Decided to try their lunch special of a Fried Shrimp Po Boy. These shrimp are definitely not frozen. Much better quality than most of the tourist traps. The bread was Gambino's French Bread. The bread pudding is also made from Gambino's French Bread. I rarely eat desserts out but this was incredible. Jessica H was our waitress and she earned her money. She kept my drink full. And her recommendation of the bread pudding was totally correct. One problem. I think the entire restaurant needs a deep cleaning. The wind was blowing trash in through the front doors. read more

Pros: Great location, right down on one of the main streets just outside downtown Pensacola. Very convenient for the nightlife crowd. Ambiance is fun. A cute little voodoo doll mascot outside, and NOLA stuff all over the place inside. Very cozy. Service was nice. No issues. Food was insane. Such soft poboy bread, plenty of large, plump shrimp in their pasta, and soft shelled crabs fried to crispy perfection. Cons: The food was great in many ways, but it was a little bland on the seasoning side. Tips: Get any of the poboys. They are all delicious. Get the bread pudding. I am surprised this place still open. Mother's Day and half empty. I never in living in New Orleans had bacon bits on my shrimp n grits. So they remade it. I look and noticed my roux and daughter's Cajun pasta sauce looked the same. I stirred the grits a little and found two pieces of pasta. So that pretty ruined my meal. The waitress apologized said manager will be out to talk to us. She or he never came. We got our military discount she discounted the bill. My husband's grouper was fried too hard. We left...will not be back and I'll definitely will be telling a few friends to not go here. Wonder why the manager looked at us then never came to say anything. Bad customer service. read more

Went for a Birthday Lunch with my friend . Server was very pleasant and attentive. We ordered Boudin Ball as an appy, way over fried, albeit it eatable . Bushwhackers were Great . My friend had a cup of Red Beans and Rice ... said it was good. I ordered The Roast Beef Debris Po Boy, and fries, (believe it or not, Fries are not included with the Po Boy ...+ $4.25) . The Fries were COLD, the bread on the PO Boy was stale, hard as a rock. Thus I could only eat the Roast Beef with a fork. Mentioned to a server , said the best they could do is deduct the Cold Fries from the bill. As I had eaten the roast beef with a fork, (thus NOT a PO Boy) NO adjustment to my bill ..... I took my friend out for a deive on our last day of being Hurricane Evacure, and this is where we landed, since neither of us had any experience with the location, we went in happily! Quick, friendly, and good food. What a cute way to experience some creole inspired foods without the drive to New Orleans. The atmosphere, smells, and music definitely paint you inside the French Quarter. We ordered the Fried Green tomatoes, creole gumbo, shrimp and grits and their Thursday Lunch Special the Fried Shrimp Poboy. The fried green tomatoes were not a hit, sadly. I love a good fried green tomato and these didn't hit the mark. They were cut thick and the breading was a bit too...thick(?). The roumalade is creamy, slightly zesty and has a kick. I'd skip these and try something else as an appetizer. The Creole gumbo was very good. Smoky from the Andouille, buttery, and hit all those palatable creole notes. The shrimp and Grits are good, only complaint would be the tails..Why leave tails on the shrimp if they are not massive gulf shrimp? It became a messy task to pull the tail off and eat the grits at the same time. However, the flavor was great and took my tastebuds to creole heaven. The Shrimp PoBoy..DO NOT SLEEP ON THIS! It was delicious! Gambino's bread, light spread of mayo, perfectly breaded and fried shrimp, tomatoes and lettuce! Simple. Refreshing. Delicious! Does not come with Roumalade sauce, but ordered on the side to add it to every bite! I ordered the shrimp Po Boy with fried green tomatoes (12 inch). My eyes were bigger than my belly as I could only eat half of this sandwich. The Po Boy was delicious. I had the second half for lunch the next day. I would definitely recommend the Restaurant Nola for your dining pleasure. We will return! read more

We stopped in on a Wednesday night for dinner. Parking lot was pretty full but the dining room was empty. We elected to eat outside on the patio which had one other table occupied. We were concerned but hungry. Turned out to be a good experience. Waitress was very friendly and gave some good guidance. Creole gumbo was great. Oyster poboy was also very good. After moving away from the Gulf Coast to Orlando, it became very hard for me to find good Cajun food. I've suffered through my fair share of second rate po' boys and lackluster gumbos. So when I get a chance to visit home, I seek out the best of the best. Cafe Nola was that best, and now they have a sister location for those who want to stay on the mainland. Great location, right in the heart of our restaurant row just off of downtown. Lots of bangin' places right on that strip. Walking up to the restaurant, you get greeted by that Voodoo doll mascot of theirs whose name escapes me. And then you walk in, and boom, you're in the French Quarter. Very well decorated, and celebrates the magnificent heritage of NOLA. We got seated and our server was on point. On us all night, refills aplenty, very nice fella. He gave us our menus, and I had to solve the incredible hard conundrum of how to only pick one thing to eat. Luckily, I was with a bunch of fellas and got to sample a bunch of things this night! I started it off right, with the Chicken Wings (Buffalo). Excellent wings. They were of a good weight, crispy on the outside, moist on the inside, and not too saucy. They did provide us with extra dipping sauces of various flavors. Not sure how that happened, but it was good and fun to mix and match sauces like that. Good good item. We naturally moved into the Boudin Balls (Fried sausage balls stuffed with pork, rice, spices). Flavor bomb! Exactly what I wanted from a boudin fritter. Mega crisp on the outside, rice was cooked perfectly, and it came with a dipping sauce that added a creaminess and a kick of heat. Both were very important. Then I got my hands on the very unique Crawfish & Andouille Dip (Served with Gambino's® French bread). Imagine Buffalo chicken dip, but with crawfish and andouille instead. Very cheesy and creamy and just bad for you, but that's what made it oh so good. Cajun decadence at it's best. Then for me and only me, I got the Geaux Geaux Shrimp (Fried Shrimp tossed in our New Orleans style BBQ sauce). This was the hit of the night for me! That sauce was deeeep flavor, simmered with the holy trinity, and I'm not saying it is spicy, but it had the biggest kick of the night for me. Drizzled over the top of the still just crispy enough shrimp, that were cooked perfectly. I want this every time. I did also get a cup of the Seafood Gumbo, and I slurped that baby down. You could taste that brick roux just fine in there. Reminded me of my childhood. Really a big fan, and there was plenty of seafood inside, they weren't skimpy here. Overall, I can't rave enough about this place. Probably a new restaurant for me that I will hit every time I'm in town. Thanks, NOLA team! read more

We visited for dinner during our visit and returning two days later for lunch and the food was amazing! We had an appetizers and entree meals. All were delicious and big portions. The craft drinks are very tasty too. Especially the Hurricane which is made just as strong as New Orleans style. (If you've been you know) Our server on both visits were prompt and courteous. I planned a trip to Pensacola Beach and wanted to eat somewhere that served chargrilled oysters. I found this place and the website pictures and descriptions intrigued me. An explanation for the four stars is as follows: Hurricane drink (5) - Excellent drink. Good quality and great price. Charbroiled oysters (2) - i thought they were chargrilled so my bad for ordering these. They were ok. Creole gumbo (3) - good taste and dark roux. Tons of rice and very little meat. Turf and Surf Poboy (5) - excellent and will have to try it again. Service (2) - drinks were served quickly but the food took a long time. I think there was a party on the other side of the restaurant. Ambiance (2) - I did not expect much but the floors were not clean and all condiment bottles on my table were empty. I will go back to this place as I think it has potential to be so much better. read more

We came on a chill Saturday afternoon! The ambiance was nice! The service was on point! Now- the food... I had a hankering for a fish and shrimp poboy. It's not on the menu but they allowed me to add fish to my shrimp poboy! Of course I added Gouda cheese too. The Gambino's bread was spot on- soft in the middle and flaky on the outside. Freaking delicious. The fish was a huge piece crunchy, piping hot, and well seasoned! The shrimp was perfectly crispy and there was a ton on the poboy! I was NOT disappointed with it in the least! My wife brought me here for some birthday supper to satisfy the craving for Cajun food. We had seen this place while driving around and were also told by our brother in-law that it was legit. It was a Monday around 6pm, the place was mostly empty on the patio and we chose to sit outside since it was a beautiful afternoon. We were seated and able to place a drink order right away. The server was helpful with explaining the draft beer options and even offered to get a sample of one. The menu covers just about everything you could expect from boudin to jambalaya to po-boys and much more. Boudin balls to start - I could eat these as a meal, the remoulade was perfect as well. I ordered the pasta Nola - fettuccine, shrimp, andouille sausage in a Cajun cream sauce. This dish was loaded with shrimp and the sauce was light (for being cream based) and flavorful. My wife ordered the Geaux Geaux shrimp po-boy which was jampacked with fried shrimp in a tangy sauce. Our server also gave us some hush puppies, on the house. Plenty of leftovers to take home! We were attending a wedding in Gulf Breeze. Where we live the food options are somewhat limited; we have mostly seafood restaurants. We were very excited to have Cajun food. I had the crawfish etouffe; it's was outstanding! I'd like to recreate it at home. My husband had the sampler platter, He could choose three out of six. He chose the jambalaya, crawfish etouffe, and gumbo. He loved all his choices. Our friend, who isn't a big fan of Cajun, opted for the fried shrimp dinner. The portion was HUGE. She said, it was very good. I tried one of her hush puppy's, that was pretty darn good too. Our waiter, Buddy, was soooo very friendly and welcoming. The ambiance was very nice and clean. Hubby and I had the most amazing Oysters Rockefeller at Cafe Nola last night! There is an option to get them topped with Hollandaise sauce. Add $4 per doz. that is the traditional way, and the way we roll! Nailed it! :).... Laissez les bons temps rouler! Oui Oui! And it was a good time. A party going on in my taste buds. haha. We also ordered the blackened grouper & it was also cooked perfectly! WOWZA! As was the hush puppies & cole slaw. Both fabulous. We didn't care for the pre-seasoned french fries as they were not authentic. Plain French fries would be better. I got a bowl of red beans & rice also & it comes with french bread. The Red beans & rice was very nice, authentic with andouille sausage, the rice cooked perfectly. Wish the french bread was "garlic french bread" other than that I would def order it all again, and again and again :)... The food was excellent! However, the service was terrible! It took a LONG LONG LONG time to get the oysters Rockefeller. And when we finally got them, only half of the dozen oysters were covered in the Hollandaise sauce. The other half were just plain oysters Rockefeller. The ones covered in the Hollandaise sauce were perfection! Pure perfection! So by the time the waitress came by I ask her why was only half covered in the Hollandaise sauce? We paid for all of them to be topped in Hollandaise sauce. She was just like "I don't know, that is strange, let me go get you some more Hollandaise sauce." So that also took FOREVER as the other 6 oysters remained cold waiting on the Hollandaise sauce. And when she did finally bring the Hollandaise sauce it was a giant cup of Hollandaise sauce! lol I want to be very clear thou, who ever made the giant cup of Hollandaise sauce makes perfect Hollandaise sauce & I will def be back for your BRUNCH! YUM! lol But come on man, how can you not top my oysters with the Hollandaise sauce and THEN, an hour later, bring me a giant cup?! What in the dadgummit, dagnabbit sam hill, crawdaddy swamy nanny poop cockamamie "better late than never" bean brain fart rebound is that? What in the world is going on in that kitchen?
