They had tastings for local wines, all out of the surrounding vicinity, including San Diego. We just had to do the chocolate pairing as well, and the chocolate is also out of Carlsbad and had so many amazing unique flavors. My favorite being the one with the potato chips. Though I still feel the southern California wines aren't as good as the northern California wines, I'm glad that it's becoming more and more common and I do have to admit that it's improved greatly over the last 10 years. The person who was at the counter of Julian wine and chocolates was super friendly and knowledgeable. The little shop was very inviting and the tasting prices were very reasonable. I highly recommend you stop in and check out some of the Southern California wines.

The drive from Riverside County into Ramona was very peaceful and beautiful so the start of it was already in alignment. We were greeted right away by Shelly and her welcoming smile. She went over the tasting and shared with us information about the Brandy they also make onsite. We enjoyed all of the wines and really enjoyed the Brandy's as well. After the tasting my husband had a glass and we sat on the deck just taking in the beautiful views and wonderful weather. As we were getting ready to depart we knew one of those bottles of Brandy needed to go home with us , but very difficult to choose when everything we tasted was very good. We chose to share the tasting (full disclosure, I did much of the tasting) and we went down their list of white and reds. I'm a white lover generally , but these reds were SO good that we chose five of them along with the white. Valet parking is available for $10. WINE & FOOD: Vanessa poured for us and was an excellent host and wine educator. She greeted us with a complimentary pour of their 2024 Walt Rosé of Pinot Noir before delving into our wine background, experience, and explaining the various flights. She took the time to get to know us and made excellent recommendations. My wife and I shared the L'Amour de Blancs flight ($29), the Elegant Expressions flight ($59), and the Taste of Terroir flight ($99). Each flight consisted of three generous pours, and as we went through, Vanessa even poured a few extra Pinot Noirs she knew we'd enjoy. The wines are extremely well-made and quite elegant, offering a good balance of acidity, tannins, and flavors. Along with the wines, we also tried several items off their Savory Bites menu: Marinated Olives & Nuts ($10), Soppressata Croquettes ($15), Wild Mushroom Pâté & Black Truffle ($18), and the Duck Confit Crostini ($18). Everything was delicious and for those who might be unsure, the menu offers wine paring suggestions so you can't go wrong. We enjoyed : Viognier, very crisp with a slight mango and honeysuckle hint. The 2022 blush was a very dry fruity floral sip . And for the summer, they surprised us with a beautiful sweet sangria .
