After shopping with family, we stopped here. They have been here lots of times, for me, my first time. They came here specifically for the icee floats. For me, it was all about the ice cream. The store is very clean and they had several friendly, young staff working behind the counter. I had such a hard time deciding which flavors I wanted. I love Dave's because they have so many local flavors. They even have sugar-free ice cream in a couple of basic flavors. The young lady even offered if I wanted to sample any. I finally decided on a scoop of kulolo ice cream and a scoop of toasted macadamia nut. Both of these I had never tried. It was awesome. There are some benches just outside the store so we planted ourselves on one of them and enjoyed our snacks. Glad that Kaunakakai has this snack shop, a place that deserves repeat business. I love Dole Whip, but this place serves their own version called Pineapple Cream, and in my opinion, it's a million times better. They even have a poster in the shop comparing the ingredients, and let's just say they're not shy about pointing out what's in Dole Whip versus their own product. Their Pineapple Cream is made with simple ingredients, and you can absolutely taste the difference. They offer a variety of island inspired flavors, which made it tough to choose because everything sounded delicious. Unfortunately, we didn't discover this place until our last night in Maui. Otherwise, I have no doubt we would have come back multiple times during our trip. If you're a fan of pineapple ice cream, this is a must-visit. Seating was limited outdoors and inside was full. Wish they'd have more outdoor seating.

We enjoyed our scoops while sitting on one of their benches. We both felt that the flavors were decent, but the texture of the ice cream was a little "freezer burned" - we found chunks of ice in it, which was off putting. Reef is located in a parking lot and the truck is vibrant and inviting, beautifully decorated with lush green plants, making it super photo friendly. The ordering process is simple. You choose your base, pick the fruit you want blended in, and they make it fresh right in front of you. You can enjoy it in either a cone or a cup. There are a couple of picnic tables behind the truck that can comfortably seat about 10-12 people, which was nice for our family to sit and enjoy our treats together in the shade. Our only suggestion would be to add some shade for guests waiting in line. It gets pretty hot standing in direct sunlight, especially when there's a longer wait. That said, the quality, freshness, and healthier ingredients made it well worth the stop. Both the kids and the parents loved it, and we'd definitely recommend checking it out!

You can choose between Vanilla or Coconut (Non Dairy) Base, between a cup or a Waffle Cone, and you can choose 1 or up to 3 fruits to swirl into your ice cream. I was going to go modest with 1 fruit but decided on the 3 fruit combo of Strawberry, Mango and Banana and it was a nice swirl of fruits and the coconut base and I think best enjoyed in the crispy Waffle Cone. I'm a sprinkle addict (a go to on my ice cream since childhood lol) so that was lacking for me but I noticed you can add various toppings like Oreos, Honey, Granola, Waffle cone crumbles, etc. I tried my friend's fruit choices and they were delicious! The Pineapple with Coconut Base tasted like a Dole Whip, the Banana was light and creamy and the Strawberry and Mango (which was close to mine) was delicious as well. They have outdoor seating in the back with a little bit of shade. The last time I came with a friend was evening when it was cooler but the ice cream definitely hit during the day and was refreshing for sure.

I love the different flavors for the shave ice--I always get what I consider to be more Hawaiian or tropical (after all, when in Rome...) Portions are large! In November 2025, I got the 3 flavor guava pineapple and all natural lychee $6 but in the past, I've also enjoyed li hing mui, guava, and lilikoi with mochi (+$1), as well as pina colada! I keep coming back and so should you!
