DISNEYLAND RIDE #10: Haunted Mansion Holiday The last ride that we visited at Disneyland was the Haunted Mansion Holiday. I was becoming exhausted and I got a TON of steps in (my watch tracked almost 10 miles and over 21k steps!), but we crossed back into Disneyland from California Adventure because my LTP wanted to squeeze in one more ride before leaving the park and catching the shuttle back to our hotel. They still had all their Christmas and other holiday stuff up at the time of our visit, which included the Haunted Mansion Holiday, a Nightmare Before Christmas-themed ride. Everyone goes down the elevator upon entering and then they are guided to these pod-like chairs. They don't stop, so you have to get on them while they're still moving. This is also the same when you exit the ride. About halfway through, the ride abruptly stopped even though all the background noise was still going on. I had seriously though that the ride broke down or something and we would be stuck for a long period of time and well after the park would close, but it started up again less than five minutes later. I don't know if this was part of the ride, but it was weird that we all stopped abruptly like that. Be prepared for a lot of twists and turns here, and especially look out for some funhouse-like mirrors towards the end of the ride. You'll never know what you might see! This ride is probably back to its' regular Haunted Mansion, but it'll be back again for the next holiday! read more

The Haunted Mansion is located on the Disneyland side in New Orleans Square next to Bayou Country. The Haunted Mansion ride is such a classic! I lowkey wish my house looked like The Haunted Mansion - cobwebs and all! I'm not sure if I like the OG version of the ride or the Nightmare Before Christmas version that runs from the Halloween season through the end of the year. With the NBC version, Jack Skellington AKA Sandy Claws takes over the mansion which mixes Halloween and Christmas and all of his creepy friends are along for the ride! Oh, and the NBC version smells like gingerbread when you go through the big ballroom scene! They even create a different gingerbread house every year too! I think I enjoy both versions equally! During our last visit, there was always a super long wait time, but we finally were able to get a fast pass on the Disneyland app to ride it. We even rode it a second time on our last day and literally walked on at 11:30pm at night! There is no height requirement and is a family friendly ride - if they can handle it! They have a cool gift shop too with lots of Haunted Mansion memorabilia! Have a Scary Christmas! read more

This ride is already one of the best in the park. It's a fun twist bringing in the Nightmare Before Christmas movie and already amazing haunted mansion. Early on the Zero is the hero floating from painting to painting as they go from Christmas to their Halloween version. Speaking of floating, Zero's floating bone effect is a cool add as you start your journey down the hall. One of my favorite changes is the Madame Liotta séance room. But nothing beats the gingerbread house in the dance hall. This years crows ‍ is so cool. Add to it the gingerbread smell they pump in! My girl love seeing Oggie Boogie at the en of the ride. read more

The mix of spooky Haunted Mansion vibes with The Nightmare Before Christmas somehow works perfectly and feels both festive and delightfully weird. It manages to feel cozy, creepy, and cheerful all at once, which honestly should not be possible. A trip to Disneyland is not complete without heading to the haunted mansion!!! A Disneyland staple that we've grown to thoroughly enjoy! Once inside you stand until you are allowed into another room that is more roundish octagon where the elevator ride begins. If you are nauseated or have vision or movement issues. Closing your eyes helps as you really do not feel the elevator effect. Then you are shuffled and funneled into the sitting ride portion of the mansion. The pack you like sardines, so if you are worried about COVID or getting sick from something else, there was plenty of people still wearing masks. Perfect for all ages and not too bad for those visually impaired. Unfortunately was restricted from checking in to here last night. read more

Oh yes. Welcome to a Disneyland OG! The Haunted Mansion has been around for zeons... yes even when I was wearing diapers. Haha. I really like this ride, especially when the weather is really hot outside. I would come to this ride just to cool off, and enjoy the amusing haunts. I'd say this ride lasts about 15 minutes. The haunted house and it's goblins are very festive! They are decored out depending on the time of the year. Usually Halloween is the most festive. You'll see Jack Skellington from the Nightmare Before Christmas everywhere! The mansion is decked out with amusing skulls with all the funny ghosts. During Christmas you'll still see Jack Skellington and casts along with all the beautiful Christmas decorations. Haunted Mansion is definitely an oldie but goodie. I'm so happy that Disneyland still has this ride running despite all their new developments. The wait is usually about an hour on your typical day. But this is definitely a must ride. read more

I don't know why my reviews for Haunted Mansion Holiday keep disappearing. Or, I should say, I don't know why they keep getting merged into the postings for Haunted Mansion. Because they're not the same, so someone out there keeps merging things incorrectly. At any rate, this is a solid, consistent overlay. Even after all these years, I'll stand in line to get on the ride, to see the newest gingerbread house creation, to marvel at the innovation. It's always a great ride - from the moment you walk into the vestibule, to the stroll down the hallway, to the moving path to step into your doom buggy - and worth the wait (but not too long a wait, let's not get crazy here.) I'd love for the Imagineers to take a page from the Holiday overlay for the doom buggy loading area, especially when the overlay isn't in season. I think it's such a huge miss, keeping the loading area blank the way it is. When you see the holiday overlay, with the color and the chaos and the magic, it makes you wonder why they'd think having it open and empty the rest of the year is the right decision. read more

**August/September/October 2025: Multi-Visit** The Haunted Mansion is one of the most iconic attractions at Disneyland and during the Fall/Winter season this ride gets a spooky Nightmare makeover. From the end of August to the first week of January Jack Skellington, Sally, and friends take over. I've visit the version at Tokyo Disneyland and this version has a more Christmasy feel to it and Oogie Boogie is highly prominent. My favorite scene is always the ghost ballroom scene, but each year they have a different gingerbread house theme at the center of the dining table. One year that I visited they recreated a Frankenstein "He's Alive" scene and this year it's "The Murder Most Fowl" - a home that has crows with glowing red eyes and mischievous personalities. If you're a fan of Nightmare Before Christmas this is a ride that cannot be missed read more

This is a must visit on any Disneyland trip. Note you need a reservation to go on this ride now! They are remodeling the grounds, so access is limited. There's no longer a line, they put you into groups and then call you up when your group number is called, which is all done through the Disneyland app. Make sure you snag a reservation as soon as possible, because they fill up immediately and if you're at the end, your chances of making it on the ride before the park closes isn't good. The theme of course is the "Nightmare Before Christmas" merged with the Haunted Mansion, which is unique and tons of fun. We happily went to ride in January and it was still The Nightmare Before Christmas themed. The front has been remodeled, added more space for the wait line. Its just a tad different but still nice. Like a glass menagerie/greenhouse with crystal glass spheres on the lawn and iron work designs. There are a lot of really nice statues as well. As for the ride, it never gets old! I love how they redesign everything for the Holidays to add The Nightmare Before Christmas storyline and characters. From the outside, to the elevator, down to Sally requesting for you to come back. Though I have to admit the paintings that change in the hallways aren't as great as the original Haunted Mansion ones but still nice. Thats only because I like the darker images. If you're a fan of the Haunted Mansion ride/ attraction, then you probably love or would love it when Disney dresses up this ride with The Nightmare Before Christmas decor for more razzmatazz. The lining up (and lightning pass) as well as the flow of the ride is all pretty much the same as the original Haunted Mansion, but it's really amazing to see all the changes that are done to the decor throughout the ride. (I'm guessing it's not easy and takes a lot of time and effort on the part of the Disney staff - we appreciate you!) I think I've only been able to experience this ride once during the holidays and see that decor, so the novelty factor and awe on my part was big! It really is a fun holiday tradition here. Of course there's themed merch directly tied to this ride and decor as well. My youngest niece was super excited to get the Zero head piece. read more

Haunted mansion Holiday attraction is so fun during spooky season as well as Christmas time. It's also fun when not decorated with the nightmare before Christmas theme. On my trip I decided to wait in line and not purchase a lightening lane entry. It was a Friday midday during Halloween time at Disneyland, and the walk thru the queue took about 30 minutes. It was neat to look at the decor. It moved quickly. The ride is okay for little ones , even babies in my opinion. Children can let their imagination wander and may be quite scared of being scared. If this is the case , Disney+ has a little ride "walk thru" film and you can show them that on your tv at home or any device that you get Disney+ to see how they might feel about getting on the slow moving ride. It's very accessible for people with mobility issues as well. It's very dark in some areas and pretty vibrant in others. All in all it's a nice way to cool off or warm up or get out of the rain as this is an indoor ride. If crowds or claustrophobic areas are not ideal for you , then avoid this attraction. We look forward to the Haunted Mansion Holiday ride and set up every year. It's an amazing showcase of The Nightmare Before Christmas with Jack and Sally, The Headless Horseman and the many different types of Jack O' Lanterns to name a few. We visited on the first Friday of the New Year, 2025. It was a good time for our visit since the park was not congested. We were able to get on the Haunted Mansion 3x during this visit. Our wait times weren't long. The first time was a 20 to 25 minute wait. Then we decided to go again and the wait time was less than 20 minutes. Our third time getting on the ride was around 9:15pm which was a breeze. We also liked the fact that the garden and cemetery were newly renovated with some new pieces and headstones. read more

One of my favourite rides in the park year round but especially during Halloween. The scenery is amazing both inside and outside the ride and it never fails to amaze us. They pump in gingerbread smells as you pass the dancing ghosts in the dining room and it's just so nostalgic. The only negative aspect of this ride is that it regularly stops when I'm on it. I was so excited to really get a spooky adventure. It was closed down for a while. The last two times we came to Disneyland we couldn't ride it. Was excited to get the spooky haunted mansion in October. I don't know why I didn't think about it nightmare before Christmas is Disney, so they made it Christmas Halloween. I was not a big fan. I really just want to enjoy one season at a time. I don't like it when they blend together. What's better than the Haunted Mansion? Haunted Mansion HOLIDAY! Forreal, I love Haunted Mansion. It's one of the very few must-dos everytime I visit Disneyland. But when it's decked out for Halloween and the Holidays? OH EM GEE, my excitement gets even more amped up. As a Nightmare Before Christmas fan, I'm into the makeover during the Holidays. Jack Skellington welcomes you to his decorated version and you'll find NBC touches throughout the ride. Sally, Zero, the Mayor, Shock, Lock & Barrel and even that big ol' Ooogie Boogie can be seen throughout the ride. One of my favorite bits is Sandy Claws himself outside the mansion surrounded by pumpkins to make you feel like you're in Halloweentown. Photo ops galore outside! There are some really cute twists and changes inside that I don't want to spoil for you! But don't miss this attraction! Pro-Tip: This is a HOT commodity when the overlay is up, so def use fastpass/Genie/whatever new terminology they are using to skip the line lol! Season's Screamings! read more

It's Disney magic when they take an already classic and fun ride and level up it. They did a great job with this one incorporating Nightmare Before Christmas into the Haunted Mansion. That way little kids and adults don't find it as frightening. It's adding a cute aspect to it. Jack seems jolly handing out presents. I would love to see more of Zero, but all your favorite characters pop up at one point or another. They keep adding more decorations as the years pass to really revamp the ride so it covers up the OG Haunted Mansion ride. For instance, years ago, I don't remember Oogie Boogie at the end with his wheel. I remember they just used the hitchhiking ghosts. Now that have Oogie and his wheel of crazy gifts. The haunted mansion is not an exception as it's adorned with jack-o-lanterns and Halloween-style Christmas decorations in the theme of Nightmare Before Christmas. The foyer is decorated with skull wreaths and when you get onto the Black Christmas Sleighs, you'll see Vampire Teddy, Zero, Oogie Boogie, Jack Skeleton and Sally along the way. The pile of bones, creepy dogs, and dancing ghosts are still there but you'll see pumpkins, wreaths, garlands, and funeral flowers added to the holiday theme. This is a MUST-RIDE during the holiday season! Between September through December, Jack Skellington and Halloween Town come to take over the Haunted Mansion. I absolutely adore the classic Haunted Mansion during the rest of the year, and the incorporation of Nightmare Before Christmas is absolutely superb. The biggest drawback is that if you don't have a Fastpass, the lines take forever. I went on this for a total of four times during a 2-day trip in Disneyland. But the fourth time we went was after we had gone all the other rides we wanted to go on, and now we were just revisiting any ones that we really enjoyed. My poor boyfriend was dying in line, but he suffered through it because he loves me, bless him. The ride itself is absolutely MAGICAL, full of Halloween and Christmas magic! All the details are superb and astounding, and there's' always something new to catch in each room, like Zero's pile of bones, the room of floating cards with Madame Leota, Lock Shock and Barrel's cake-cutting guillotine, the snow-covered graveyard with all the pumpkin head ghosts and angels, the room full of presents, and Oogie Boogie spinning his wheel and wearing a Santa Clause hat and beard. I generally don't like riding the haunted mansion ride unless it's the holiday makeover version --then count me in.If you think the regular version is immersive just watch what Disney does with this. There are sights and scenes outside of the ride. Inside the changes begin in your elevator ride. IYKYK. There is even a twist on your hitch hiker and look out for Sally watching Jack in the grave yard. I did not miss the rambling lady in the glass .Too bad this isn't up year round. read more

Nightmare Before Christmas. First time I saw the movie, I wanted to walk out of the theater. I hated that they tortured Santa and I was going to have NO part of it. I refused to like anything about it from that point on. But everyone loved it, could it really be that awful? Finally years later I watched it again, really watched it (although remaining true to my original hatred for Santa torture) and fell completely in love with everything about its story. Jack is adorable, Sally is amazing, even the awful kids are endearing. I admit it now, I'm in love with this movie, 100% completely! (well, minus the couple minutes of torture.... I just close my eyes) Anywhoooooo........ Having one of my favorite Disneyland rides transformed into one of my all time favorite movie themes is ridiculously Halloween perfection for me! I will ride this over and over and over, year after year after year and it will always be one of the best parts of the season for me. Halloween or Christmas... it's a hit in my book. Although the basic Halloweentown décor is the same each year there is always something different and/or tweaked to give it a new flare. The entire ride is completely transformed, it's simply stunning! Sit back in your Doombuggy and enjoy this holiday classic in all it's glory! The outside of the mansion, the hallways and, heck, even the "room that actually is stretching" is redone. Even if you've never seen the movie, this holiday edition of the Mansion will leave you feeling in the "spirit" and filled with a smile in your soul. It's just good fun! It's such a treat to be able to go on this ride. Every holiday season, Disneyland updates the traditional Haunted Mansion ride and adds a "Nightmare Before Christmas" flare to it. I had the awesome treat of getting to experience this ride this past week. Typically, the ride is completely transitioned from outside in. You'll see immediately when falling in line that they've added additional elements to the ride just by falling in line. The soundtrack is also a bit different in some of the different rooms, obviously with a focus on the Nightmare Before Christmas soundtrack, which is really neat. What I noticed this year that they didn't have when I had last gone, was the tons of Sally additions to this ride! It was really cool to see her everywhere unlike in previous years. PSA: If you've already seen their Halloween Fantasmic show, you should definitely hop on this ride during it. This special version of the Haunted Mansion goes on from around half of September until the New Year, so you get around 1/4 of the year to get the chance to check it out. However, during this time, the ride is especially crowded with waits averaging from 45 minutes to well over an hour. So make sure you get a Fast Pass! Everything is decked out to follow the holiday and Nightmare Before Christmas theme. From the exterior all the way until the end of the ride, it is crammed pack with Nightmare Before Christmas Decorations. I especially LOVE Madam Leota's fortune telling area with the Nightmare Before Christmas tarot cards floating around. The dining hall is also intricately detailed and smells of gingerbread! This is one of the rides I'd go on again and again just to see all the small wonderful details. read more
