smirk and said "that's very vague" but it was in this really sarcastic tone that kind of turned me off. I was thinking, it does not matter where I live. I don't know you, there is no reason I need to tell you where I live, and I don't want to tell you now that you're being nosey and kind of rude. Then when whenever we asked him questions, he sounded and looked uninterested, gave me short answers and he looked at his watch as if to keep an eye on the time. So I got the hint and said, "you know we'll just be looking around.." but he wouldn't leave us alone. Then during one point, he said sternly "Excuse me" and just left to go help another couple. I was actually relieved but not for long because he came back shortly after that. When I started wandering more around he would follow, but whenever I asked a question, he gave very short answers, without being really interested in explaining things. So I was thinking, OK, I'm going to just help myself since it's such a CHORE for this guy to be here. But what got me really annoyed was when he said "Do you guys even need my help? I feel like you guys all have your backs to me." He said that to me, my hubby and parents. OMG. What, he is criticizing us now on how we were wandering around? Dude, we were trying out the beds, of course we're all going to be all over the place, and it's not our fault you choose to stand behind us all the time!! But I nicely said to him "We're fine now, I think we're just going to show ourselves around so feel free to do your thing." Then the guy said "Well, I actually have to talk to you guys, I don't have choice." Say what??? I was so pissed at the point but my parents waved me to the next area to try on other beds so I went, and again he followed! And when we got to a mattress that had a cooling feature, he said "you know, on a hot day like this when everyone's all sticky and irritated and have an attitude like me or you, this mattress will help keep that cool for when you sleep". Oh that's not all, finally here's a kicker. My hubby and I laid down on one other bed and my husband asked me "so how is it, do you have anything to complain about on this one?" just casually. But then the sales laughed and said to my husband, "Oh... I bet she has a lot to complain about"... Are you serious?? TOTALLY UNPROFESSIONAL. TOTALLY RUDE AND TOTALLY NOT GOING TO EARN MY BUSINESS! If I really wanted to, I could call out the manager and complain that I felt he was being sexist towards me. Needless to say we did not get our mattress from here today and I won't be coming back. We left and I still said "thank you" and the guy didn't even say anything back now that he was busy with a new customer. If I'm going to drop thousands of dollars on a product, I expect better service than this which is probably the most uncomfortable experience I've had when they're a family-owned store too.

Him: sorry sir, it won't fit up the stairs.. Me: What do you mean? Of course it will! Him: No sir, it won't go. Me: Umm... there's a king size Verlo mattress up there right now.. (...looks at me...) Him: OK, let's go look....... Yep, that's the same size, how did they... Me: I can help! So I help lift and push,, and my new Verlo Kingsize replaces my 20 year old king size 10 minutes later. Nice! We've been ready for a new bed for a couple of years, it's hard to believe that we had the old one for so long and it stayed comfortable. I attribute that to my wife's absolute dedication to making sure I regularly flip the mattress. So the newer style non-flippable beds? Just not interested, (well, I was VERY interested in not doing any more flipping, but I also want a quality bed that will last) Bought a new mattress cover, some new pillows and we are all set. See you in another 20 Verlo! -

When my order arrived, it only contained covers for standard seats, rendering the storage seats/ottomans overpriced footrests. The first time I called the store to address the issue, "Bill" took my information and said a store manager would call me back in the morning. An hour later, I received a voicemail from Bill stating "I just realized that when the storage seat is being used as a seat not as an ottoman it's a standard seat cover that goes on it. It's only different if it's used as an ottoman and then it would be a different cover, so you're fine with the standard seat cover." I paid extra for storage seats/ottomans so that I could use them for storage, not so that I could have heavier than usual seat bases that cost more. Also, no manager ever called me back. I called the store today, and was informed by "Manny" that I would have to pay more for storage seat covers because they cost more than standard seat covers. I refuse to pay for employee error on a nearly $8k purchase. Thoroughly unimpressed.
