Hat Yai is a spectacular place to visit with a group - servings are medium sized, so sharing as many different menu items as possible is a real treat. The spice levels are, for me, pretty much perfect. There's lots of flavor without anything being painful. It's not a huge space, so their order-at-the-counter arrangement works beautifully for cutting down the amount of time spent sitting at tables with nothing to do. Service did take a little bit to give us our food after we sat down, but not too crazy of a wait. I got the southern pad Thai and didn't like it to be entirely honest.
