Dinner pickings are a bit slim out in Bryce Canyon! We finally chose Bryce Canyon Pines because it was fairly well-reviewed and 7 minutes away. We arrived about 6 and waited about 20 minutes for a very nice booth. We split a pretty good-sized house salad. It was fine. I had the trout with asparagus and sweet potato fries. Fish (lemon pepper and salt) was tasty and perfectly prepared. Asparagus was also perfectly cooked, still a bit of crunch. The fries were too limp but tasted good. My hubs ordered the ribeye. Looked so juicy and charred but was a bit tough. Flavor was great and it was a gigantic 16-oz. portion. Coffee was tasteless, unfortunately. The absolute highlight of the meal was the pie! The apple pie is the best I have ever eaten. The filling contained nice slices of apples, no mushy stuff here. And the crust was incredibly flaky with a bit of sugar baked on top. My husband ordered the cherry pie à la mode and was quite pleased with the pie and two little scoops of ice cream alongside. Nice staff too! This place is popular for a reason. It HAS to be that incredible pie. read more

Food was good (I had Elk Chili), nice clean restrooms and plenty of parking. Right on the bike trail running through Bryce City to the entrance to BCNP. read more

I don't mind waiting to sit at a restaurant when the food is good. We waited for about 20 minutes to be seated and then another 10 minutes for a server. We got a burger to split. Good portion but the beef was so overcooked, it was hard eat. I got a side of broccoli that ended up being the best part of the meal. No refills on coffee or hot water for tea. The benches were hard wood and not the most comfortable and the women's bathroom smelled like urine. We did run into somebody who said their chicken sandwich was excellent so maybe we just got the wrong thing. Not a great experience for us. read more

Nice restaurant with knotty pine interior close to Bryce. Excellent service. Very good pie. Ordered the new York steak, sweet potato fries and asparagus. Fries were great. Asparagus fresh and perfectly cooked. Steak was perfectly cooked medium rare and well seasoned. Sadly it was a 1/2 inch thick, tough and full of gristle. My fault. Not a steakhouse. I told the waitress not to suggest this item and she immediately gave me 50% off. Great service. Wife had chicken club which was wonderful with bacon and avocado on a soft fresh bun. We stopped in here at the suggestion from some people we met hiking the Figure 8 loop at Bryce Canyon. Long hard 7 mile day meant, time to carb up and cure the hanger! This place is a hotel and restaurant and looked very clean, with a pool and hot tub. The restaurant was very spacious with high booths for privacy. Our server was busy prepping food for the upcoming dinner rush, and we were ahead of the crowds at 4pm ish. We ate glad we arrived when we did, boy did it get packed with hungry hikers quick! We opted for the Chicken Fried Steak meal and the Daily Special of Brats and Potato Salad. Both were very good, the only issue was the potato salad being very vinegar heavy. Came for a light lunch after visiting Bryce Canyon. Had a side salad and green bean fries, both were good served with homemade ranch dressing. Our food arrived in a timely fashion but it took awhile to get our check. Maybe understaffed. but there was one person who was tidying up behind the counter who could have stopped that and taken care of our check. read more

Great restaurant. Staff is amazing, Anna Lee is a sweetheart. I preferred the Elk over the Western burger. If they used Elk Burger with Western toppings it would be perfect. So glad we saw this place on our way to Bryce Canyon National Park. Located very close to the park, they were busy at the time we got there but the service was fast. The tomato bisque was good, my western burger was great - highly recommended, and the chicken blt salad was also good. Server, Hallie, was super efficient and sweet. She was the only server and another lady who is probably the manager, but Hallie was fast, attentive, and sweet. I would highly recommend this place if you visit Bryce Canyon! read more

The Pines holds a special place in my heart but I hate to say the quality goes down every time I re-visit. If you're craving a reliable sandwich, hot soup, or pie à la mode, this is your spot in Bryce. Unfortunately, nothing on the menu stands out and prices are quite steep for what you get. I understand that the servers don't feel the need to cater to tourists they'll never see again, but I was not especially impressed. It's a homey, Americana restaurant but I don't feel that same atmosphere from the people who work there. I had the worst experience today at this establishment. I dared to order a well done burger which is what I like, so they wanted to teach me a lesson and served me a completely burned piece of burger that looked like a flat piece coal. I asked for another patty and the waiter yanked my entire plate away from me with sides and everything and brought me another identical plate of black coal looking charred burger 30 minutes later, after my friend already finished her meal. I couldn't believe it. I showed the waiter the charred burger and he said this is what I get if I order a well done burger. Who runs this kitchen and thinks you can't make a well done burger that isn't burnt to coal? Because I got upset the waiter told us to leave without paying. I ordered a trout and my husband a rib eye. Sides we chose was a baked potato and asparagus. Very good! Nice thick bacon with the potatoes. The trout was delicious! The ribeye a decent size. The food here is dynamite! We had the chili, a burger, hot roast beef sandwhich, and jalapeño poppers. All were delicious! Service is quick and it's really quaint on the inside. I'd also recommend it as it's out of town a bit so you won't be battling the big crowds near the park. read more

They had a really good open face turkey sandwich! Turkey was juicy and well seasoned. The kids cheeseburger was huge and actually too much for my 2 yo - not a bad thing. The fries green beans was probably one of the best I've had. The integrity of the green bean was still there, just covered in a perfect batter. The waffle Sweet potato fries was a better than the regular fries. We got there at 2 pm so it was quite slow and had great service. Stopped in for lunch today and was pleasantly surprised! The restaurant is casual, with a nice, homey feel with country music playing in the background. They even have free Wi-Fi, which is always a plus. We ordered the Chef Salad, BLT and Fish and Chips. All the entrees were generous with portion size. Everything was great, which was doubly fantastic as there isn't much else around in the area so your options are limited. The staff was friendly and attentive. Pretty awkward since they obviously can see us. After us, when people walked in, the guy did walk up to the customers to greet them, which made it feel even weirder that we were ignored. So nice to sit down in warm lands after being outside in 32 degrees weather. They were out of soups, elk meat, chili, and seasonal vegetables. Ordered the tenderloin medium rare ($39), rib eye medium rare ($37) and another one as rare and regular burger ($16) with added mushrooms ($.50) since elk burger was out of stock, hot chocolate, apricot Hefeweizen, sweet potato fries, mashed potatoes. Tenderloin came out overcooked, more like a medium well but luckily it was still tender. The rib eye medium rare was delicious but a bit overcooked so ordered another one as rare and it was perfect. Beef is locally sourced, so tender and delicious. Added on two hot loaves of bread for extra $4 each. 20% gratuity added onto check for parties of 5 or more. Good size menu with just the right amount of choices. the fried zucchini was a great starter and the turkey opened face sandwich was delicious. grilled cheese sam's chicken tenders for the kids were perfect after a mornings hiking and sight seeing. service was friendly and the pitchier of cold water was a treat coming from the canyon. Had an early 5:30ish dinner here yesterday after getting into town and checking into our hotel. My wife is always on top of our eating adventures and researched the "good" places to eat here in Bryce. So glad we had dinner early because this place was a bit packed, I believe, due to it being the week of Thanksgiving. Food was good! I enjoyed my elk burger and kinda wish I didn't get bacon since it overpowered the elk a bit. The elk was delicious. I should've just ordered 2 patties. My wife had the rainbow trout. Not the best trout I've had, but it was okay. They were a bit short staffed, hence the crowd waiting in the lobby. So kudos to our waitress, who was the only server on this Monday shift. The bartender also had to do double duty, seating us. Overall, despite the understaffing issue, we had a nice dinner. When's the next time you'd get to eat elk! We stayed at the lodge here so wanted to give it a try. It seems the parking lot is full everyday and quite popular amount the local and tourists We came at lunch time, there were a lot of people at the waiting room and no one at the desk, it took a while for someone to take names down. The wait is a bit slow to be seated. As soon as we were seated there was a jar of water but were not given the glasses to drink it. The lunch menu is a little small, burgers salad and sandwiches, nothing really fancy. After days of burger I decided to try their fish and chips instead. I was a bit disappointed with the fish, they are very small size it's more like a fish finger for kids size, not enough for a meal. The sweet potato fries are pretty decent, crispy and fresh. The service is a bit slow, there are not many people running the floor, so they have been running around taking people order, delivery food and at the same time clean table and seat table too. read more
