Never have I felt so betrayed by Yelps rating system. I trusted this place, I trusted the reviews. This establishment has 4 stars which makes me seriously question the sample population...! The food was shameful. BBQ ribs were-literally-BOILED meat topped with barbecue sauce, and a flavorless 1/2 cobb of corn. Boyfriends jaw clenched in frustration, and when the waitress asked us how everything was he said "the only thing barbecue about these ribs are the sauce" she took zero accountability and explained that the cooks each cook the meat "different ways" ok.. but don't call it barbecue Chicken Alfredo- clearly a microwave fettuccini Alfredo with frozen chicken breast. All pumped with preservatives and not made in house. Tasted just like a Marie Calanders TV dinner. It's seriously not that hard to boil pasta and make a cream sauce... The only tool the "chef" used in the making of this dish was a microwave. This place was so bad. Of course you have to pay before the meal. BEWARE!!!! read more

Great down home lunch spot we found on our trek from Bryce. Staff were very friendly. Interior was small but extremely cozy and comfy. We ordered two grilled cheese sandwiches, grilled cheese with ham and a chicken tenders meal. All four plates were empty after we were done eating! Menu is limited... I felt a little like Joe Pesci in My Cousin Vinny in the diner scene where the only three things on the menu were breakfast, lunch and dinner. :). Definitely do not recommend. I totally understand it's a holiday weekend, but at the same time waiting 50 minutes to get 3 orders of eggs, bacon, toast, and potatoes seems a bit ridiculous! Glad we ordered eggs over medium only for them to be delivered to the table and told here are your meals, eggs over easy. How do you screw up eggs? They were just too overwhelmed and couldn't handle the business. I highly recommend if the staff, management, or owners read this that you staff up when you know the busy parts of the season are coming! Four stars for the food -- six for the service!! Food is solid but simple: we had BBQ ribs and pulled pork sandwiches, fries or onion rings on the side. Customers order at the counter in the convenience store, but there's a nice dining room next door. What makes this place outstanding is the woman who takes the orders and delivers the food: we hit this place as we rolled into town after two loooong days on the road and she gave us just the right amount of friendly helpfulness. Including recommendations for a couple other good places to eat, and hike. Gave us a map with hand-written notes on where to find good pie. This is one of the few restaurants in the area. We stayed in the cabins across the street while we were visiting the national and state parks in the area, so it was super convenient to grab food here. The ladies who work here are super friendly, and the food always came out fresh and hot. Because of COVID concerns, we ordered take out for three meals here and they were always really accommodating and packaged the food very nicely and gave us plenty of condiments to go with it. read more

Don't sleep on this spot! They have a very courteous counter person taking orders and being very cheerful and helpful with the menu. The food was very good. Steak was delicious and cooked to perfection, the steak sandwich was excellent with big pieces of ribeye and a good bun. The shoestring fries were hot and fresh, the sweet potato fries were awesome too. I recommend this spot in an area with few options, especially on Sunday. read more

When you find yourself in a dumpy hotel halfway between Hatch, UT and Panguitch, UT on a Sunday afternoon, and you are hungry, your options are SEVERELY limited. I was about ready to resign myself to going to bed on warm beer alone when I spotted this little joint on yelp and decided to give it a shot. We fired up the bikes and drove the 8 miles to Hatch, UT. There we came across a little place with all the "open" signs turned off, and we though we were screwed. I walked into an empty restaurant / convenience store with one lady standing behind the counter who assured me they were open. So my hopes were not high, but I was starving and so I walked up to the counter and ordered. The fish and chips sounded good. I paid, she handed me a bundle of silverware and told me to go find a seat. My friends did the same. And we all sat down and wondered how this would play out. The lady at the front and the lady who was cooking delivered our food and assured us it would be good, and it was. Dynamite in fact. Yeah it came on plastic plates, but who cares. It was delicious and I was blown away that this little shop run by two older ladies could feed 8 hungry bikers such great food late on a Sunday evening. the moral of the story is, don't let appearances deceive you. This is a great spot and if I ever find myself in this part of the country again, i will make it a point to stop. read more

We stopped here for dinner two nights ago. Too young men helped us. Turns out they were the owners kids. They were very responsible and kind and gave us great service. I got the ribeye and it was delicious. I asked for Cajun seasoning, and my kids got pizza. The steak was perfectly seasoned and the server offered to bring extra Cajun seasoning. Hits and misses. We went for dinner as it was walking distance from our accommodation and Hatch doesn't really have a lot of food options. No table service, you order at the counter (which is ok) and get your drinks from the attached convenience store (odd). The dining room has a train theme but isn't really like a dining car. We had the fish and chips and the steak. The fish was like the pre-formed frozen patties you get from the supermarket, but in fairness they were well cooked and tasted pretty good. The fries were ok. The steak was good and came cooked as ordered (medium rare) but was lacking seasoning. It came with corn, cornbread, and fries. The corn was so over-cooked that only a single bite could be eaten. The cornbread was ok. In the end, I'd say there are some good intentions and some wins but equally offset by misses. Then again there isn't much competition from what we saw. read more

Talk about a gem! We were driving through the area after a couple days of long hiking and saw a sign that said BBQ.... I wanted meat and we were willing to take a chance. The kitschy signs definitely helped with our choice to stop. The exterior wad anti questionable but when we went in it was cute and clean, we'll organized and very comfortable although small, maybe 15 tables, two and four tops. We reviewed the menu and each chose to order bacon cheese burgers. I must admit I expected a cookie cutter patty but when it came out I was pleasantly surprised. It was a big juicy hand shaped burger, piled high with toppings and real cheese. Not that Kraft junk. The fries were also very good fresh crispy and not greasy at all. The best part of the entire meal was when the chef and the owner came out to check that patrons were enjoying their food. He was very friendly and un-intrusive. Like I said a true gem for any one traveling through the Zion area on 89, the waitress even refilled our water bottles for us. Be sure to stop in they deserve it. read more

Maybe the best alternative for a decent dinner in Hatch. We ate here twice. First night was pretty good. Daughter had BBQ pork sandwich & fries, I had homemade vegetable beef soup and salad bar. Soup was excellent, salad bar was small but adequate, once you pick out the wilted brown bits of lettuce, but watch out for the rolls in the bun warmer--hard enough on the bottom to skip over a pond, mine tasted like it had been in there a couple of days. No alcohol is served, but they put a pitcher of ice water on your table, which was very convenient. And the cook comes out to greet you, a nice homey touch. Second night we splurged a bit, hungrier after a day of hiking in Bryce. I got the T-bone $25. It was thin and dry, though not over cooked. The veggies were over cooked, and heavy with lemon pepper. Daughter had the chicken breast, but found it so chewy and bland that she was only able to get down about half of it. She did like the rice pilaf, and the entrees are served with a fresh baked loaf of bread, a vast improvement over the rolls. Service was attentive the first night, but on the second night, when they were busier, we were completely ignored, and even had to wait 15 min, once we were done, for the check. My advice is keep it simple--stay with the hot sandwiches or salad bar, and keep your expectations down and you may be pleasantly surprised with a good meal. read more
