We came in after church and wanted a good home cooked meal but not doing it ourselves. The staff greeted us and were very nice. I placed our order and it took about 30-45 minutes. I didn't mind that because some of our order had to be cooked to order. We ordered the fried pork chops, mac and cheese with collards and the smothered pork chops with yams and collards. This is the first place I've ever been that served an actual pork chop and not pork steaks. That's a big plus. The gravy on the pork chops was delicious and I liked that rice or mashed potatoes comes with a gravy entree. The yams were just right and the cornbread was on point. The only issue was the mac and cheese. It was dry and lacking cheese and flavor. I know it was around 1:30 but consistency is key! Overall, it was pretty good but that one thing would have taken this review over the top. read more

Today was my second visit to this restaurant. My first experience was excellent--the food was so good that I called friends and family afterward and encouraged them to order for the holidays. Although I live about twenty-five miles away, the quality of that first visit made the drive feel worthwhile. Because of that experience, I decided to return today and was excited to order the ribs again, along with mac and cheese and greens. While waiting for my food, I observed a Caucasian couple receive their order. The staff member who brought it out was very cordial, made eye contact, and thanked them for their order, which I considered good customer service. When my food was brought out by the same person, the interaction was noticeably different. She handed me the bag without making eye contact and did not say thank you. I said "thank you" to her, and she then replied. Once I got to my car, I decided to eat some of the food. The ribs looked old and tasted old. As I continued eating, something did not sit right with my stomach, and I became physically ill and vomited in the parking lot--something that has not happened to me in years. I was extremely disappointed, especially given that the food was not inexpensive. I can only speak to what I was served, but this experience fell far below the standard of my first visit. It is disheartening when the quality and care that initially earned my support were not reflected this time. Compromising the integrity of your food and service is never worth it. read more

They got greens on Sunday. I ordered a fried chicken plate, good bread, rice and gravy. The green beans stood out. Breading on the chicken has good flavor. Been hearing some noise about this place online and it's just down the rode from us....so we stopped in for lunch today. I will say that the folks are super nice as well as Ms. Hattie herself. The Chicken is just like Mom would make and the Mac Cheese was on point. Green beans were ok but the Corn muffin was dry dry dry. Fries had good seasoning but they were soggy and they just came out....so?.....Tough call here as the food was above average but the pricing was a bit steep compared to what you can get in the area for less. Parking is something to be worked on, only three spots after that figure it out for yourself. Will stop in again for the Fish and Dressing to round out the experience, but pricing does need to be adjusted though or I feel things will drop off unfortunately, especially for a home grown business.... read more

Wow! My husband and I were craving fried chicken and did a quick Yelp search to see what was close to our house. This place is a hidden gem. It's located in a small building next to a church. The outside and inside of the restaurant aren't much but the food is top notch: I ordered the white meat fried chicken with dressing and French fries. The chicken was super crispy and seasoned beautifully. The dressing was also very good, I am pretty picky when it comes to dressing. This was moist and had a ton of flavor. They even serve it with a little side of gravy, which I ended up using to dip my fries in because the dressing had plenty of flavor. My husband had the dark meat with Mac n cheese and French fries. When we ordered we saw they had banana pudding on the menu and we are big banana pudding fans so this was a must. I asked the woman taking our order what her favorite was and she said the red red velvet so we got a slice of that as well. Our food took about ten mins to come out, we sat outside under an umbrella.
