Our group had a great experience at Mermaid Valley. Started off with a warm welcome from the personable winemaker and he was great throughout our wine tasting. We never felt rushed and pacing was perfect. We sat inside as we had a large group and the high table worked for us. But we still had a lovely view of the vineyard. This is a small family run business. It was very laid back and service was great. We love their wines. That's the reason we came and will return again. I'm kind of surprised there's not a lot of reviews on this place but it's nice . We a bottle of Viognier . They have a stunning view of the valley . The place is on the smaller side. I think the owner helped us. She was pleasant. The day we were there the power went out. It was ok we were leaving anyway . They are dog friendly. read more

Sixteen women gathered in Ramona, tucked into Mermaid Valley Winery -- and if you haven't heard of it, look up the reviews. People use words like enchanted, unexpected gem, soulful hospitality -- and as always, Yelp isn't lying. This place is less "winery" and more living postcard, hand-built by two people who have clearly lived enough life to pour it into a bottle! Tammy and I stole another night and day together -- our version of church. This wasn't just wine-tasting. It was a celebration of life, of friendships that have endured, and of new ones just beginning to take root. A little community, gathered under the guise of grapes, herstory and laughter. I played the sober one -- the dutiful DD -- which I made up for sufficiently once home with the spectacular Grenache I purchased at Mermaid! My friend may not be able to confirm (though that photo of day-drinking will never see daylight). If you're anywhere near San Diego and you want more than just "a wine stop," go here. Must call ahead! And, ask for Kim. Once there, insist she bring out "the Janitor." That's what she calls him (LOL!). When you ask him how he got into this (based on his natural sommelier, entertainment abilities, and stories), he'll shrug and give her all the credit, because that's what love looks like after circling the globe with a soulmate -- a former doctor and nurse, now turning soil and sunlight into something sacred they can pour and share. Apparently there something like 43 different wineries in the Ramona area and I had no idea. Cute winery in Ramona has nice vibes and a beautiful landscape to view. Came here for a friends birthday and they have a little tasting room with some cool little decor. You could also sit outside and enjoy the sun if you like. Note: they do not have a kitchen however, you can bring your own food which is pretty nice and kids are allowed so all in all if I was back in town I would definitely I'll give it a shot. read more

After a recommendation from a local Ramona restaurant, we drove a short distance to this winery. Kim is a wonderful host and owner. Beautiful facility with an amazing patio and well decorated tasting room. Wines are tasty, no doubt enhanced by the excellent property and comfortable conversation. read more

On a referral from another local winery, we stopped by this somewhat newer winery in the Ramona/Highland Valley area. It wasn't easy to find the correct driveway, as there was no winery sign, only a big rock with the address, so pay attention as your GPS gets you close. There's a gravel parking lot and the sidewalk winds around to the back of the building for the entrance to the tasting room. It's a good size with fantastically large windows with views for miles, across the vineyard and valley. The back half of the building is the barrel room. Currently, their vineyard is a total of 4 acres, but they hope to have an ultimate build-out to 10 acres. SERVICE: We were the only customers during our visit, so we received all the attention of Kim & Scott Flinn, owners/winemakers. Kim was so gracious, and we had a wonderful time trying everything on the tasting menu, and even a couple that weren't. WINES: Estate grown varietals made into "Rhone" style wines. Their tasting fee is only $10, which includes a logo glass, and they'll waive the $10 fee with the purchase of two bottles. They were pouring whites, rosés, and reds, including a late harvest dessert wine. We were able to taste 8 wines and liked most of them, purchasing 6 bottles to take home. I always say that wines are very subjective to an individual's taste, so please give them a try and see what you think. Lovely property with a lot of potential for future growth. I highly recommend stopping in at Mermaid Valley Vineyard and say hello to the owners, Kim & Scott, and have some of their delicious wines. read more

This was our first stop on our Ramona wine tour, nice that it opens at 11am, easy to find nice parking. I love the mermaid theme they do a really good job of carrying that out with their decor and wine stoppers. Super friendly couple were running it, they have a nice patio with a beautiful view of the mountains and the vineyard. Worth checking out. Their vines are newer, but their wines are showing a lot of promise. They specialize in Rhône varietals, especially Grenache, Syrah, and blends of the two with Mourvèdre. However, their Merlot was well done. Plenty of outdoor seating, and the indoors is pretty open too. Overall, it's a pleasant, low-key wine tasting experience off the beaten path. read more

Very nice winery. Their views of the vineyard are just amazing. One can see the detail that went into decorating the tasting room. When we visited we were lucky that several wines were open for us to taste. $10 tasting fee not waived when purchased wines here. No music or anything going on. Was very quiet here. We enjoyed the wines. Loved the 2016 GSM. Fruity and well balanced. They had no sales/specials going on to entice customers to buy more wines. The wine tasting experience was lovely anyway. Came by via a referral from another local winery. Really lovely winery here. Tasting room is exquisite. Plenty of parking. Seating outside overlooks the amazingly gorgeous Grasslands Preserve where you can enjoy their terrific wines and marvel over incredible birds of prey and other wildlife in the Grasslands. Bring your binoculars! My understanding is that this winery is owned and operated by a retired military couple. I loved this! I also love supporting small business. I bought wine, however, I am not confident that my tasting charge was waived (which is common in the wine business so I thought my total was a bit high). My only comment, as trivial as it may seem, I would love to see a little more warmth from the gal who was working the tasting room. The wine business is a very social business and I really notice when the wine stewards are organically friendly, personable, knowledgable, warm, and hospitable. I wish the owners all the success.
