With so much thai food options in Portland, it's hard to rank places but I'd say it's in my top 5 Thai since they've got some other offerings besides your classic Thai menu. - Spicy Basil chicken wings: not much spice or basil and a bit of unpleasant meat flavor, subpar I'd say. - Boat noodle soup: good cuts of brisket/tendon & meatball but the broth was too sweet and too much of some spice (maybe coriander or anise). - Creamy Tom Yum w/ pork belly: was my favorite. The pork belly was more like Chinese bbq pork slices if you know what I mean but still quite good. They also have some nice table side condiments to spice up your dishes like pickled peppers and chili oil. The inside is really cool too w/ deco made out of like old munitions crates and street signs and they have some upstairs seating too. In the summer they can open the front of the restaurant and it's open air. read more

i really loved this place the last time i came but i was pretty disappointed this time. we came at noon so we were the first people inside. our food came out super quickly -- way faster than i anticipated. this sounds like a good thing, but i think there could've been more attention to detail because some of the food didn't live up to my expectations. the khao soi was amazing just like last time. the meat was sooo tender and fell right off the bone. the broth was just right and i loved the texture of the noodle. the next dish was guay tiew tom kha which was good except the noodles were all very short. i think they were undercooked because they just fell apart :( the pad see ew was a bit more on the bland side and pretty pale in color. the crab fried rice had no flavor in comparison to the noodle dishes. i really loved this place so i'm sad that some of the dishes fell flat. please fix this!! would love to come back when they improve read more

Great portions and pricing. Lots of authentic Thai dishes offerings. Super friendly and polite staff. I ordered the khao soi gai and thai iced tea with grass jelly. I wanted to order something different and I loved there were pictures for every dish on the menu. We are a visual eater! It was actually my second time trying this dish, but first time at this spot. The curry itself was flavorful but I added more spice to my liking. There was a huge chicken leg in my bowl. I liked the egg noodles. My cousin and her husband ordered the ba mhee haeng puuu & mhoo dang (dry) and curry puff. They enjoyed the curry puff! We would have preferred if there was a side broth for the ba mhee haeng puuu. Amazing authentic thai food. On the top of my list for Thai food, I went with a group of friends and tried a variety of their dishes. Everything was very flavorful and well done, plenty of options for everyone. My favorite was the fried fish and their table side toppings/sauces were a great addition. Spring into summer with supper at Mee Sen courtyard is PDX pleasure. The ambience inside is also quirky unique, definitely a lot to look at for a Thai spot. It has been a while since I've eaten at Mee Sen, and I thought my dining experience was mid. The thai ice tea with grass jelly ($7) was delicious, but I was disappointed because the grass jelly lacked flavor. In fact, the grass jelly was bland, simply like flavorless jello. The pad kee mao was a bit salty from my perspective and needed extra spice, but they provide different options for hot sauce. The sauce for the larb jae was a bit too sour for me. Otherwise, the food came out quickly even when we submitted to-go orders. And, I like the decorations inside the restaurant. This place is amazing. We came across it while exploring on Saturday and pursuing the shops of Mississippi. We shared the shrimp shumai, crab wonton, curry puffs, potstickers, and Ba Mee Haeng Puu & Mhoo Dang. Everything was delicious, staff were friendly and great about checking in. We were headed to The Siren and wanted to eat first. Spotted Mee Sen across the street and decided on the spot To give it a go. So glad we did. As we sipped out Thai tea with bourbon (Rika) and waited for our Po Pia Tod and Shumai, we congratulated ourselves on picking a winner. Entrees are $14.00 to $21.00 USD. - Tamarind margarita ($13.00 USD) - decent - Curry puff ($10.00 USD) - three small puffs - Peek gai tod ($15.00 USD for 10) - good sized chicken wings. Opted for the spicy basil sauce - Somtum puu ($15.00 USD) - good portion. Green papaya salad was light and refreshing - Guay tiew tom kha ($16.00 USD) - coconut soup was serviceable. Ground pork was tasty - Panang moo ($15.00 USD) - curry was solid. Good portion of pork, comes with a bowl of rice - Mhee krob rad nah ($15.00 USD) - same sweet gravy sauce that you get at Chinese restaurants. For Appetizers, wrapped prawns which crispy fried wontons with prawns and ground chicken are just yummy!!! If you think papaya salad is hot, that's the American version. The authentic Thai has no chilies. When you order Somtum Thai, ask for no chilies!!! Another dish that will surprise you is the Thai omelette with minced pork and scallions and comes with either shrimp, chicken or tofu. This dish come with the real Thai Sriracha. Parking was a bit difficult to find here as the street is very tight, so we all had to drive around for a bit and eventually found a spot in the neighborhoods. If you're coming here with friends, I highly recommend to carpool if you can! The inside of the place is very cute and there's upstairs and downstairs dining. I was tempted to go here after hearing that they offer many Thai dishes (such as street foods) that you don't typically see at restaurants in Portland. We ordered: *moo ping - grilled pork *tom yum moo - pork tom yum *tom yum nam khon- creamy tom yum *cha yen - thai tea *nom yen - thai pink milk The tom yums were umami with hints of sweetness, sourness, and spicyness. Just like in Thailand. The thai tea tasted so authentic. And I was surprised that they had nom yen! If you've never had it, it's milk with sala fruit syrup - sweet and has a slight fruity/bubble gum flavor. The staff were super nice. The restaurant has indoor and outdoor seating. The peanut sauce was good! The fillings in the salad rolls were less when compared to the ones I would get from other Thai restaurants at $10, but it was still tastyyy. My noodles were bland, it lacked flavor and adding hot sauce wasn't enough to bring the flavor together. We tried this place on a sunny Saturday afternoon for lunch. It's a little easier to get reservations and the staff is very friendly and courteous. Food: We wouldn't revisit this place because of the food, we didn't like the food at all. It wasn't traditional thai food, it was influenced thai with some other flavors which we couldn't recognize. We were a big group and ordered couple of things, all the soups were really watery texture and the tom yum soup was felt like straight out of a ketchup bottle. The soups weren't thick and the remaining items like pad see ew, pad kee mao, kua gai everything was average. Portland has some really good thai places and this is definitely not there. Except for the salad rolls, everything was mediocre. Another thing what we observed was a little extra sweetness to everything but all of us felt it, maybe we aren't used to extra sweetness in food except for dessert, but that was our observation.
