A potential 5 star place but I had to take away 2 stars because, re: my egg sandwich, you charged extra $1 for a mini slice of bacon and the egg was overdone 'dry to the bone'. Your cinnamon toast was dry, very dry --- maybe dip the brioche slab in egg first and do it French toast style? The Iggy almond croissant was nothing to write home about but thumbs up for the Iggy sticky bun. Your friendliness, service, and Counterculture pour-over coffees and presentation deserve a 5 star, for sure. Would return, would recommend but only for your coffees. read more

What a waste of time and money. I stopped in for a cup 6 months ago and still use this place as the example of a terrible value. I asked for a coffee with milk. The guy behind the counter says it will be a few minutes and invites me to use the waiting area. They individually brew each cup. It's like the bougiest cup of Keurig coffee ever. The difference is that it takes forever, cost 10 times as much and in the end it wasn't particularly good. You are paying for the experience of luxuriating over a lovingly prepared cup of artisan crafted blend of blah, blah, blah. For the love of god I just want a cup of coffee. read more

This place has been packed both times I've been here and I can definitely understand why. Luckily, it's quite roomy for either sitting in and there are plenty of lovely picnic spots nearby. Their pastries are all great. This weekend I tried the cardamom orange cake which was both nicely presented (loved the cute gummy pumpkin on top) and delicious - such a perfect flavor combination and a great cake texture. I was pretty disappointed with the egg sandwich. For one, they really should advertise it as a half-sandwich, since that's what it is. And for another, the egg was poached which would be great except that it was overcooked. So, what's the point really? Might as well just make it a hard-boiled egg. At least you can't go wrong with Iggy's bread. About half of their sandwiches are vegetarian friendly so next time I'll go for something else. We were four people with drinks and sandwich orders and they only produced half of our items before we reminded them of the rest, despite all of the items being on the receipt. That seems like it might be an issue of being understaffed considering how many people were in line. Still, a few little qualms aside, it's definitely a spot I'd recommend and support. read more

Popped into Haute Coffee as we were in search of something delicious to eat and just about died of joy after taking my first sip of their Ethiopian coffee. THAT IS SOME SERIOUS JO! It is easily the best cup of coffee I have ever had and I love the rustic decor of the eating area yet modern touches (ipad checkout.) I also had one of their egg sandwiches on fresh brioche bread and it could not have been any tastier! I have already told all of my friends but make sure you go here. Had a business meeting here today. What a great find; really good coffee (the place seems quite serious about it...made my iced coffee as a pour-over onto an ice-filled glass, then transferred to another glass of ice...), quite good food (gazpacho was a winner, roast chicken sandwich, not so much...), and a really lovely staff. I reached an age where I find myself saying "really lovely young people" working there. The place got really lively over lunch, but there was still plenty of room to get some work done, access the WIFI, drink coffee....then drink more coffee. After that, drank coffee. Really wanted to love this place. The interior is beautiful...I really wanted to break out my laptop and stay awhile. But the two employees behind the counter couldn't be bothered to pause their personal conversation with two other people (customers? Employees?) sitting across from the counter to greet or welcome me. After perusing the board and bakery treats I moved closer to the cashier, who finally spoke to me ("What can I get you?"). I ordered an iced vanilla latte, which was pretty good - not too sweet, but the espresso could have been stronger. This is a coffee shop in a tourist area...I should feel welcomed. I should want to stay awhile. Employees should be friendly. Say hi when someone comes in, ask how they're doing and if they've been in before, offer a suggestion, etc. At the end of a transaction a "thanks for coming in, have a good day" would have been great. I love this little coffee shop! The drinks, the decor, the food...all great! I appreciated that they had more than one kind of drip coffee. I got the Ethiopian blend and was very satisfied with my cup. They also had some interesting looking lattes, including the Haute latte, and had I not planned on having a slice of the chocolate cake I would have opted for one of them. I'm glad I got the chocolate cake, though - it was seriously moist and quite delicious. And big - my friend and I split it and still couldn't finish! This place has decent number of tables so you can sit and enjoy you coffee but it can get pretty busy, especially on a weekend. Concord doesn't have a ton of coffee shops so I imagine this place is popular. I know that I can't wait to come back and try one of their lattes! read more

Stopped in for the first time last week and am very glad I did! Given that the only place in Concord Center to get a good cup of coffee is Starbucks (FOR CRYING OUT LOUD), I am delighted that this new shop is here. It was clear to me from watching the managers train the new hires ("You want to give it a vigorous stir.") and staring over the counter at all the fancy, unfamiliar equipment that these people take their coffee very, very seriously. Thankfully, the coffee is actually very, very good. I'm especially impressed by their house-infused syrups, a welcome relief from the bottled drek found in almost every coffee shop that exists, independent or otherwise. Their pumpkin latte is the most convincing I've ever had. The majority of pumpkin- flavored drinks just taste vaguely of spices, like a suped-up chai. Haute's actually tastes like a delicious slice of pumpkin pie. Well done! The prices are fair for the quality and size of the drinks served. I can't wait to try the food. If they are as fastidious with their sandwiches and treats as they are with their coffee, I bet everything is delicious. read more

My friend and I were only making a brief stop in Concord to visit some literary historical sites on our way to Maine and we needed somewhere quick and low key to stop for lunch. This place had excellent Yelp reviews, so we gave it a shot. It did not disappoint. The menu is simple, and the food is good. Everything on the menu is under $10 and most of it is locally sourced and organic. I ordered the BLT on 7 grain bread and a chai latte. The bread was soft and chewy, the bacon was crispy, and the latte was slightly spicy and just sweet enough without being cloying. I also ordered a matcha coconut scone to go, which I haven't eaten yet, but it looks great as well. My friend ordered the Cabot cheddar grilled cheese on sourdough bread. She said it had the perfect amount of cheese where it was melty without being too gooey. The service was also very good. I'd definitely recommend! read more

Amazing coffee and breakfast treats. I'm not really a coffee expert, but Haute Coffee is tied with Sallie Ann's for best coffee in Concord, in my humble opinion. If you're used to something like Starbucks though, you may not like their drinks at first. Iced lattes aren't super cold, which I personally like, but some people may want to ask for extra ice. Their specialty lattes are the perfect amount of sweet - the sweetness doesn't detract from coffee flavor. The staff is great. They are usually pretty busy, and they're not a "fast food coffee," type place, so if you're in a hurry, don't stop here. When you walk in, you kind of expect to see an obnoxious hipster staff who judge you for your lack of knowledge in fair trade and flavor and whatnot.. However this isn't the case. If anyone in there is pompous or obnoxious, it's the customers. A lot of the people I see in there seem like tourists, but from time to time I'll see really rude, snooty Concord lady-residents who treat the staff like dirt. I recommend it for anyone interested in trying something new. read more

Love the coffee here - the Haute Latte is awesome; I treat myself to one every few weeks (pricy, but worth it). You will wait a bit if you come at peak times - if you're looking for a quick cuppa joe to go, this isn't your place. I go here often for coffee and a light meal (love the egg sandwiches) with a friend, usually after our swim practice. Lots of cyclists and locals, more of a place to hang out and enjoy the coffee than grab and go. Could use a bit more seating, but they may be constrained by fire regs. read more
