Havana Moe is my go-to cigar lounge in Rochester. Moe and wife Carmen make everyone feel special and welcomed. The humidor is small and limited and will get by you by in a pinch, but I always bring my own. The bar is full and fantastic and wait staff does a great job of keeping up with demand. Seating is comfortable but somewhat limited and can fill up quickly. In the summer months they bring tables and chairs outside which is just fantastic. There's a few TVs and local games are usually playing or some music for ambience. Drink prices are reasonable as well. Highly recommend. read more

Came in to visit during a trip from California. Carmen was behind the bar and very helpful in selecting, cutting, lighting, and making sure my drink was full. Prices were fair all around. Cigars were marked up no more than the drinks, and both were a fair amount to run a business without being crazy. She was also helpful in alerting me to festival that night that I actually went to after dinner. The fellow smokers were all pleasant and it was easy to chat with strangers near you. Seemed like the owners knew most regulars and made visitors feel welcome. Great place and great vibe. read more

Are you a dude? A bro? A manly man? Don't get me wrong ladies you are also welcome here but this has got to be one of the coolest hangouts for the boys in Rochester. When you walk in to Moe's it will feel like and look like the backdrop from a scene in a movie. Near the entrance a couple of burly gentleman appeared to be old friends and were right at home smoking big fat cigars and drinking brown liquor. Moe himself was part of this crew and I bet you this gathering is a daily occurrence. Moe does not have cigars from Havana (at least none for sale) but he does have an outstanding selection of high end options. Arturo Fuente, Romeo and Juliet, Monte Cristo etc. You will pay a premium price for it but your cigar will go down super smooth and make you feel happy. They have a outstanding ventilation system so you won't drown in smoke regardless of how many patrons are puffing away. They also have an outstanding selection of liquor especially in the bourbon and scotch department. In summary... dudes smoking cigars, having a drink, telling old stories (or new ones) in a dimly lit bar that looks like it could be used in a scene from Goodfellas. GO HERE. Idc if you smoke or not, the ventilation system is always running so I promise it won't make your stomach turn if you're not about the tobacco-life. You might leave smelling like it though. Moe's is the best. The owners Carm and Moe are gems. It's so cozy, filled with business men drinking expensive scotches, and other East Ave-ers getting off work. Kind of a local/regulars bar, but still uber-welcoming. Sometimes they have jazz performances on the weekends. Really cool tables made of cigar boxes, and Carmen infuses some of her own vodka and tequila. Great taste in the tunes playing at night too. Get the Moscow Mule served in a cold copper cup, you won't regret it. Don't get more than two though, drink with caution. They're addicting and dangerous as all hell. Try the Sun Grown. It's pretty good. Don't be afraid to step behind the bar on the humidor end. Get in there and pick your stoge!! Not a bad little spot. When I called to ask how late they were open, the guy (I think it was Moe) said as late as we've got people here. That's what I like to hear. You can tell it's a pretty good local crowd but everyone's friendly. The place is small with a small bar and a few bar height tables and a few smaller sitting areas. The Bartender was great (don't remember her name, Moe's wife) and really took care of everyone there. I bought a handful of cigars that I need to get back in and smoke before I leave. The only New Year's Eve I have ever enjoyed. The fact that I also recall enjoying a huge cigar while listening to a woman belt the shit out of "Before He Cheats" on karaoke may have something to do with that. But I still tend to think my memories are valid and useful. I have no idea what it's like on January 2, but you can't top the NYE atmosphere. Being served full-to-the-brim tumblers of whiskey by a middle-aged woman in full sequins. Being served two Genny Creams by a conspicuously toupeed man who was quickly revealed not to be an employee by the other bartender (in a polyester leisure suit). Also, a fat kid who looked like an industrial music connoisseur, sitting with his girlfriend, reading a book. This is the genuine article, at least for one night a year. This is the kind of place that should be uprooting urban theme park malls like Williamsburg or West Hollywood. But unfortunately, it's the other way around. read more

Havana Moe's is pretty amazing. Carmen is a fantastic bartender, and is very attentive and personable. She knows her drinks and the cigars. Carmen is easy to talk to, and gives great service to whomever walks in. The cigars are very affordable, and can be paired with a beverage of your choosing on recommendation. They can cut the cigars for you, and have matches if you don't carry a lighter. This is one of the few bars that allows smoking indoors due to being grandfathered in before the smoking indoors law was passed. The draft drink specials for happy hour are typically 2 for $5 Yuengling, Budweiser, or Coors. They have other beers, wine and liquor as well. The place is small, and they have a few outdoor tables too. This is a Mets bar (yeah!). If you don't like that then...you can go somewhere else! read more

I live in Rochester, so I've had the chance to go back again and have to say I was pleasantly surprised Carmen remembered my name, but she did! The bartenders are great, the music (both on the stereo and the live jazz on Saturday's) was fantastic. They have a large selection of bottled beers and liquors. As the only bar you can smoke in here in Rochester, you will leave smelling like smoke. (You will not be able to hide the fact you were here!) You can smoke your own cigar or buy one here. I love this little bar , within minutes of walking in I was warmly welcomed by the two owners Moe and Carmen. There always seemed to be baseball on the TVs when there wasn't live jazz. If you are a Boston Red Sox fan your will love this little bar but don't worry they are welcoming of all fans. I love this place more and more each time I come (which is saying something seeing as I come here a few times a week). The staff is always incredible, Carmen is amongst the most amiable bartender around, Amy is as tough as nails but as fun as you could ever imagine, and Gretchen is all around fun, sweet and bubbly. And then there is Moe. If you ever receive the pleasure to find yourself in a conversation be prepared to be wowed, he has seen and done it all and is truly a legend in Rochester. When you come, grab a Moscow mule and find a good cab driver! Also if you're a smoker, this place is one of the few bars in the state that allows smoking, and it has a great selection of cigarettes and especially cigars. There are so few places like this left in the world it gets 4 stars for simply existing, and the fifth star for being awesome. Pleasantly dive-y with a good to great whiskey selection, and lots of punk rock on the jukebox- what more could you ask? Cigars! This is one of two bars in the Rochester area that still allow smoking. In my opinion this is a bar first and a cigar lounge second. You will see more people drinking than smoking any time you are there. I am an avid cigar smoker and enjoy going to Moe's to have a few bourbons and smoke my own cigars(no cutting fee, which is how it should be if you are buying alcohol), and prices are very good. More than a few TV's for whatever sports are on. The ventilation system is great but you will leave smelling of cigar/cigarette, but that's to be expected obviously. Golden Tee is in the back along with chess boards. Everyone in the place is always friendly, never any a-holes that you could easily run into at the downtown bars. Moe's wife Carmen is a sweetheart for sure, Amy the bartender is great, and Moe is a great guy, always shaking hands of people in his bar whom he doesn't even know.
