I finally tried this place, and I wasn't disappointed! I haven't had red beans and rice in a while, and I must say, it took me back to my childhood. The red beans were delicious, and they gave a nice portion with plenty of sausage, as you can see in the picture. I also ordered what I believe was a pound of brisket, I went the day before, so I can't remember the exact size. The brisket was tender, flavorful, and had just the right amount of seasoning. It was delicious! The cornbread was yummy too. Everyone makes gumbo differently these days. The gumbo had what tasted like a poultry flavor. I couldn't pinpoint it at first, but I recognized the taste. It had a nice flavor overall. My only issue was the lack of protein. I only saw one or two small pieces of meat. Thinking back, it was probably chicken gumbo because it wasn't seafood gumbo, but I didn't ask, and the menu only said "gumbo." Overall, the staff were nice and helpful, and the food was good. I ordered a Bar b q potato and no where did it say it had sour cream... they brought it to the table and I said I can't eat sour cream, they took the potato back, scraped off the sour cream and meat and gave me back the same potato... not cool!!! Update: the kitchen noticed that I wasn't happy and did eventually bring me another potato. Also, everyone else at the table enjoyed their meals. read more

Stopped in here to try on a Monday night. The whole room is filled with New Orleans decor. The menu is fairly big so allow yourself time to look over it. You order at the counter and they bring it to you once it's ready. The staff was very friendly and helped suggest things to order. We decided to try the smoke wings with garlic pepper which are the best wings we've had in years. We also ordered the jambalaya and the voodoo combo which comes with some ribs with a special rub and glaze that I dont believe are available on any of the other dishes. This combo also came with a half pound of pulled pork. The sides we got were the MOJO bbq beans, fries, and cole slaw. ALL the food was AMAZING. I didn't want to go because I can't eat anything that is too smoked or I'll be sick, but I decided to go for my hubby who really wanted to try it. I asked if they had anything not smoked and I got a couple of options. I had a burger and it was so delicious!!! My husband had the brisket and the chicken breast with jerk seasoning. I had a little taste of that and although the seasoning is not jerk (I know for sure since my husband is Jamaican), the chicken was nice and moist. He also got wings and really liked them! My neighbor and I ordered delivery from there yesterday for movie night and I've been sick ever since and both of our dogs!! My dog has had diarrhea 4 times, twice on the living room carpet and thrown up twice on my bed. I took 2 Benadryls when I first started feeling sick and I'm still having stomach aches and nausea but my poor sweet black lab has had it so much worse! She hasn't eaten or drank anything all day. If she isn't better by in the morning I'm going to take her to our vet. The bbq pork must've been bad and my dogs vomit smelled like rancid oil. The pork tasted a lil off but since I've never eaten there before, I thought it was probably the seasonings. I was VERY WRONG!! My friend had the shrimp and fish, she gave both our dogs some and they've both been sick ever since with my sweet black lab being the worst. It's been a long time since I visited Voodoo BBQ.... And when I did, it was in New Orleans' Garden District. I remember loving the Nola Vibe that resonated throughout the place. What I remember loving the most, though, is the sweet potato soufflé! This visit, to a newer franchise location, turned out to be pretty good. This place rocks that cool Nola vibe, too. The sweet potato soufflé remains my favourite item on the menu to my this day. The smoked sausage and brisket, as well as the gris gris greens were good, too! The cashier was friendly, and staff from both back of the house and front of the house checked on us periodically to ensure we were happy and that we had everything we needed. Went again for lunch the other day l, thinking let's give this place one more try. Disappointed again. Got the sandwich lunch special. The chicken salad was fine....had a weird flavor could not put my finger on it. The pulled pork was just pulled pork nothing special the picture showed an onion ring and sauce on it but none of that was on the sandwich it's self. The buns were probably one/two days away from being thrown out for being stale...but I'm sure they would still be used until mold showed up. The beans are literally dumped from a can and warmed up. No new flavors just beans. Finally got to try the pork rinds and they were good. What really makes me sad is the sauces are good...but you have to add so much sauce to the food because overall it's bland and tasteless. The new thing today was the floor was super sticky....are we are trying to make it feel more authentic like we are actually in New Orleans? Stopped by at 6 pm on 9/12/25. I ordered the two meat combo with Chicken breast and Smoked Beef brisket. I got 3 slices of brisket, with a $4 up charge, and a chicken breast. Both meats were cold and were dry as can be. No flavor till I put on sauce. All this for $34.00 dollars. I will never come back and I will tell anyone that looking for BBQ to go to Sonny's. We have always enjoyed eating here. Unfortunate, today my husband was given a quarter chicken that was undercooked and they wouldn't switch it out. They claimed it was cooked. Chicken is not fully cooked if the meat is red and it's too hard to break apart from the bone. We asked for a refund and they were bothered by that. read more

I'm torn to write this review because I had this place a few months ago and it was awesome. Reason why I gave it 3 stars instead of one. This time was just horrible. I get the 3 meat plate with 2 brisket and one chicken, two sides. And an extra corn bread order. This brisket was hockey picked, dryer than eating some saltine crackers with no water. Bbq sauce could not save this meat. The cornbread was so burnt and over cooked. I am just shook, they even served this food. I know it could be a new cool or something. Arriving just after 1:00 PM the restaurant was somewhat in disarray although it seemed the staff was making efforts to clean the tables I guess I expect a clean table prior to finding a seat being it's a seat yourself restaurant I don't appreciate having the table wiped down after I'm seated. Out of my own ignorance I chose the spicy BBQ which means they take the same unspiced BBQ and cover it with some kind of dry seasoning that you may like or not like in this case I would have preferred to have the option to dust it myself if I would have known - just put it on the table and don't try and guess or assume I like your dry powder seasoning or how much of it I want. Sweet Potato Soufflé - absolutely the best side we tried, smooth full of sweetness I highly recommend this one Mac and Cheese - it was served cold and it was thick and gummy Fries - meh they might have been okay served hot Gumbo - not a fan of this thin weak version of so called gumbo - they need to remove this one from the menu or take a lesson on how to make real gumbo - it's terrible if you've ever eaten good gumbo, it reminded me of dishwater Smoked Chicken - kinda bland I did like the way it was presented sliced I wish I hasn't ordered it spicy it was covered in their "secret seasoning" Sliced Brisket - it was tender but again covered in that powdered stuff rendering it almost inedible. Ribs - they were okay I guess the sauce kinda knocked down the spice Okay lesson learned avoid the spicy seasoning unless you can get it on the side I don't know if that's an option - although the staff was very friendly and made some efforts it was disappointing - we made a bad decision in ordering it spicy although without it I think it would be extremely bland - maybe today wasn't a good example of what's the norm for VooDoo I don't know if I would be willing to try them again being this lunch was forty bucks for two... read more

We receive Voo Doo BBQ at work today from a vendor. I'd like to start off first saying it smelts super good and everything thing looks amazing. I had the chicken it was very well seasoned and grilled perfectly. The pulled pork was little dry even with the bbq sauce. It tasted very Smokey but if there was any seasoning it was over powered by the smoke flavor. I didn't get anything else because some of it honestly didn't look very appetizing and the corn bread was between moist and very dry for example like when get rolls from Texas road house and they are super moist and soft in the inside but imagine the cornbread like the rolls but very dry and crumbly in the middle like it's missing something. read more
