We have come to love St. Augustine Florida. One our first visit here we found this bakery as it…read morewas near the house we rented. During that initial stay, I walked here a couple of times to pick up treats and they didn't disappoint. Since then it has become a go-to when we have guests visiting and want to have dessert on hand. It is a pretty interior space with desserts and treats galore. They are beautifully made and a treat for all your senses. The staff on my visits have always been so friendly and helpful. (I love the southern hospitality we experience at so many places in St. Augustine.) My favorite treat may just be the cannoli. They are smaller sized than what I am used to back home...but this is good thing! in my opinion. There are an assortment of chocolates, brownies, cookies, some candies, croissants...and a variety of cakes and pies. We are not huge sweets eaters but this place is hard to resist.

He offers a number of sensational gluten free items as well. Prices seem fair for the size and quality. I am not GF and had a butterscotch pastry with a white chocolate-like whipped cream-topping. It was fantastic! The store is beautifully displayed with delicious chocolates and pastries. We only wish offered a sipping chocolate, but then he really does offer a plentiful selection. This MUST be on your wish list when you go to St. Augustine!!

The exterior is clean and simple. When you walk in, it's clean, simple, and a bit Chip and Joanna-esque, which I love. I was quickly greeted and told I could sit anywhere. I was given a menu and their drink menu. After being off coffee for a week, I saw that they make their own coffee syrups, so I got an iced decaf almond milk latte with their salted caramel syrup. While I waited, I looked over the menu. I really wanted to try the french toast or the waffle, but opted for the bacon, egg, and cheese on a croissant and cup of their cheese grits. The latte came out quickly and tasted exquisite. Sometimes you get decaf and it tastes watery, but not this latte. My friend ordered a salad with grilled chicken on top. Everythign came out quickly. The first thing I noticed were the cheese grits. They were delicious. Rich, creamy, and flavorful. Get them. The bacon egg and cheese on a croissant was also really good. They sell coffee at their shop to bring home.

It was just after noon on a Friday when we arrived and there was a 10-minute wait for a table. Upon being seated, we were presented the menu. We both considered ordering the Reuben Sandwich but I opted instead for the Club Sandwich on Ciabatta (as recommended by our server) and a side of Seafood Chowder. We both just ordered water with a slice of lemon to drink. Our server eventually came back with my wife's Reuben sandwich served with a bag of chips and she also had my cup of chowder, commenting how the club sandwich will be served shortly. My wife liked her Reuben, with tender meat and sharp sauerkraut. She also liked how the rye bread held up to the strong flavors. My chowder was equally good but it wasn't served with crackers. We waited a while for our server to return so I could ask for some crackers but she went ghost on us. Finally, more than 10 minutes after my wife was served her sandwich, a gentleman, who we can only assume was the manager, came over to ask if I've been served my club sandwich. Of course I pointed to a clean table to indicate no sighting of my sandwich and I also asked for some crackers. A few minutes later, the same man came back with some crackers and apologized for a mix up in the back. That's when I told them to forget the club sandwich so we can be on our way. To the manager's credit, he had the club sandwich boxed up and gave it to me free of charge. He was very apologetic. I was still a bit miffed and thought about leaving the sandwich there but my wife convinced me otherwise. Needless to say, service wasn't at the forefront during that dining experience. Despite the service mix up, however, I was still inclined to give this place 4 stars for the taste and quality of the food. The staff can have some inconsistencies and I tend to believe that's not the norm for this establishment which has earned high marks on Yelp.
