We LOVED every single minute! First time going. Likely to do it again and again as an annual adventure! In total it last 30 to 45 minutes, depending how fast you walk or the group in front of you walks. It is about a mile walk, with SheSheds along the way that were every bit as scary as the trail so bring good shoes, as it is outside on a trail that is uneven and bumpy. A lot of volunteers help with this, and all the profits go to charities. This is amazing by itself! The entire trail was filled with jump scares, young kids who cannot handle it, should not go BUT there were plenty of littles there as well. There is also security along the way, you don't see them though - they blend in so well but are there in case you need to exit the show early. This is a nice safety feature that was used while we were there for the group behind us. The group behind us had a little girl in it that started crying midway through the show (it kind of added to the effect of the show to be honest) - the girl looked all of 6 or 7. Sadly, the adults she was with were calling her baby and telling her to stop crying. Come on people. This is a scary show with jump scares. It is not for littles! Sadly, I am disappointed in that child's adult, calling a little girl baby for simply being scared. SMH. STAFF though were nothing short of AMAZING. Staff stopped, bent down to her level, and asked, so quietly and sweetly, if she wanted to leave through a short cut, she did. The little girl did want out and they helped her out. AWESOME job staff! The road getting here is extremely LONG and DARK. We missed the turn coming as we had never been and the road that followed, before we could turn around, became an adventure in and of itself too! Parking staff were awesome and had a great sense of humor. The trail - OMG! It was dark and scary! At times I was not completely sure which way to go (no worries, staff do their job well and direct you through body positioning, etc...). A lot of teenagers and pre-teens (not many but a few and they were amazing) run the show, mixed in with adults too! I found this to be super cool - brings me back to a time that I volunteered at haunted house as a teenager. They even have a spot to take a picture with a creature before entering! They will use your phone to do it so you will leave with your own souvenir of your group for the night! They also have random food trucks set up so if you are hungry, you might get a hotdog or popcorn, also there is a truck with coffee to keep you warm after going through the trail. For only $20 the experience was amazing and well worth it. You can also buy a fast pass if you want, we opted not to, and the wait was no longer than 15 minutes - but we tend to do haunted houses early in the season to avoid the longer lines. Quite honestly, it would have been worth an hour wait! SO much thought and effort were put into this! Thank you for an amazing adventure! This was my first time here and I do gotta say my heart was beating when I was waiting in line. And when it was our turn to go I knew there was a jump scare and I was kind of being nice like "hello wanna be my friend" so I wouldn't get scared but when it continues on my heart Dropped and I screamed so much that my voice is gone. I won't spoil anything but it's worth it. Also, there were ppl to extort me because there were strobe lights and I have epilepsy and so they just took me around that part. Which was nice. There is only one part with strobe lights. But I'd say for it if you like getting scared, even if you don't. Eh. I'm super super big into haunted houses - call me crazy, but I LOVE getting the *not literal* shit scared out of me. The website for Haunted Forest of Maple Valley makes it seem like this place is legit terrifying but it was pretty underwhelming. There were some parts that were like ooo, nice props/nice costume/nice makeup, but I don't think I got scared one time during the walk through this forest. And it only took about 10-15 minutes... I feel like I would've been a lot more scared if they didn't rush people through this thing. There were a lot of people here the night we went, so they kept just pushing one group after the other. So, every time the group RIGHT IN FRONT OF YOU got scared, you knew what was coming or the actors wouldn't even try and scare us because we had just seen them scare the other group. Just wasn't super fun or scary whatsoever. I guess now I know not to try them next year. read more

I get scared too easily. Like.... seriously, too easily. It is quite funny to go to a haunted site with me because my scare tends to make people laugh. I can't help it. This is simple: purchase your ticket(s) online (convenient fee and tax included) and pick it up at will-call. You will get to the entrance and hear the guy's instruction on what to expect during the walk. However, there's this scary-looking guy that stands right there, and he freaked me out, just like he did last year. Then, he would follow me around though I tried using my boyfriend as a hiding prop........ hahaha! You know it gets real when you begin to walk down a dark path in the middle of the evening, and you often have to wonder who the heck is going to jump out to scare the crap out of you. You'd walk through multiple houses with various scary themes. The actors do such awesome jobs, and they always get me so well. I'm talking about following me all the way down from the beginning to the end of the trail. They always scare me! Whhhaaaaaaaaa! That chainsaw that they save until the end always freaks me out badly. Ugh........ Then, the creepy clown always follows me until I get in my car. I always sweat at the end because my scare gets the best out of me. Great job, Haunted Forest of Maple Valley! read more

Gave this place a second shot and was pretty disappointed. They didn't space out group's whatsoever so the entire time had people directly in front of you and behind you with zero space in between. Ruined the experience for me and you don't get scared at all because you see them jump-scare everyone in front so you know what to expect. How did I not know of this place until now, it's pretty close to where I used to live. Way better than Kube93's haunted house where you spend about 2 hours in line to go through a lame 5 minute path. The road coming here was already scary, dark and lonely, not somewhere you would want to suddenly get car troubles since there's not much people passing by and I don't even know if there's cell reception in these type of neighborhoods, lol. You'll know when you get there, there's suddenly a lot of cars and people turning in. It's really organized with those people with the glowing stick thing to direct you where to park. I came here in the perfect condition where it wasn't raining or too cold. I'm not sure if my experience would have been any different if it was because it is outdoor. There's little vendor for food/snacks that saved my life from dying of starvation, it was a reasonable size bag of Dorrito's for only $1. The red Dorrito's bag. But this review isn't about my love for processed food, it's about my experience in an organized forest trail that someone brilliantly thought to make use of a remoted area to supply the demand of consumers around this time of year to get spooked. I thought this was very well planned out. There's many actor in costumes just walking around scaring people even before you get inside the forest, they don't touch you though. Once you're inside, there's many different courses and obstacles that you go through with different type of monsters popping out randomly to scare you, there will be times when they will not let you go through or keep following you. I went with some guys that I swear probably nuts in their pants from being scared. The trail was long enough (probably a good 15-20 minutes walk) and I definitely feel like I got my money's worth. All the actor's makeup and costumes were on point, how do I get a fun job like that? I was skeptical coming here because I try to avoid forests and wood like area since I watch a lot of crime shows and serial killers usually kill and dump bodies there, but it was a really fun activity to get together with friends and enjoy a fun time. Lots of teeny boppers though, I don't recommend bringing young children here, they'll probably not stop crying. There is an entirely new executive team this year with a hauntingly new approach to to this one mile scare after scare event. The old Forest was called Dark Hallow Haunt. Having attended this event for the past five years, I can honestly say that there are several adults who can't even make it through the trail without turning around and running out screaming. It's spooky. It's also super nice that on Saturdays' they are going to continue having a family walk. It's in the day light and no one jumps out or intentionally scares the little kids. read more

This may not be the scariest haunted attraction around, but it is definitely still scary, the most fun, and best value; which is why i give it 5 stars. Being 31, I'm a bit of a veteran when it comes to haunted houses. I seek them out and go to as many as I can each year because I enjoy paying people to scare the living crap out of me. I really enjoyed this place last year (2009) and rated it amongst my favorites but HANDS DOWN this place is the BEST for 2010. It's nan old park and you walk through the "Haunted Forest". I can't tell you too much without giving it away, but I'll highlight a couple of favorite parts. Loved the daycare with creepy children. There were several children actors and the little girls holding hands saying "come play with us" were scary and awesome! They use a lot of old cars since a lot of the theme is in the 1950's era. Where the heck did they get all the hearses and antique ambulances!?!? My favorite were the soldiers that tried to escort you though the incident zone. They looked pretty real to me and were somewhat helpful on the scary trip. I'd suggest getting there early. The scary part opens at 7 and the line can get pretty long because they leave a lot of room between groups as they enter. There is a whole list that this haunted experience benefits: Masonic Lodge, DeMolay, Eastern Star, Job's Daughters, Rainbow for Girls, Scout Explorers & the Maple Valley Food Bank. NO, I'm not affiliated with this place whatsoever, but it's a great experience for a good cause and is the first haunted house/forest/whatever that I will visit twice in the same year. read more

But a friend of mine had hired a party bus and needless to say we were all a bit buzzed coming here. we were lucky that they let us in even if it was 10mins to closing. Last October (2012) was my first time going to the haunted forest, and I've never been much of a person for doing the haunted halloween places. But I gave it a try with a group of four and it was the most fun I have ever had at a halloween event like this. While our entire group was scared and screaming the entire time, it was extremely fun! The Haunted Forest had just about everything, and each part of it was a different theme. They definitely stand out because of their location and what they do, and how they followed through with the thrill factor was amazing. You can expect long lines but the is definitely worth it. I have to say, I went again this year (2013) on opening night and was kind of disappointed with how it turned out; it wasn't as I had expected it to be. But thanks to their more than amazing customer service they got me to come back the following night, promising it would be much better - and indeed it was. It was much more like last year, although I personally thought that last year's themes were better. But there were many more actors that were very scary and overall it was a lot of fun. I wish I could go closer to Halloween this year but being at college on the other side of the state, this weekend was the only weekend I could come. Going closer to Halloween might give you a little more of a scare, so that's what I would suggest! I would highly recommend this place for anyone who likes a scare or who is a Halloween fanatic. For my friends and I it is a must go and we plan on coming back next year and the years to follow. read more

I have been going to the haunted forest since I was a child (in my mid 20's currently), and I have to say this years set up was the scariest and best orchestrated event that they have put on. There was never a dull moment due to the scarers and set up of the scenes through out the forest. They spaced people out so you were alone and not right on top of the group in front of you. The security enforced the rules so we felt safe and knew what to expect. I would highly recommend attending this haunted festivity! read more

As we went though, We ended up be with 5 groups by the end. As we went though it got more boring because you could tell what was gonna happen because there wasn't enough time from the group in front of us to when we walked though one of the buildings. They need to better separate the groups. It's annoying to start with yourself and by the time you're half way there's 5 other couple/people now walking threw with you. read more

So our friends took us to this telling us it's really good and they really weren't wrong!! We had a blast walking through the different scenes with the different characters, I really did not anticipate it was going to be as good as it was nor did my husband who let out more than one girl like scream!!!!! The weather certainly helped set the mood with it being misty and damp, and well done to all the actors who manage to keep straight faces when they scare us! I highly recommend this to everyone but not little ones though teens and above only!!! Will definitely do this next year!!!! read more

Maple Valley Haunted Forest's rules are to be expressed and followed by both costumers and workers. Though tonight rules had been broken by the workers, as a 19 year old clown with a chainsaw came up and got a 12 year old's hair caught in the chain. As the event occurred, the clown worker, dropped the chainsaw and ran while still attached to the girl, not claiming responsibility, and saying "I didn't f**cking touch her". This caused paramedics to come and disassemble the chainsaw in order to not cut her hair out of it. Talking to one of the workers, they created a story saying that the girl was with another haunted forest and 18 years old and acting wreckless. This establishment did not take responsiblility of their actions and tried to cover up the story to not take the blame. This is both dangerous and irrisponsbile for the popular establishment and deserve repramandment for the event. read more

Wanted to give this place a shot.... our group all paid for the "RIP pass" to jump ahead of the 2 hour wait in line. Was about two minutes in and we had just gone through a set where there was a plexiglass type floor with someone rolling around underneath it. All was fine when we paused on the trail because we had caught up to the group up ahead of us and all of a sudden a staff member ripped his wig off and came running after us saying someone in our group "stomped on the glass and he has a 12 year old girl crying" ... it was so weird and confusing.. we all thought it was part of the act at first. But then he really was trying to kick us out and we were like maybe go check with the group ahead of us and he ran after them and came back and said "it wasn't them." Well it wasn't us either and I'll be damned if I just paid $125 for us to go through a mediocre haunted forest and be thrown out because a 12 YEAR OLD APPARENT "ACTOR" AT A HAUNTED FOREST IS CRYING !!!??! Because of someone stomping on the floor? Is that for real? He then continued to yell and we just stood there dumbfounded until he finally says "one more thing and you're outta here" and proceeds to tell security to follow us which they did. Obviously it's no longer fun and we felt afraid to look, talk, move, or do anything at this point. I guess I'm glad some of the money goes to charity otherwise I would have asked for my money back considering the waste that it was. I would also suggest maybe being a bit more selective about who you put under a piece of plexiglass... it was after 11pm so maybe the kid was crying because it was past her bedtime. Definitely will never be back.. just pay a few dollars extra and go to Maris Farms! read more

Was harassed by an obnoxious and rude security officer for drinking. From a flask. I've been sober for 10 years. He really got in my whole parties faces about it, and was even more belligerent when I in fact had no flask to dump out. He escalated the situation FAR beyond where it needed to go and really ruined the experience. Apart from that it was far too short, and needed at least 2 more sections to be worth admission. We won't be going back and I suggest you don't go. Maris Farms is an excellent experience and soars in superiority to this shameful place. read more

It was our first time to visit. I went with my 9yr old and we were jump-scared all throughout and we both thought it was amazing. Not for the faint of heart though if you don't like zombies and chainsaws coming at you unexpectedly. The trail may be around a mile long but it goes by so fast. The queue line to get in is slow though. Took us almost an hour from ticket purchase to entry. There were actors who came through to "entertain" us throughout the wait. It is slow to enter because they only allow a few at a time to enter so there aren't any backups at the various scare houses along the way. read more

This haunted house was okay,some parts are scary and some are not. There was a group of kids behind us that caught up to us and kept talking and talking which was very annoying,we let them pass us. They need to keep more space between each of the groups. The line was too long outside and cold. Had to wait 1 hour and 30 minutes in line. The actors could of done better because some of them were just walking up to us and not doing anything. The morgue in seattle is way better in my opinion. A+, SCARY, FUN!! To have heard "not to expect too much" from the show, I was extremely surprised at how amazing the haunted forest was. Both younger and older "children " ages 12-42. Jumped and screamed like a two year old and left feeling like they would do it all again. Employees who I were told were volunteers made the experience even better. We had pictures with all the creepy cast and was even let in on some of the secrets of the place. Over all, I'm suggesting to all my friends and family to go here at least once. BEWARE THE MAZE. Awesome haunted forest walk! You can hear people screaming from beginning to end! Bring young kids to the 5:00 pm Saturday walks to introduce them to the fun without the actors startling them or wearing full gory makeup. Love the behind-the-scenes security that makes sure everyone has a fun and safe walk, free from drunks and jerks. And love that it's a fundraiser for a number of community non-profit groups.
