Simple, fresh, and absolutely delicious. The seafood was fried perfectly and seasoned just right. The fish was flaky and hot straight out of the fryer, and the fried shrimp were crisp and flavorful. Even the sides were great and tasted homemade. You can tell right away that the owners and staff genuinely care about what they do. Their pride in the food and the restaurant really shows in the quality of everything they serve. Came here for lunch the day after Christmas because there are only so many leftovers one can eat. T and I both had the shrimp platter that came with a generous number of shrimp. The menu literally says "8 or so jumbo shrimp," so hopefully you get the "or so" like I did. The shrimp were excellent; perfectly fried and the dredge they use is well seasoned. The fries were hot and seasoned, and the coleslaw was cold, creamy, and delicious. The homemade hush puppies were so good I ate my 2 and the 2 T didn't want. The ladies working were very friendly and attentive, bringing out cocktail sauce and some spicy mayo that was really good. It's my first time here, I found out about this food place near me on Yelp, and I really don't regret it. The place is not big, but it is comfortable, it looks clean. The employee was very kind and very sweet. checking all the time that everything was fine. The food arrived hot and didn't take long. I ordered a shrimp plater with coleslaw fries. My husband ordered the shrimp po boy's with fries and coleslaw. This was one of the best coleslaw I have ever had, so fresh, so delicious. It's unassuming from the outside. That's your mistake in thinking that. We walked in, and nearly every table was full - younger, older, families. Order at the counter, and they'll bring it to the table. We had grouper and shrimp, cole slaw, cheese grits, hush puppies... It was all fantastic. The phone rang regularly for takeout orders while we were eating. If you haven't been there (and we hadn't), you're sleeping on this place. The food is fresh and delicious. The folks are friendly. For lunch today, I had the fried mullet platter with baked beans, coleslaw, and fried okra. The lady behind the counter was perfect; depending on your age she could be your grandmother, your warm mother or your favorite sister. The fried mullet was so fresh it curled up on the ends. The sides were perfect. On the other side of town the fishing hole is my favorite mullet. When I'm on Pine Forest Road though it will be Shannon's. This place is a gem. read more

we searched yelp for a local mom and pop seafood restaurant. Shannon's Seafood Kitchen was 18 miles away, but so many people raved about it, we decided to bite the bullet even though it was rush hour and took a long time to get there. so glad we did! we had a seafood platter where you get to pick any two of their specialties. we had fried okra, a double steak burger, some John's Bangin' Shrimp, and a bunch of sides. this was the crunchiest and best okra i've ever had. it was so crunchy, our plastic forks would bend instead of piercing the batter, so we had to eat it with our fingers. The blackened grouper was moist, tasty, flaky, tender. The fries were crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. I do not recommend the double steak burger :-) . it was so huge, i could not fit my mouth around it. the single would have been perfect. the fresh onions and piles of tomatoes made it so fresh tasting. the burger itself was thick and juicy. the bacon was crisp and thick. what a burger. we had not eaten all day, so we ordered too much. the fried oysters were delish, the banana pudding was very tasty. the bangin' shrimp was seasoned like buffalo wings with green onions on top, very original. it was a great experience all together. the people were so nice, even other customers spoke to us and invited us into this little local community. if you get a chance to stop in, you won't regret it. read more

I ordered the shrimp Po boy sandwich an I was not dissapointed. Prepare to be amazed at how they try to fit twenty hand-breaded local shrimp. "Yes local" into a hot Gambino bread. I could only gaze at the quantity of the food in my simple plate, I found the land of plenty if there's such a thing. My first bite into the Po'boy, made me feel like I was in New Orleans. Lettuce, tomato, pickle and mayo, the breaded shrimp was flavorful, fresh and cooked to perfection. Fries were deliciously crunchy, and the cole slaw fresh, creamy, with just the right tangy-sweet flavor. Spoiler alert, the shrimp's size only allows you to squeeze maybe eight to twelve inside the Po'boy, you will have to eat the rest from the plate. Service is outstanding. I love this place. I'll preface this as 1 st time super busy time and day / The ladies we're very nice bit frazzled but working their fannys off thank you ladies / Chefs food was good but my okra was cold fish was fresh and hot. Such a fresh variety of fried fish nice portions shrimps are delicious too , we had platters able to mix we tried the red snapper the Mahi , the grouper and shrimps, all the sides are delicious coleslaw was one of my favorite, everything was very tasty the mullets looked amazing! Off the top, the customer service was A-1. I didn't get the woman's name behind the counter but she was the sweetest lady. Food was great. Only complaint I have is my greens had too many stems in them. Those who eat greens know what I mean. That will not stop me from going back on my next visit to Pensacola though. Closed Sun & Mon, this seafood restaurant is open Tues thru Thurs 11 AM till 5 PM; Fri 11 AM till 7 PM; & Sat 11 AM till 3 PM. We read the positive reviews & stopped in for the Fried Mullet, which unfortunately was not available today. (Oysters were also unavailable.) We opted for a fried Catfish Platter & a fried Grouper w/ Shrimp Platter (aka Combination Platter). Two hushpuppies accompanied each platter along w/ two sides: we opted for Coleslaw (2), Cheese Grits, & Loaded Baked Potato Salad. My friend added a side of Fried Okra along w/ the Lumpia appetizer-- SEE PIC. The fish was fresh & fried well. The potato salad was creamy-- quite EXCELLENT. (I've never been a fan of potato salad.) We both liked the hushpuppies. One of us liked the very wet Coleslaw. The cheese grits were very good once I added salt, & the fried okra was EXCELLENT (according to my friend.) We were not impressed w/ the Lumpia, a Filipino dish I make annually w/ beef & pork. The lumpia filling was scant & a tad undercooked. It also lacked flavor, & the Spring roll wrapper was too thick. (Cilantro would have helped w/ the flavor.) Patrons fill their own cups w/ unsweetened or sweet Gold Peak iced tea or w/ other Coca-Cola products. Ten PLATTERS grace the menu; they range in price from $12.99 to $23.99-- SEE MENU PICS. Four entrees are served w/ grits-- $13.99 to $18.99. Ten STARTERS & APPETIZERS are on the menu along w/ a cup & bowl of GUMBO. Want a PO'BOY? There are ten available! Four items are listed under STEAK BURGERS & SANDWICHES. Seven SIDES are offered: Fries, Coldslaw, Baked Beans, Cheese Grits, Collard Greens, Cucumber & Tomato Salad, Fried Okra, Loaded Bake Potato Salad, & a Side Salad ($2.99 & $3.99). Diners order at the counter, but the food is brought to the table on square aluminum trays covered in retro-like newspaper print.
