Drunken Leprechaun (St. Patrick's Day special)

I can finally say I've been to hatch'd and I get the hype! This was our third attempt at brunch over a couple of years, but it is worth the wait. If you plan to go on a nice Saturday during a holiday weekend, consider joining the online waitlist about 90 minutes beforehand. As you might expect from the warning, hatch'd feels crowded when you first walk in (the host stand and bar seats just a few steps from the front door), but it has a historic South City charm once you move toward your seat. We were lucky enough to be seated on the second floor with exposed brick walls and ample table space for our group of four. As lively and active as hatch'd was, service was impressively prompt. The space between drinks and food was appreciated, as there's a lot of menu to explore. Something stands out for every palate, and even more for anyone as indecisive as me. Besides my regular black coffee (a breakfast requirement), I tried the Revolver, hatch'd's bourbon-and-Kahlua Old Fashioned. The coffee is a nice medium strength - not too bitter and great for refills, exactly what I want with breakfast; the Revolver was a delicious revelation (I guess I shouldn't be surprised that two of my personal favorites blend like chocolate and peanut butter). I landed on the Pikes Market omlette (with carmelized onions in place of red) and a side of Texican loaded hash rounds (topped with grilled jalapeno, onion, queso, pico de gallo, and cilantro). So much to appreciate on one plate: tender smoked salmon, salty feta, sweet caramelized onion, and crispy tots straight from the kithcen. Hatch'd served up a reminder why I rarely pass up breakfast food on any menu. My wife ordered the Drunken Leprechaun (a St. Patrick's Day-themed Blue Hawaiian) and Strawberry Basil French Toast. I personally prefer savory breakfast food (I'll always order an omlette over pancakes when given the choice), but the toast was very good and recommended if you prefer a sweeter meal to start the day. As busy as hatch'd was (and I imagine always is), we walked into the heart of the rush. After about 20 minutes or so, it was much easier for our group to hear and hold conversations. I feel comfortable speaking on behalf of everyone when I say we left pleasantly full and thinking about what's worth a try next time.

Just had breakfast at Hatch'd for the second time in a few months. We had Patrick as our server both times. He always takes care of us, does a fabulous job checking in, clearing the table and helping me put together a meal when I don't know exactly what to order. This is really appreciated especially since they were really busy today. The food was hot and fresh, the pancake wasn't t my vibe, more flat, a tinge sweeter than I like but still descent.the hash browns were cooked perfectly and some of the best I've had. The basil mint lemonade is really good. It's fresh and tasty. The grits are nice and creamy. I tried the pork belly which is smoked fresh. It was tender, a little salty, but flavorful. Unfortunately they don't have bbq sauce and the portion was a bit smaller than expected. That said. We look forward to going back!

This place has been on my list of places to try. I finally got the chance to go. My friend and I came here on our off day from work. We were able to get in right away and get seated. We sat at a high top table near the bar. This is a small restaurant that can be crowded during peak hours. If you go early in the morning, you should be able to get in without a wait. I ordered a sweet Sarah Mimosa and the strawberry basil French toast w/ a side of bacon and eggs. The food was absolutely phenomenal. The French toast weren't overly sweet, they had a slight crunch, all while still being soft and fluffy. The syrup wasn't overly sweet, and was nice and warm. The eggs were cooked to my liking (scrambled with cheese) and the bacon was nice and crispy, not salty. The sweet Sarah mimosa was flavorful with the perfect ratio of strawberry to champagne. Service was excellent. Our server gave us the perfect amount of time to browse the menu, got our drink and food orders in,and checked on us periodically. Pricing was reasonable. Parking can be a hassle as it's street parking. The residential areas fill up quickly and Main Street parking can be a hazard.

Great service as always! We love going here for special occasions or when, as in this case, family is visiting from out of town. We made our reservations through Yelp and everything went quickly and smoothly from there. Food was delicious and generous. Drinks were wonderful as well!

Truly the best breakfast experience we have ever had - we were seated quickly and out waitress was so friendly and helpful with my son's food allergies. The food was amazing - my husband got a skillet with grits and was impressed. It is super kid friendly with books in a basket by the entrance and someone came over with a horseshoe puzzle game which kept my eight year old occupied while we waited for our food. Such a cute space with lots of natural light and the nicest staff we have encountered on our trip so far! My croissant breakfast sandwich was perfect.

The best breakfast burrito I've ever had- probably my new favorite brunch! I came here for a birthday meal with friends during the holidays, so it was a bit crowded. However, we checked in on the waitlist on our way over, and we only had to wait about 5 minutes to be seated. (Given that the app told me we were 17th in line initially, I was worried it might take much longer.) The hostesses were very friendly and gave us an accurate estimate of the time it would take. We didn't even end up waiting long enough to order drinks at the bar, which would have been a great option had we been waiting longer. The food here is outstanding. There are so many choices, all with creative names ;) Our table ordered four different dishes, and everyone was satisfied! They all loved the Mary Moon, Bizzle & Grizzle, and Benny's Got Beef. My California King burrito was amazing- perfectly done scrambled eggs inside, bacon, hash browns smothered in queso, topped with their own fresh pico de gallo. I couldn't even finish the whole thing, and my husband loved the leftovers. Add bottomless mimosas, and your morning is made! I love the cozy local hole-in-the-wall vibes, with unique mugs all around. It all felt very authentic and homey. Parking is not easy here, but it helps to know that going in. Be prepared to circle the block a time or two for street parking. I promise it's worth it!

Solid breakfast dishes! I'm not a fan of the pancakes. They aren't fluffy and weirdly difficult to cut. The taste isn't bad but ehh. Their omelette and skillets are the way to go. Our waiter was nice but our food took well over 30 minutes to come out. This restaurant utilized the yelp waitlist which REALLY helps with timing and waiting at the restaurant. The waiting area is about 6 seats right at the door so knowing exactly how long and when to check in is a plus!

Very busy place on a Sunday brunch. Waiting list instead of reservations and keep you informed about your wait and time you can expect to be seated. Nice menu choices. Not overly unique but interesting plates and old standbys. Service was attentive , at first, but had a hard time following through with orders( two people in our party needed faster service than the rest of the group, ok'd, but dishes came out about the same time as the rest of our party). Quite a big place with upstairs seating. Comfy atmosphere.

Hatch'd has quickly become my go-to brunch spot in the city. The food has creative names, delicious combinations, and is always served hot and fresh. Be prepared to wait on a table, as they get crowded on the weekends. But it's well worth the wait. Enjoy checking out all the various coffee mugs as decor. The staff are also friendly and will gladly share recommendations. Special shout-out to Josh and Mia for making our anniversary outing extra special. Pro tip: Order an omelette and sub your toast for a flavored pancake.

This place is a definite come back again! The customer service is amazing! We had Jordan as our server and his service was 10/10. To be honest the entire staff was excellent! The food was fantastic! The blueberry lemon pancake was great my kids had a smore waffle that was packed with flavor! The champagne pear pancake was delicious! It's a small intimate space where if you wanted you can talk to your table neighbor but provide the privacy if you needed it . They were showing old tv shows that provide nostalgia while eating ! ( price as right with bob barker was playing) all around it was a fantastic visit.

We were overdue for a visit from the Illinois side. We had a small wait when we arrived, whi h we are always excited to see, because we know they are doing it right! We were sat quickly though. Again we love the artsy vibe here as I have said before. Service was fabulous as always. Josh came out and talked to us for a bit as well. They are so friendly here and truly take the time to get to know their customers no matter how busy they are! Food is delicious. My husband got the same thing as always the Nachostada. It is his absolute favorite. I went and tried something new. The Pastraomlette was awesome. It was loaded with meat and so good! Can't wait to go again

Quoted half an hour. Waited 35 minutes. Saw was still 24th in wait line. Went to ask and yes, was told, that due to "online reservations" our table kept being pushed back and we could wait another hour to hour and a half. We ended up leaving-we were so hungry and the wait wasn't worth it. The owner, however, was quite kind in response to the issue after contacted. He expressed an apology that seemed truly empathetic and genuine, which I truly appreciate. I may return and try the food, and can amend my review. read more

We heard that this is the go-to brunch spot in St. Louis and folks weren't lying! We checked in on Yelp and quickly got a seat at the bar. The iced coffee was fantastic! Breakfast is the most important meal of the day. Expect a wait on the weekends, but the wait is worth it. Generous portions, reasonable prices, great customer service, and neighborhood atmosphere. This is by far our favorite breakfast spot. The service is great, staff is super friendly and food is always phenomenal every time we come. The one thing that really sets this place above the rest is the owner. He walks around to every single table to ask how the food is and is always helping the servers take care of tables. And he does that every time we've come in. It's just that extra personal touch that not a lot of other restaurants do these days and it's appreciated and does not go unnoticed! read more

We were so thrilled when Hatch'd opened in our neighborhood! It was just what the area needed, and it's definitely our favorite breakfast place to support. Today we had the Let Freedom Ring off the breakfast menu and the The Big Mac'd Attack off the lunch menu! My husband devoured his Let Freedom Ring and I really enjoyed how unique the The Big Mac'd Attack was! The service is always incredible too- we forgot they close at 1:30 and we got there right at 1 and we were signing the bill after eating by 1:20!!!! Incredible. I also love how cute the inside of the building is and how they use little thrifted cups for their coffee mugs. read more

The owners are amazing people. Very personable and care about their product. They put out an amazing assortment of great quality food. I had the eggs benedict with beef brisket. I believe it was called Bob's brisket breakfast? Maybe? Anyway it was absolutely delicious. Work the midnight shift and they were super accommodating for six of us. Again can't say enough about the owners and their personal touch on the food as well as the patrons. A must try establishment. read more

First time visiting Hatch'd and definitely will be returning again! From the eclectic, rustic atmosphere and decor to the amazing food selection, it is now one of my favorite brunch spots in the area. They allow you to join a waitlist ahead of time which is super convenient on busy weekends. The service was prompt and everyone I interacted with was very friendly. I had the pastrami hash. The corned beef was smoked to perfection and paired very nicely with the peppers, onions, Swiss cheese, and don't pass on the mustard. To drink I had a Gringo in Paris that was super delicious: tequila sunrise meets mimosa. Highly recommend! read more

Was in St. Louis visiting family on Tuesday and we decided to give this joint a try. There were ten of us and we weren't sure they would be able to accommodate a party of this size after we walked in and saw the place, but they managed to get us a table set up in just a few minutes. The service was great and the staff were super friendly. After struggling to pick from the menu because of how many things sounded so good, I decided on the Eggmund Dantes. The strawberry compote wasn't very sweet when I tried it before I put it on the sandwich, which had me a bit worried, but when it came together with the lightly powdered french toast, ham and egg, it was perfectly balanced. It was awesome. Everyone with me really enjoyed their food as well. I will definitely be back next time I'm in town. Highly recommend for breakfast or brunch. The old school GI Joe cartoons on the tv I could see was a nice touch, too. read more

Wife and I have been wanting to try Hatch'd for a while but due to their limited day hours and super busy weekends it took a while to finally make it happen. The wife had one of her rare week day's off that didn't involve her dragging me everywhere but somewhere I wanted to be lol. I suggested we finally go to Hatch'd and try out their breakfast menu. We are both big fans of breakfast and brunch establishments and wasn't disappointed with Hatch'd. The wife ordered the Cardinal and I got the Paulie's Pastrami Hash. Both are under the Home Skilletz selections. Both were fantastic and service was good. They get busy so you have to be the patient kind of customer! Hatch'd is geared towards adults so I don't think little kids will like it much...hint. I was feeling kind of naughty so got a shot of Jameson whiskey to make my cup of java Irish. Our overall experience was great and the staff (Kim!) were very nice with good humor. The owner Josh is a hands on type and was always going around checking on customers and acknowledging regulars. The inside of the establishment is much bigger than it appears from outside and the dining area was clean with nice decor, which is one of my big sticklers for first time dining experiences. So, if you like breakfast brunch type eateries, I do recommend Hatch'd. Wife and I both agreed we will be returning there to try another one of their delicious morsels...can't wait. read more

Hatch'd is WORTH THE WAIT!! Be patient as they get a table cleared for you or get there as soon as they open! Manager is heavily-involved with customer satisfaction and frequently checks on tables. I couldn't be more pleased with a brunch restaurant. I ordered a coffee and a "California King" and it was filled with cheese/eggs/ham/ and yes, French fries. My wife ordered the Mary Moon skillet with chicken sausage and it was delicious. The staff is very fast-paced but very attentive and responsive. The bar was a quick decision to grab a couple of seats as we were looking at an hour wait so we jumped on a couple chairs as soon as they were open! I would love to come back and explore the menu a little bit more.. the lady next to us received the Fat Elvis Pancakes and WOW it looked so good, but that was right after we placed our orders. I don't think they have a dish that I wouldn't thoroughly enjoy! Interior is a little tight but there is enough room for everyone to grab and seat and be served. read more

Excellent breakfast as always. Went day after Memorial Day, never seen it that busy. Might be time to turn the waitlist on, summer is starting off with a bang. Still struggling with enough waitstaff, as all restaurants are. Fortunately everyone was very patient and nice while we were there. Lob this place!!!! read more

Adorable restaurant on the corner with a large lot across the street for parking. We came for breakfast and I thought it was adorable that every table is Pre set with a coffee cup that is unique. The menu is hilarious and also huge and varied. Lots of little joking names that we had a good laugh over. We ordered a skillet and the breakfast special and both really enjoyed our breakfast. We were a quick in and out but prices are reasonable and the food was good so if I was a local, I'd be here often. read more

Everything about this place is just a little better than it has to be. The coffee is delightful. The entire staff is beyond friendly -- they seem genuinely excited to see you, and treat you like an old friend. The space itself is charming and comfortable. How can these omelettes be so much better than all the other omelettes out there? I've eaten a lot of eggs, but the dishes at Hatch'd somehow seem totally different and better than other breakfast. The hash browns are out of this world, too. Everything about this place rules. It makes me wish I didn't give out so many 5-star reviews to other restaurants, because this one is truly in a league of its own. Went here for brunch and it was pretty good! The place is cozy (small) yet gives off a southern hospitality vibe with its different mugs they place at every table and the seating arrangements. The servers were so nice and the owner is so informed and seemed to really enjoy his job. The pancakes are huge! The egg whites are fluffy and flavorful, the waffles are fluffy on the inside with crispy edges. Moral of the story, the food is okay, the vibes are good, and the staff is excellent taking care of their customers and meeting their dining needs. However, if you are particular about your food, be sure to check for warmth of it. Some of the food could've been hotter temperature wise for my tag along. But other than that, it's a great brunch place for being open only 9 months prior. read more

I am from Massachusetts. After searching around, this is the best breakfast place I've found in St. Louis! The staff is absolutely amazing and showed the utmost hospitality. Just when you think the Southside's food scene can't get any better... Hatch'd happen! I ordered the Pastramolette, and it was a 10/10. The hashbrowns were delicious, and so was the English muffin. Redemption!!! Hatch'd STL has officially earned a redemption review from me! What keeps bringing me back is the consistency. We were fortunate enough to have Patrick as our waiter again, and his customer service was even better this visit, not because it was bad before, but because he wasn't stretched thin. Looking back, Mother's Day is a tough day for any restaurant, and it was clear this visit allowed him to provide the attentive, friendly service I remembered Hatch'd giving customers. The food arrived quickly, was fresh, and most importantly, it was absolutely delicious. The flavors, quality, and portion sizes continue to impress me every time I visit. Honestly, I probably shouldn't come here as often as I do, because it's definitely comfort food, but good food is good food, and Hatched STL has really good food. Between the great customer service, timely food, and consistently delicious meals, it's easy to see why this place stays on my list. This is one of the breakfast spots in St. Louis. The biggest piece of advice is to get on the waitlist early. Their waitlist online is pretty accurate on when you need to show up for a table. Sometimes there are waits up to two hours because this place is the real deal. Once you get seated, food comes out pretty quick and there's great service. Be sure to say hello to the owner, Josh, who is super friendly and will take care of any of your needs or be there for a friendly conversation. As far as food, you can't go wrong with anything here. They always have a monthly special so be sure to ask about that. My favorite is the breakfast quesadilla, or "tresidilla" as they call it. Everything I've had, and I have been here 15+ times, has been consistent and good. They have a great array of drinks as well. The ambiance in the breakfast/brunch joint is neat. There were 2 bartenders they were as nice as could be . I told the one whose name is Jasmine I would hurry up to order because I overheard another customer say they close at 1:30. I love coming to breakfast/brunch here. First of all, it is an old corner bar on the south side of St Louis and still as the original (or at least it seems original) bar which is huge. If you get seated upstairs, the staircase is reminiscent of old buildings...it is probably a good 6 feet in diameter. The food and drinks have fun names associated with them - I think I had something with Kardashian in it but I cannot find it on the online menu. And the pancakes, chicken & Waffles are all delicious. Mother's Day breakfast was great! We got on the list at 7:30 and got in at 8:30am. We were 10 minutes late and they even held our table. We were seated immediately and had an amazing and quick. At the end of our meal the waitress asked my son to give something special to mom and she brought out two red long stem roses and handed one to each of my boys and had them give it to my mom and myself. My experience was delightful, tasty, and class. My friends and I are going across the country and St. Louis was our first stop. We awoke bright and early and Hatch'd had our backs. The atmosphere was genial and cozy, allowing for a slice of back home, a perfect place for respite on an arduous journey. My husband and I are from KC, in town for the weekend and wanted to find a breakfast spot that was local to the community. This place was by far the best breakfast spot we've visited! The space was well decorated, food was incredible and our server Bradly G was phenomenal! Excellent service and food! We will definitely visit again when we're in town. Excellent food and great service! The atmosphere is welcoming also, very nicely decorated. The owner was also incredibly kind and mailed my credit card as I left it after paying and we were visiting from out of state. You don't get that kind of above and beyond service (when it was my faux pas to being with!) much these days. If ever in the area, we will dine there again without a doubt! read more

The food selection was delicious and the wait staff was knowledgeable and kind. My friend has celiac and cannot eat where there may be gluten cross contamination and this restaurant is beautifully accommodating of her allergy while also being friendly and helpful. GREAT place and you can join the waitlist online (definitely recommend on a sunday brunch day, wait is CRAZY) read more
