What I liked about Hatfield Creek Winery in Ramona is it has a large amount of indoor and outdoor seating. They have some games on hand for playing, such as dominoes to keep you occupied while you sip. There's also a small family museum attached that you can wander around for 5-10 minutes that includes a vintage car on display. Adults 21+ only (all wineries should be this way!) We had the pleasure of celebrating our engagement party at Elaine's lovely winery in Ramona. The setting was both intimate, but spacious enough to accommodate 50-60 people. The venue already includes tables and chairs for guests and food tables for our food that we brought in. Their wine selection is aplenty ranging from red wines, white wines and even sangrias! My favorite white wine was the Viognier (: the ambiance itself was both secluded and private with a very rustic winery vibe. Just the theme we were going for anyways to celebrate our engagement party. Elaine and her staff were both friendly and flexible with our requests and easily clarified and rectified possible issues that came up and touched base with any guests regarding their own personal issues as well. While attending a event with my wife and her family I had a less then pleasant experience. During the engagement party with a "open bar" on my 3rd trip for a refill the bartender told me... "This is your 3rd glass, 4 is a bottle, you might want to pace yourself." I'm 43 yrs old and I can drink a couple bottles without issue at home, not sure why she was questioning me as if she was my mother. Upon returning 45 minutes later for another glass (#4) with other 2 family members the bartender proceeded to fill their glasses and not mine. I asked, "may I have another" at which point she asked me, "who's driving?" I told her my wife which she knew was with me and not drinking. My wife and family that was with us al supported me that I was not acting or looking drunk. I had a nice buzz but gave no reason to instruct me to "pace myself" or questioning "who's driving". I have never had a bartended in my 43 years belittle me in such fashion. I thought her comments were rude and very uncalled for. It's a shame, I was polite to her the entire time even tho I felt she crossed the line as a bartender. Very nice property but I will not be returning. read more

Wonderful winery in Ramona, California! I had the best wine and chat with Elaine Lyttleton, winemaker, at Hatfield Creek Vineyards and Winery! She is a wealth of knowledge and makes delicious, award-winning wines. We were able to park our RV right near the vineyard and enjoyed the collection of Pacific North West First Nations Art, Love-Love Tree,and walked the meditation labyrinth. We have been here a few times and absolutely love coming here! The staff are very friendly and informative of the winery and the surrounding area. The wines are very good and they have white wine and several red wines. Talking to the owner is so informative and we could sit there for hours to hear stories she had to offer. The tasting room is awesome with neat stuff to see. There is even a fireplace inside when the weather is cold with places to sit and visit. The vineyard is open and you're able to walk through and see where the wine comes from and go through the process with the owners Norm and Elaine. And for those history buffs and interested in Navy events, there is a memorial for two Naval Aviators that crashed at the site. The wine is great and worth going again! read more

The Mrs. and I stopped by Hatfield Creek Winery yesterday on what was the first of two wineries we planned to visit that day. The winery didn't open until 11. We arrived around 10:40 a.m. and hung out on the patio until Eddie came out of the tasting room to say he was ready for us. Th tasting room is a fairly large space with a small bar at one end and the rest of the room is decorated with antique furniture. Or what I perceive to be antique furniture. There are two other structures on the property. One being the home of Norm and Elaine who own the winery and another larger structure that houses a small museum and Norm's woodworking shop. All three of these structures surround a large patio area. A beautiful setting for enjoying a glass of wine. Red and white Sangria are offered as well. Eddie poured for us and was so nice. The tasting menu consisted of one white, a Viognier, and the rest were reds. The tasting fee was $12 for four tastes. Very reasonable compared to other wineries in the area. The red wines were on the younger side. We tasted the: 2019 Estate Zinfandel(Sold out. I bought the last bottle.) 2020 Sangiovese 2019 Estate Fonzi Field Blend 2020 Three Goddesses All four wines were really good and well balanced. I am constantly impressed by the wine in the Ramona AVA. I ended up purchasing the Zinfandel, Fonzi Field Blend, and Three Goddesses. I think I'm going to try to hold the Zinfandel for a bit to see how it ages. While enjoying our wine under the shade of a large tree on the patio. St. Francis of Assisi graced us with his presence. Not literally of course, but in the form of a statue. We were also graced with the presence of Clifford the winery cat. A very friendly feline who wanted to be involved in our wine tasting experience. I read a review from a fellow Yelper who began his review with the term NOT KID FRIENDLY. To that end, there is a sign clearly posted outside the tasting room that says no persons under 21 allowed. Not all wineries are meant to be kid friendly. Believe me, I have a kid so I'm well aware of the extent to which wineries are "kid friendly". read more

Love this place! Has so many different spots to sit all with great views so if one area is busy you can just pop over to another. Got to chat with one of the owners for a while and they are super. Wine is good and I love the atmosphere. Inside is spacious and open yet very comfy and cozy so if it gets a little windy outside just pop on in. I love that there's a lot of shade available outside as sometimes the wineries around town lack here and gosh, it sure does get hot sometimes in Ramona! Of the wineries I've been to this has the more relaxed/at home/mountain town feel to it which I highly enjoy. read more

I am not the best judge of California wine, I'm all about Argentinian and Spanish wines, so we did the wine flight tasting, and loved the estate wine they only had a few cases left! And their cab was a favorite of my boyfriends, second to my favorite of the flight. Also the rose was refreshing! Highly recommend for a rosé. I love the chill vibe and quiet joy this play gave off. We were heading back home from a long weekend and decided to extend our stay another night and lucked out that Hatfield Creek was willing to host our RV through Harvest Hosts. The winery is beautiful and we parked so we had a stunning view of the vineyard. The leaves were turning and it was so colorful! The owners and staff were friendly and welcomed us and our two dogs onto their property. We enjoyed the wine tasting, chatting with Eddie and other customers. Stopped-in to do some tasting on the recommendation of a fellow red-wine lover. There's plenty of parking and the tasting room is awesome, with lots of Ramona memorabilia to look at while you taste. Juliana was a wonderfully, gracious hostess. She explained each wine, local or estate grapes, flavors, pairings, etc. The wines were very tasty, especially the 2015 and 2016 Syrah. The tastings and wines are reasonably priced. I would recommend making Hatfield Creek a stop the next time you're in Ramona. read more

We really enjoyed our time at Hatfield Creek. Went on a Friday afternoon and almost had the whole place to ourselves. Excellent selection of all red wines, a couple fully estate grown and others with grapes sourced from Ramona AVA. Kenny was a fun host, knowledgable and we love when you go to these small charming wineries and get to meet/chat directly with the owners and winemakers. They allow you to bring outside food to enjoy with the wines and have a greeter dog who hangs out with you too. Tip: Try the self guided tour to explore the property and learn more about the interesting history and features of the property. Overall a wonderful experience at a charming boutique winery, we'll be back for sure. read more

Five stars for Ms. Debbie who put up with us and our toddlers last Saturday. She was generous and kind to us desperate parents who REALLY required some wine after a visit to the pumpkin patch nearby. The kids were ramped up so a bottle on their patio and stroll through the vines was just the perfect end to our cooler fall weekend day. I don't actually suggest this winery for young children (like 4or under) - if we were not the only folks there we would have been quite disruptive and it was a challenge to keep them from touching or breaking anything. We were up for it and they were cool about it but its def more of an adult vibe. So for all you folks sans babies out there - this review is to inspire you take take advantage of this local spot if you have the chance. We will try not to descend and annoy you while you enjoy your wine on their adorable patio, while you explore the quaint room of antiques or enjoy a picnic table under the vines. NOT KID FRIENDLY - Good winery, nice estate, but if you have kids or a dog or pets, find a more friendly place. We visited here and were warmly greeted by the a few of the owners - the gentleman was particularly nice but the two ladies were quite verbose about "not allowing anyone under 16" after allowing all of us in and after saying it was fine to have our service dog off leash, the older lady quipped quickly and rudely that she needed to be on a leash when she encountered their cat. The other two ladies chimed in after an apparent few bottles of wine. I'm a business owner and understand these reviews impact business but my strong suggestion is to more cordial to customers when offering feedback. Best of luck with this business but if you have any kids or dogs and want to relax for a glass of wine, find one of the over 40 other wineries in the area that are more friendly. read more

Came here based off of a recommendation from another winery in the area. The winery has a very cool rustic feel. Wines were good. Reds were definitely on the sweet side. There was definitely so wines that stood out. I ended up buying a bottle of the desert wine that didnt have brandy in in. It was quite unique and good tasting. We went there yesterday what amazing owner our whole family went we ate in the vineyard had wine and learned the history of the place. Elaine and Norm are amazing. Our group had people ages 70 all the way to 22,33 etc. And everyone agreed to try their game night and Sunday supper I read the review about families below who have the bad review we were there These people had kids running screaming and breaking things. The owners asked that they watch the kids and not let them destroy things and to quiet them but these parents got angry instead of understanding that everyone else was being disturbed by theirs kids. If you want to get your drink on fine, but leave your kids at home if you are too drunk to watch them not to mention drive them please don't bring them. this is for their safety as well as our experience. Hearing your kids scream and yell isn't my idea is enjoying a gorgeous wine tasting experience. Next time I'll step in because how they treated the owners was shameful ! Hatfield is a really cute eclectic place! Not to mention they have some amazing wines! 4 stars because their wines are a bit higher priced. Wine truly is an individual taste so those that rate it purely on their tastes are not rating fairly. Hatfield has wonderful ambiance, an amazing staff and something for everyone! They were packed and the lady serving (wish I could remember the name!!!) was a gem!!!! We bought the Zin and the Syrah (despite the outrageous cost), cant wait to enjoy it down the road. We stayed overnight thru Harvest Host in our trailer as there is room for 3 camp spots in the vineyard. They also rent a vintage trailer in the vineyard. Oh yeah, and fantastic wine too. SMH.... It's a cute little place right off the road. The main lady running the place could use some customer service tips. She was pretty rude off the start by enforcing we wear our masks while she had hers halfway down her mouth while opening our bottle. She also didn't bother to be hospitable and tell us anything about the wine. We grabbed a table on the patio and waited for her to check on us like she said she would. She never did. I really hope it wasn't the fact that we were the only people of color at that place. She sure seemed friendly with everyone else. Sad, but I'm never coming back or recommending.
